'63 slim jim 10 speedo connection

swapped out my slim jim with a replacement - my speedo cable runs to the front wheel. This tranny is set up for a speed cable to the housing. I need a way to plug the hole for the speedometer cable in the transmission housing. Any ideas? THe hole mics at .984 inches. THanks

I used to have a 64 Olds 98 with the same setup but it was such a long time ago I can't recall the specifics. Is it a speedometer cable similar to this one?

If so, you should be able to get a threaded cap at your local hardware store or online. Just figure out the size and thread pitch of the connector and your golden. BTW, pics would help.

It is smooth with a clip on the top. There is a hole to bolt in the cable but the connector is not threaded. I am going to try a 25mm rubber expansion plug from Dorman
