I'd love to get a rear bumper for my 1964 Dynamic 88 that's really decent. Can anyone tell me what I should expect to pay for either a good rust free bumper, a solid core to have rechromed, or to have a rusty bumper welded, repaired and rechromed? It rusting through at the mounts, I'd love to find a good straight rust free bumper

Facebook shows a pair in central NC for $200 but the rear is described as rough.
Plating a good core is going to be at least $1000-2000. Some places will be even higher.
Look up "El Paso Electroplating". They are still in business, to the best of my knowledge. Am of belief that they, even though their pricing has gone up, their pricing will be a fraction of West Coast and Midwest shops. It may be worthwhile to have a southwestern Core, sent to them, and then shipped to you. I frankly would have never have bought a Core, such as that, due to perceived lack of customers, and the length of time, it would take to find a motivated customer. So you will need to find a larger Classic yard, or a Sixties Full size specialist. You might try "Dyer Auto Salvage" he might have something, he is in NE El Paso. I know he did have a pair of '63 Full Size Buicks, maybe he has some similar year Oldsmobiles. Am of belief DVAP crushed a good part of their Sixties large car inventory, when they sold their original Phoenix location, but yes, I'd try them, as well.

I tried Desert Valley, they don't have one. Bumper Boyz promised to check stock for a core, and if they do it, I can meet them at a show in the spring to save some shipping costs. I'll search up Dyer in El Paso. Thanks for the tip!

Like everyone else I speak to, Dyer warns me the shipping costs will be high and the part might not be as clean as I'd like. They all discourage me from going this route- find one closer, they all say.
Patience, I think, is the only option for me right now.
If you can get a non-rusted 1962-68 full-size Olds rear core for less than $750 consider it a win. The way those bumpers are made even a desert one may be rusted around the brackets.
Look close at any BB chrome work. At one time it was pretty good quality but starting mid 90s saw a lot of it peel and discolor.
I may have found one- I called around to find a plater, and by luck one of them says he's has a line on a core, and will check it out this weekend. Bumper Boys in LA can do it too, but they're really expensive.
I got one out of San Jose- someone recommended Larry Camuso, and he had one for around $900 including shipping. It arrived today. It's not bad- straight and solid, quite a bit of surface rust and a few minor imperfections, but overall a solid core for refinishing. Good news!
