56 Eighty Eight - Driver with custom interior / bumpers.
10 years years ago I joined many oldsmobile groups to help my Pops source parts for his (still on going) 57 Restoration.... his first ever car was a 57 2 door olds 88.
Anyway, Since that time he acquired a 56 olds that's not really "right" in anyway, but was cheap and just sort of became my fun Sunday driver. As with most of our classics the only person that ever really drove them was me... but I found myself driving THIS car more than any of the other cars. It was cheap and that made me more comfortable and easy going about having the kids in it, taking it out and about, etc.
In May he & my mother (who passed away 2 weeks later) gave it to me for my 40th birthday. Well, for a couple of reasons it's pretty damn special to me now.
Factory A/C car, needs lots of little things, and a few major things, but is a great every day driver that we only paid 5 grand for in the Fall of 2018 at an auction in Tacoma
It's an absolute blast to drive around, my kids love it, and it certainly turns heads wherever I go. I'm hoping this winter to get the trim replaced around the windows... because that's the most unsightly thing. My glass guy doesn't want to mess with the headliner though so he's complaining.
I happen to have a 56 Super 88 four door sedan with working factory A/C. I admit that I don't know much and in my declining years, I know less every day. But please post more pictures of the dashboard and the engine compartment (particularly the A/C plumbing) and us '50's owners can help you.
By the way, I hope you had nothing to do with painting the bumpers.....if you did I'm probably never talking to you again............😃
