Hi everyone.

Beautiful out. A little muggy. No rain and that's okay. I need to do more yardwork this weekend.

So I'm not going to get my van. The church hasn't received my money yet so obviously they don't want me to pick it up. I'm in no rush, except now it will be two weeks before I can go again, since I'm going to my Mom's next weekend.

Jamesbo that price is a wager between how much you will pay or not. Shock absorbers for an Amphicar were once 250 apiece. That's because the guy that made them knew he was the only game in town and pushed the price up arbitrarily until people stopped buying them. He actually made the comment, if people will spend 250 on one shock absorber, they'll buy anything. So evidently 800 is the threshold where people almost stop buying refrigerator compressors.

So I've noticed the Cruze is getting progressively worse and worse gas mileage. It used to average well over 40 but now is around mid 30s. So that's it for the Cruze. I've had other cars that had some sensor or whatever go bad and it's like pulling teeth to get the dealer to do anything. It's always the same answer. There's nothing really wrong. Our computer doesn't show anything. My favorite was the Ford dealer telling me about my 97 Escort. We know it has a problem but we don't know what it is.

Time for Friday. Last night was good. We had the higher ups bring in dinner and gave a Town Hall meeting to update us with what's going on in the company. Most of it was gee-whiz info that meant nothing to us. But we did have cake at the end.

So have a good weekend everyone. I've got an extra day to fill, good for me.

Hi everyone.

Slow to get going today. Got home a little late this morning, woke up around noon, wasn't feeling it, woke up at 130, wasn't feeling it, stayed in bed until almost 3. Heck I might as well go into work tonight, the day is gone.

Dan that's too bad about the car show. I guess you'll have to go to California for some shows until winter is over. Or take in some museums.

Jamesbo I've been long priced out of Amphi anything. I can barely afford to buy parts for my car, much less buy another car. The current president of the club spent a boatload(as it were) of cash on his car. He's retired and has endless amounts of money and doesn't understand that I'm not and I don't.

Guess I'll do something to try and salvage this day. Whatever it is I'm solo, because I don't have Tiger's car. Maybe I'll swap out the Cruze for the truck. Hm, won't be long before they are both the same mpg.

Okay have a good afternoon everyone.

Morning all

Lovely day here in Londonistan. Strange October weather, 75 degrees. Warm air is being pushed up by the remnants of one of your hurricanes.

Busy busy day yesterday. I hosted a special fund raising night for my charity. A sit down meal and a Cockney singer for 110 people including 6 London Mayors. Worse part though is a massive clean up today. Went really well and we raised nearly 2k.

Good morning everyone.

Didn't sleep worth two hoots last night. Of course why would I when I slept until 3 in the afternoon? Got up and shared a hot dog with Tiger about 2.

Overcast today. Don't think it's gonna rain. Actually kind of pleasant out. Think I might do some yardwork today.

Jamesbo I don't think that's something I'd ever turn down.

London I think just once I'd like to attend a black tie affair. Not sure for what, it would just be fun to dress up in a tux and hang out with rich people for an evening.

Well it's off to the Awful house, without my assistant I'm afraid. For one the Tigermobile is absent, and for two I need to go to Walmart, which is someplace he can't go. He won't be happy but them's the breaks. Have a good Sunday everyone.

Mike, next month is the awards ceremony for my wife's Lifetime Achievement award and it's a really posh black tie event. I've got a nice smart tux and a gold waistcoat. It's being hosted by an English celebrity and there are over 500 people attending. As the wife's award is the most prestigious one it's the last one of the evening. It's being hosted in a really nice West end hotel in the city. I've paid for three table with thirty people, as its so special I've also paid for ten rooms in the hotel. Ouch!

Jamesbo, what do you mean you didn't get your invite, perhaps I didn't put the correct postage on it!

My truck goes in tomorrow after some idiot on his cell rammed me from behind. Not too much on mine but his car was mangled.

Rain should be done some time tomorrow morning, area's south of me got 8 1/2". I am a Great, great uncle now that my great niece had a kid. She's way up in the toolies, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so far west that she had the munchkin in Green Bay, as there are no facilities near where she lives in Michigan. Must of come down with something over the last few days, as I was tired constantly at work last week and through yesterday, went to bed at 2:30am (typical) and got up at 1:00pm today!!! Bad headache most of the day, so I took some day quill. Hopefully doing better in the a.m.

Good morning everyone.

Well I didn't expect rain this morning. Hope it clears up so I can go to Summit tonight. It will be the last one I can go to, next week is the last one but I'll be at my Mom's.

London there's no putting a price on an award like that. Your wife still doesn't know she's getting it? How are you going to explain going to the dinner and all the people you're taking?

Dan there's something going around here that a lot of people are getting. Hope you're not down for the count too long.

Slept way better last night. Went to bed before 11 because I could hardly keep my eyes open. Slept until 7. Tiger slept in the other room, which is probably why I slept so good. Not sure what to do today, inside stuff for sure.

Ah, Monday. Last day off. Hope everyone has a good day.

A correction to my last post, my great niece had her kid in Iron Mountain, which is at the Wisconsin border, 2 1/2 hours west of where they live. Her testing that she had during her pregnancy was in Green Bay.

Mike, I think I'm confusing you. This award she knows all about. She had to go before a selection committee and has made it the the final four in the whole of thr UK. The other award, which is a Royal honour, she knows nothing about this. That one takes up to 18 months to receive the ok from Her Majesty's office. They go through your life in minute detail to see if you are worthy or not. I'm hoping for an O.B.E or even a C.B.E (google it)
There's even a small chance she could be made a Dame. As long as she doesn't want me to call her by her title then I will be happy for her with whatever she gets.

Weird weather today. Really warm but hazy and the sky has a yellow tinge to it because of the dust kicked up by the hurricane off of Ireland. I'm still in shorts and t shirt.

Dan, sounds like man-flu, better have some time to yourself and chill out.

Well look at me. I now have a smart phone. Only took how many years? Too bad John isn't here to gloat. Anyone want to make a bet as to how long it takes for me to get frustrated with it and slam it against the wall? Yes I got the insurance.

London I think I'm still confused but we'll leave it at that. I perused the OBE and CBE and it sounds like a big deal. If she gets top honors, would that make you Mr. and Dame London Cutlass, instead of Mr. and Mrs?

My Mom's favorite actress is Dame Judy Dench.

Okay I'm gonna go not play with the phone. I find it weird that most people when they have even one spare minute will sit and tap on the front of their phones. The guy in the store today had to show my phone to everyone there and everyone who walked in. I said, what's the big deal. He didn't know quite what to think of me.

Well I wandered around the woods the past 4 days and have nothing in the freezer to show for it. Did wake up with a cold yesterday. So there is that.

Mike congrats on making it into the 21st century.

I did get up close and fairly personal with a moose this weekend. That was fun.

Hi everyone.

Day 2 with the infernal smart phone. When it would ring I would tap the phone button and nothing would happen. So of course the call would end and then I'd open the phone and call right back. That happened at Summit last night and the guy I was standing next to said give it here. He "swiped" the phone button and it answered. Sheesh. And there's no instruction book with the thing so I was just supposed to be born knowing how it works.

Beautiful out, I don't think it got over 60 today. Gonna be chilly tonight. Speaking of Summit, not a huge showing but a nice group. It was dark by 7 so the show had a different look to it. Kind of neat. That's the last one for me, as the last one for good is next week and I won't be home.

So question for the business-type. If you were going to buy a vehicle and depreciate it over time for tax purposes, do you have to start with a brand new vehicle or can you buy a used vehicle, or start depreciating one you already own?

Monday for me, only three this week. No clue what's in store. A few of us had to go have a pow wow with the foreman about another guy last week. Foreman didn't like what he heard. Said guy is on vacation but will be back later this week, should be interesting to see if he actually gets what-for from the foreman.

Okay have a good night everyone.

Mornin all.

Jamesbo, While hunting Elk last weekend, A young Bull Moose came around to where I was over looking a small stream. He was very easy going and quite curious. He kept getting closer and closer until I thought we may have an issue if he got much closer, so I took a picture of him with my phone when he was about 25 feet away. The shutter sound of the phone scared the bejeezus out of him and he scrambled off and then watched me from about 50 yards away. It was the highlight of the hunting trip.

Have a day all

Mike, I'm no CPA but I don't think it matters new or used. But it does apply only to vehicle used for business purposes. And NO going to the Aweful house isn't considered business. Ya jes have ta determine the "useful life" [in years] and divide that by the value and right off the amount every year

Clint, I never knew there were moose in Colorado.

Welp, Day lites burning

Evening,

Mike, if my better half gets to be a dame unfortunately I will still be plain old Mr.
I run my truck through my business and I manage to lose all of my costs through the business including fuel, repairs and insurance and my accountant depreciates it yearly. I'm supposed to keep a log of journeys made and mileage but I don't bother.

Not much to report today. Weather. Getting colder. Rainy and dull today around 60.

Hi everyone.

Just glorious out today. 61 and sunny. Got into the 40s last night, it was a bit cool. Might think about a jacket tonight.

Yes my depreciated vehicle would be used for a business. And Awful house is absolutely deductible if I conduct business while I'm there...

Not feeling terrific today. Got a headache trying to come on and I didn't sleep very well. Tiger was unusually clingy today, which is always good, except when he wants to crawl into my pocket it's a little hard to sleep.

Day 3 with the infernal smart phone. It would ring last night and I'd swipe the phone button and nothing would happen. I'm this close to reactivating the flip open phone and throwing this one in the trash. So far the flip open phone is WAY better.

Second night tonight. Last night was okay, not terrific. Did get home a little early which was a surprise.

Okay time to head out. Have a good Hump Night everyone.

Jamesbo, Colorado reintroduced Meese back in '78. they have done really pretty well. The missus sees them regularly on her trips to North park for hay.

Dan, It would have been a much different story had I not been in the woods with a high powered lead slinger.

Hi everyone.

Woke up this afternoon and thought, it should be warm outside. Then got up and thought, it's cold in the house. Looked at the tstat and it said 64. Holy cow. It didn't hit 70 outside until around 4. I believe fall is here.

Thanks Clint. Headache went away mid way through the night, but was back this afternoon. I think it's mental.

Not ready for Mom's. Funny, when I was younger I'd be ready days in advance for a trip. Now it seems I can't be bothered. It won't take too long, however my needs are going to be abbreviated.

The Tigermobile has been in the shop for going on two weeks. Haven't heard a word. So I went in there this afternoon and the guy says State Farm is holding him up not letting him buy the parts he needs. Funny, I don't remember that being part of the agreement. I said fine just give it back I'll bring it back later. Oh no, it's all taken apart. So now I need the car this weekend and don't have it. I called the adjuster and after twenty minutes in a phone tree and talking to four people who don't know anything, got his voicemail. Of course he hasn't called me back. Probably good that he didn't(for him) I was pretty heated.

Okay Friday. Gonna be the black truck going to Mom's, I'll pick that up tomorrow afternoon. Hope work is benign tonight. Another one and it's the weekend. Have a good evening everyone.

Hi everyone.

Got home late this morning and slept most of the day. Big surprise. Wasn't a bad night at work. Easy stuff and a couple of them went back out anyway.

Got everything ready to take to Mom's. But, I'm going to leave at O'Dark Thirty in the morning, instead of tonight. No need to get there late, I won't get anything done today anyway.

It's warmer outside than it is in the house. I left the screen door open to see if it will warm up a little inside. I might have to crank up the stove tonight.

Clint you weren't hob knobbing with this guy were you?

Ya know, I've got a routine as to how I get my car out of the garage every day. Start car, push the door opener on the the visor to open the garage door, put in reverse, start backing up while looking out for the mailman, and anything else that might be out there, and now use the backup camera on the Hyundai. Piece of cake. Friday, get in vehicle, start car, notice that there is crud on the windsheild, activate wipers and washer, looks good, lets go.....whump! #&*$!!!!

Dan, was it the mailman?

Mike, Thats kind of who he acted like.

Windy yesterday. We didn't do diddly yesterday. sat on the couch all day. Doesn't happen very often, but I still feel guilty for letting a day go. Gonna get cooler this week, and our last race of the season is on Sunday. I'm ready for it to be over.

It was the garage door. It's cedar, and did a number on it. The Hyundai is fine. I got out of my routine by turning the wipers & washer on, instead of hitting the garage door opener.

Evening. Was weekend away at north meeting friends, today got early from work so used some time to fix my H*NDA..

Nothing exciting. Saw first snow at saturday-night/sunday evening, noone currently, but promises more at some point of this ongoing week. Swapped winter-tires under also today.

Not much else. Have a nice week everyone.
