Map Light Power Source

On a 72 vert, where does the map light power lead plug into behind/underneath the dash? The manuals seem to indicate it plugs into one of the aux. slots in the fuse block - is this correct?

Well, I supose that would work just fine.

When I added one to my 71, I located an unused connector in the lighting harness. It was plug n play like it was meant to fit there.

Is this the mirror light or a dashboard light?

The dashboard lights generally plug into the orange dome light / cigarette lighter lines, but the mirror light plugs into the ignition switch circuit.

The maplight power lead will plug directly into the fuse block and into a contact that is controlled by the ignition switch. It's only "hot" when the key is in the ACC or ON position. Also the wiring is comprised of 2 pieces. If you take a look at my thread, you will see pictures of this since I received help on this same topic a few weeks ago.

Just for clarity, the actual posts about the mirror start here.
