powermaster mini starter
powermaster mini starter
after installing new set of headers my original starter is just too tight to fit without touching the headers ,so ive decided to go with the power master mini torque.my question is what to do with the r terminal wire my factory starter has ?my pink and black resistor wire was bypassed when i got the car (no power in it )so i have a twelve volt wire running through a resitor block to the coil.not sure if this has anything to with the r wire . anytime i read a wiring diagram im completely lost .wiring is definately not my forte .from what i understand the r wire sends temporary full voltage to the coil during start up .but i see there are only two terminals on the power master ? hope this makes sense, thank you
It makes a lot of sense. You can try seeing you have power at the coil when the key is in the start position. If not, I believe the IGN terminal on the fuse box has power in both the run and start. Just run a wire from there to the resister block. The yellow wire from the R term is a resistance wire byoass to provide a full 12v to the coil during start.
You can try seeing if it will start on the lower voltage, probably will. I used a Ford Solenoid on my car. It has an I terminal that would duplicate your R terminal on the stock starter.

Make believe the R terminal is not there.
