How to Find a Short Circuit
Would someone please refresh my memory on finding a short. I haven't had to do it in years, but what is the procedure to disconnect one of the battery cables and connect a test light. I think you disconnect the positive, then run a test light between the + battery terminal and the + (loose) cable. Is that correct, or what is it?

Usually with handful of fuses, start with all the things on a circuit disconnected. Put in a new fuse, if it does not blow, slowly reconnect items 1 by one until the fuse blows. When the fuse blows you know which direction to trouble shoot.

DVOM hooked to the load side of the offending circuit fuse holder switched to ohms and the other lead to a good ground if it has a short, it will read ohms.
Unhook things on that exact circuit till the ohms read open.(service manual to see what else is on that circuit) Start checking the wiring or the item itself for short to case or exposed wires touching metal!
