1966 Cutlass-Lost Ignition Keys, Switch Help
Howdy fellas,
I searched and found a good thread on "How to Change the Ignition Switch" with the keys and a paper clip but I have LOST my keys. I have the whole switch out of the dash sorta hanging but man it is a back breaker for a big guy like me to crawl in there to get to it. I have no clue what the trick is to release those 3 prongs so I can buy a new ignition and trunk keys (I have the trunk open already). There has to be a trick to get this switch disconnected and I have just wore myself out trying to get the switch and wiring where I can even get my hands up IN that dash much less maneuver some **** around LOL . If you have a procedure I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Yeah. Assuming the locks haven't been changed, take off the inner door panel, remove the door lock cylinder (pull out the horseshoe spring clip), and read the four character code stamped in the side of the cylinder. The door and ignition keys are the same for 1966. You can either take this code to a locksmith or PM me with it and I can cut you a new key for a nominal cost. Same for the trunk cylinder. Remove the two screws on the retainer, pull the cylinder out, and read the code on the side.

Never mind I got it...holy crap you should have seen me all pretzel-ed out in that car...LMAO. I am gonna have to really look over the wiring to make sure I dont set a fire when I attempt to start him up...wow;
Now I need an ignition switch-key and trunk lock set that are a pair or hell a quad for all 4 lock sets...SEARCH time.

Oh man....lemme guess...the doors and the ignition are the same key and the trunk is another? Great that means I get to try to remember how to get that damn e-clip off the window crank. I have an e-clip remover tool, I just gotta remember how to executed the removal....Man getting old sucks LMAO but my tool is not a door panel e-clip remover, that much I know LOL.

I tried that, twice each with 2 different towels,,,failed :facepalm:
See I have to accomplish something here. I have to practice working in this car, not getting as pissed, not cussing as much and not tearing **** up as much LOL, So far I need a LOT more practice. However, I have stopped a few times, chilled out and came back to it later and got it done w/o tearing anything up so that's a positive. I will try a towel again today.
Thanks so much for the suggestion
