It seems that the previous owner uses some "other" wiring routing thing...

Keep us posted!!

We look forward to a resto thread - I assume this is it.
Your fire-car will contribute lots of good parts to it.
Looks like the top is pretty good!

Its back from body and paint , The top has some stains that I can not get out and some splits at the outer seams so I am going to have a new black top installed. I had it painted black.

If you type www.wildwheelsauto.com click on wild wheels automotive. Then go to project cars. Mine is the blue 72 Cutlass. He has great detailed pics and explanations. I traded him the 69 Nova roller on there and a 67 Camaro convert( basket case) for the body work and paint. He basically put a new back half on the car and patches here and there , very minimal filler. Let me know what you think. He is going to make me a cd when I bring it back to him for final buffing and touch up.the cost to me of the cars I traded was 2,000 . but I made more than that on the Nova that I parted out before I gave it to him , so I think I did ok. The nova shell and frame was pretty nice though for the age.

I trust you kept the blue bumper though, right?

I'm proud to say that I consider myself a partial hillbilly and redneck at the least. I can understand and speak some of their dialect and have learned many of their customs after spending much time with them at the flea market and THE Wal-Mart studying their native habits for my research project.
I'm very offended that you spelled "Hillbilly" wrong.

That ist is beatiful the biggest steelhead I have ever caught. I have caught a lot of them, but this was fun. The cool thing is this is as far as the steelhead can go up the Snake river. It is a short hike in, but you usually see Rocky Mt goats and bighorn sheep up there. A buddy of mine and I saw a bighorn so close yould touch her with your fishing pole. I also saw a bear there last spring.

A couple years ago some buddies were going out on lake superior fishing , I declined and said I would fish the mouth of rivers. They laughed and said there are no fish there. I caught a 7 pound steelhead , they caught nothing after a full day of scary cold water and huge waves. Although I have been out there pounding Coho Salmon and Lake trout and it is fun.

MJAKS462,
Your gonna have a bounty on us Minnesota guys. One thing I did notice is that you don't have to go too far south and the old cars are nicer and folks start talkin funny.

hill billys have now started to form an angry mob at your house. I suggest you make them some fancy cream corn and give them a Bottle of Mountain dew and they should leave. By the way I've seen worse Olds sitting 10 feet in the Air From the hood so I think you got a good starter.

Update

Well I am almost done with the interior , still need console parts. Have the gauges installed in the hacked radio hole. Turned out pretty good.
Had a tough time with the PUI door panels. Still working on the engine bay , wheels , exhaust and brakes.

Your car looks great! Keep the pics and progress coming. Did you install a new wiring harness and if so which one did you use? I'm considering doing this myself and am trying to find the best / easiest one to use. Also, I may be wrong but is that steering wheel on upside down?

Hi I did not need a new harness .
Is the wheel upside down ? Holy Sh__ !!
I know there is a reason I put it on like that , It was like it only installed one direction,
Gez I hope its not backwards.

Yeah it looks upsidedown. Usually the large opening is on the top.

Interior looks great - reminds me of a past project I just completed....
I wish my engine was clean and painted like yours though...

Just turn the wheel 180* and your done! I have done things like that by not paying attention also. We are just human...

Try to remove it without the puller (rock and tug gently - no hammer). Since it was a fresh install, a puller may not be needed. If it wont budge, you will need the puller.

Thanks Rob , But if I just turn the front wheels 180 degrees the wheel is correct , so I have a decision to make LOL , yea I checked out your pics of your resto , what an awesome job. I feel I will never have everything correct so I am doing a semi custom to my liking.

Thanks....
Lady was far from original when i got her, so I did a few custom things to her, too.
It all blends in somewhat and is tasteful.

Thanks again for those chrome pieces - they made a huge improvement!

Well I am backtracking a little , I had all the windsheild stuff put together but I decided to replace the vinyl top strip. Not to bad under neath. Little spot putty did the job. I am done with the new vinyl and it looks great. I will get a pic in a little while.

I started with a bead of adhesive on the vinyl on the chrome trim side all the way across the windshield and let it dry and reinstalled the windshield trim right away , then pulled it tight from there , and installed all parts right away to help hold it stretched. It was pretty easy. I actually used a tube of adhesive instead of spray , thats all I had on hand. Dont leave a pile of extra vinyl at the outside corners.

More progress

Well it is out of the garage !
Got new tires today , buy 3 get one free at tires plus ,4 tires installed and balanced for 295.00 out the door they are a spinoff of goodyear. backs are pretty big ,glad I have air shocks( 275/60r15) and fronts are pretty small (205/65r15) but I like the stance. I like wide rear tires to make the car look tough , but factory mags look real nice to.
still need to get the body sanded and buffed for the last time.
some hood chrome and emblems to install and finish exhaust.
align hood and it should be done.
still not sure how I am going to get the hood pulled foward 3/8'.

Thanks Oldslover.
I dont think the hinges are bent ???
I am thinking of loosening the bolts and get 4 guys to reef on the hood foward and see if we can pull something straight , kind of like a BMFH but wont leave dents. LOL

I am starting my '70 convertable restoration. I noticed that on some of the progress pics that your rear outer wheel wells required replacement. Where those replacement parts or where they made in the shop? If they are replacement parts, where did you order them from?
