what's the going rate for having a solid bumper re chromed? i got a quote today in Cincinnati and it was out of this world. 1800-2200 per bumper. is that outrageous, or am i out of touch with the times?

I was just recommended to them (I'm about 2 hours north of Cincy). Thanks for saving me the phone call. Haha
Another vote for TriCity. I had them do the bumpers for my 67 Delta, 64 Vista, and one of the 85 Deltas. Depending on how much straightening is required, they are usually in the $700-$850 range. Quality has been good.
the guy i spoke to in cincy told me about them, even said they were still under a grand. sad to think that i could get two bumpers done, from 3 hours away, shipped, cheaper than i could drive 20 minutes for one bumper. insane i tell ya
Plus, Tri City can ship two back to me for $150 total, which is their UPS rate.
Do not plan to drop any off at the Charlotte Spring show. They kept the vendors deposits from last years cancelled Spring show. Tri-City is not going back.
I use to see Tri-City at the MOPAR Nationals Trail event in Hebron, Ohio. Assuming they still go, that event is in August.

Were they back by the AMD trailer? Now that you say that I vaguely remember seeing it now, but never paid that close of attention. I used to go every year.

They still go to Spring and Fall Carlisle, but they typically arrive on Friday and leave by Saturday afternoon. Seems like a waste for them after making the drive, but at least it's easy for me to drop off and pick up. They've got my 69 H/O back bumper this time.

i do not remember exactly. I have not been back there in at least 10 years due to the heat. Last time the heat got the asphalt behind the bleachers so soft that I saw the feet of a vendors engine stand sink.

yeah..it does get pretty rough. The first year we went my wife about passed out. Since then, we'd bring coolers, and get a room locally in case it got too bad. Last few times, rain had been involved too
Tri city did my Toro bumpers in 2018 and my vista rear bumper/ step piece in 2019. Prices were all $600-$800 ($80 for the step section). Every other place I spoke with was $1500 plus. FYI they only do steel, no pot metal. so if you need any small pot metal parts done you will need to find another shop.

North Star did my Vista Cruiser bumpers about 4 years ago. They had a tiered rate. General public rate was about $1500 per bumper and trade rate was about $400. My painter passed the trade rate on to me with no markup. Quality was perfect.
I bring this up so that you know to investigate this pricing avenue at other platers.

funny you say that, i'm engaged to one of the owners cousins, i did not let that be known when asking, because i wasn't looking for any handouts, but when he told me the price,i reminded him of the time we met. lol he ended up dropping it to 1200. nice break, but still a lot more than tri-city, if they do good work, i will definitely ship to them first.

Thanks Duane, I just went and looked a the pics you posted of your 65. Looks like a pretty good starting point. Do you have any pics of the "rotted" 67 convertible yet?

wow, i forgot i had them pictures on here. thanks. i've been trying to buy that car back, but he doesn't really want to sell it. i have some pictures of the 67 on my phone, buy haven't put them on here yet. i'm still on the fence about keeping it, or getting what i really want, which is another 65. i'm even starting to lean more towards spending a little more money, and getting something i can drive
