do they make performance parts for the 371

hey guys, im fixing to fire the 371 engine, that in my 60 88... im gonna run a compression check on it.... then make sure the valves arent stuck.. then fire it up.... if it runs good, im gonna pull it out and clean it up...install new gaskets and freeze plugs, and probably an oil pump.. then re-paint it

was wondering if you can buy a performance cam, and 4 barrel intake for the 371 engines????

Dang, bo, you ARE an Olds noob, ain'tcha?

You might have to go on vintage speed equipment sites to find it, but you can get about any sort of high-performance or drag racing equipment you could ever want for these engines. These and 394 were VERY popular in Gasser classes and ruled them until the Hemi and Ford Cammer came out.

Edelbrock has a 2X4 , 6X2 intake, finned valve covers.. Offenhauser has a 3X2 setup as well as their finned valve covers ( which surprisingly they make new ) Magnetos could be found from time to time on ebay, as well as Hillborn injection units. 4bbl intakes are easy - any '59 - '64 371/394 will bolt up, Ross Racing has an impressive line of parts for the early rockets. Check them out

What kind of trans do you have? Im not sure if the roto-hydramatic came on the 1960 88 with the 371, but the transmissions are pretty "stubborn" if you change tv rods and linkage to accommodate a dual quad or tricarb setup. To help answer your question, many hi performance parts and dress-up parts can still be found today and are interchangeable between the 371 and the 394. Best of luck with your Olds! -Rouge
