70 map light mirror mounting bracket

Could someone please post a pic of said bracket? Are all rearview mirrors mounted the same? I didn't take it out and all I see is a ball at the end of the mirror arm. Right now I don't know what I am looking for!

There should be a metal bracket on the end that bolts to the roof just the same as the standard mirror.

I have an NOS mirror mount in the garage. Have to hunt through a lot of stuff to get to it. If I get a chance before someone else posts, I'll do that for you. The mirror mount is exactly the same as a mirror mount for mirrors without the map mirror. You can't hide the wire to the light, if that's what you're wondering. Besides, there's not really that long a section exposed - only about 3 or 4 inches.

For 1970, your rearview mirror should have the silver backing. It was changed to black in 1972 to reduce glare reflection to oncoming cars.

Yes---the wire is hidden somewhat....it runs up THROUGH the aluminum stalk/post through a hole in it. I think non-maplight mirrors may also have this hole in them for the wire to run through.

If yours is showing a ball, somebody broke the ball out of the socket on the mirror. Theres a slotted head screw on the end of the bracket; take that out and the ball part will drop out of the fork on the arm... Bill
