Hi everyone.

Just about ready to go. I stayed up all day after work and got quite a bit done. Then hit the sack around 6 and got up a little while ago. I thought it would be nice sleeping without the dogs here, so I'd be undisturbed, but I kept waking up wondering where the dogs were. And then it started raining and thundering. Eh, sleep is overrated.

Well have a good week everyone. I'll be sans-computer till I get home. I'm stopping on my way to my friend's to see a car(big surprise) and then it's the Chicago Auto Show. Can't wait.

Soggy in da' swamp... hopefully will dry out today. Sounds like there was some damage in N. LA and elsewhere, so I'm delighted we weren't driving yesterday.

Still trying to settle back in. It's amazing how much overhead there is to this shuttling back & forth.

Mike, glad you have a little breather. Glad y'all found that broken bracket.

Didn't know Craftsman ratchets (and I guess sockets?) were now Chinesium. I bought one of those 100-piece sets after Katrina in the blow-mold case and although they weren't as stout looking as my old big set I had bought in '78 (victim of Katrina), they were U.S.A. But that was 10 yrs ago. I noticed that the newer sockets had much thicker walls, no doubt b/c the metal is inferior. Can't fit 'em in to some of the places the ol' thin-walled ones used to go. Pretty amazing that Sears didn't have a 1/4" ratchet. But we all know Sears stores ain't what they used to be. BTW, I just ordered two pairs of jack stands and an air ratchet from them... couldn't beat the price... I could protest my real feeling for them and shop elsewhere, but then I figger it'd be cutting my nose to spite my face.

Speaking of that, I've been pretty disappointed (maybe an understatement?) with Sam's in the last few months, so we signed up at Costco yesterday. It was an impressive first visit... I think I'll have a lot of fun browsing the store for hours over the next couple months. Lots of neat stuff -- although I did notice yesterday that they seem to make no effort at all to sell "Made in U.S.A." anything. 75% of the stuff I picked up was either China, Pakistan, Mexico, Timbuktu, etc.

We had the exact same problem with our shower here at the Plantation. It was all no-name Chinese stuff. We had a plumber over who charged us thru the wazoo to put some decent-looking plugs in the wall sprayers, since replacements were not to be found. I hate it, but I hate the thought of ripping the whole thing out even worse.

Y'all have a warm, dry one, Oldsmopals.

p.s.: Glad you said that about the 'Files, London. Watched last night -- all I can say is "Interesting"! The previews for the "finale" next week are even more interesting. Talk about a bunch of geezers; poor Cancer Man looks like he really did die and then was raised (maybe from TWD?). And the beard does nothing to make Skinner look younger IMHO. But I know I look a lot more "geezerish" than I looked 13 yrs ago.

Well John "Sears ain't what it used to be" may be the understatement of the decade.

Trip 2 to Sears today yielded 1 1/2 drive and 0 1/4 drives in the whole place. Another "Delivery" is schedule fer Friday

Dunno, but I bet you a dollar to a doughnut they will be stolen, scrapped and never seen again in about 2-3 days. I mean come on, just a few blocks from five points...

I head up that way tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it.

Whelp I'd better get off of here and try to get some rest, I'm gonna need it.

Evening everyone. Here at Orlando international airport waiting for my flight, it leaves at 8:55. If you guessed that meant that I have jury duty tomorrow, you'd be right. Could not postpone it unfortunately so I had to leave the meeting early. At least I got to spend a day and a half down here in the warmer weather. When I left NY, it was 6 degrees, today it was 81. I went outside today at lunchtime just to take advantage. Not looking forward to freezing my a$$ off again.

London - I missed the last episode of the x files, it's waiting for me at home on the cable box. Sorry to hear that you had to deal with all the auto paint issues.

John - I went to buy a new craftsman 3/8 inch ratchet about 2 years ago and they were made in China then. I ended up buying an S-K one, it's US made and a high quality piece.

Beauteous day in da' Bayou State. Wish I could share it with all. In fact, it's predicted to be so nice the rest of the week, a few of us are planning on a little M/cycle ride Friday morning. It'll be three Harley's and my Yammie. Not sure where, but that's never a problem... an hour or two, stop for a huge meal, and then ride home -- that's usually the recipe.

Jamesbo, if I saw Gillian in the mirror, I'd head to the plastic surgeon's, or at least the barber.
Better half & I have begun watching the originals from the beginning -- AGAIN. Last night during dinner we watched Season 1 Eposode 4 ("Conduit"). I can still see how I got hooked from the get-go. The new ones are interesting and pretty good -- especially compared to other network shows; they just don't have the magic of the originals. Plus, Scully & Mulder were so much easier to look at 22.5 yrs ago....

Y'all have a fab Humpity, Oldsmobuddies.

Her declaration of sexual preference a few years back didn't help her desirability in my eyes -- Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Of course, Mariska has a Seinfeld connection: she played the "Elaine" part during the crazy arc of filming the "Jerry" sitcom within the show.
My mind's made up, but I'll let the viewer decide.

I gotta go with Mariska, she's hot. What surprised me about Gillian Anderson was when she was on Top Gear, and had a English accent, I never knew that she was a Brit until then.

No politics or religion but sex is a great subject

London, I wouldn't kick her out bed fer eating crackers I jes never [to my knowledge] kissed a bicycler after she [oooooooooooooops better not go there and push the envelope too fer]

Back to TV hot chicks. There are alot of them.

I'll bet John [cause we're close to de same age] started [like me] running home from grammar school to turn on de ole Black and white Philco to see Annette don[ not jes a set of mouse ears] but a VERY tight sweater. I prayed fer a cold snap to improve her beauty.

IMHO Angie is anutter one

Mernin', all. A chill in da' Swamp air. 37 here. But I guess compared to 11 last week for me, that's downright steamy.

Nuttin' wrong with Angie. I

London, Gillian is about as British as I am. She lives there now, but was born in da' Windy City (Illinois -- same state as my lovely). She took on that British accent (at least the first time I ever heard her "do" it) when she did "The Fall," which I started watching after hearing Rush Limbaugh (of all sources) sing its praises a few years back. The result was that I got the better half hooked on it, but I lost interest after a few episodes.

Honestly, the more I learn about celebrities I think I like, the less I like them. I'll leave it at that.

Nuttin' wrong with Angie. As far as da' Mouskateers, I looked more at the faces back then than the sweaters. I liked Darleen (Gillespie). Looking back, I guess she wasn't exatly Brigitte Bardot.

Whelpt, it's back to Costco today just for fun. (Perhaps I need to check my temperature.)

Have a great one, Oldsmobuds.

That's a good one. So John she was faking the accent? I'm surprised that Jeremy Clarkson didn't call her out.

The accent must be quite easy for her to change as although she was born in Chicago she grew up in North London not too far from me.
Suppose she thinks it sounds more intelligent in an English accent. Can't say that works for me though!!

Evening everyone, back home again. 34 windy and sunny today, think I prefer Florida's weather, LOL.

Jury duty was fun, I got selected for a jury for next Monday. Only supposed to be a one day thing, lets hope so.

Mike -safe travels, what kind of car are you going to look at?

Jamesbo - yes, I think Angie Harmon is hot too, she's got my vote for an older woman. Jessica Alba is still one of my favorites.

Good morning everyone.

Got home about 1 last night. Had a great time at the auto show. The car I went to see was a bust. So I drug around an empty trailer for a week, no big deal.

Got lots of catching up. Yes I miss a lot not being home. Yet another reason to have one of them smart phones.

The car I was going to see was a DAF. They made trucks forever and decided to make little bitty cars. They are from Holland and everyone had one. How this one got here I don't know, but it looked to be a federal car so they must have sold them here for a short time.

Gotta go get the dogs from jail and get things going around here. Happy Friday everyone.

Howdy all.

End of another long Friday. Tomorrow I'm off to the Excel centre in East London for the London classic car show. My bank manager was trying to impress me and got me complimentary VIP tickets.
I will try to post some pics over the weekend.

Kwik check-in... gor-joo-us day for a motorcycle ride.... Was really nice. Covered about a hundred miles all in the great state of Louisiana, then had a dozen oysters on half shell at one of my favorite joints, Morton's, in Madisonville. A good time was had by all, and the Yamaha sang like Mario Lanza.

BTW, from my perspective, Angie is still a young'un.

Y'all have a great weekend, Oldsmopals.

Hi everyone.

Good day to sleep. But now it's raining and it isn't supposed to until Monday. Well, if it gets it out of the way then my days off will be sunny. Ya, lets go with that.

Work tonight. I had put in for a new job a few weeks ago and talked with the guy on the way home Thursday. Tonight I need to fax him back a letter he emailed me saying I formally accept the position. It's cabin work, which I used to do a long time ago. Not thrilling, but it isn't changing engines, it isn't working out in the rain, and it isn't my current department. He didn't know when I'd start working but it shouldn't be far off. Hope it doesn't interfere with my trip coming up.

Okay off to it. Have a good weekend everyone.

Evening everyone. A nice one here today, was 55 and sunny.

I used some of the day to finish installing vinyl on the 63 Riv center console and to clean and detail the car. Even got it out for a nice ride. Haven't had any of the old rides out now for over a month due to the crappy weather and the salt all over the roads.

Can't wait for spring, have a good night all.

Gee, Dan, we were out late last night for a change at some old friends' house and I hadn't even heard... That's downright awful. Lord have mercy on the victims' souls.

Hope the new job works out well for you, Mike. Sounds like your working conditions (at least) will be improved.

Nice you got a chance to have a short Riv cruise in February, Darrell. I'm guessing you've posted pic's before, but it would be great to get a memory-refresher. ;-)

Caught a bunch of bugs with the Avalon last night, and got my share of 'em on the bike Friday; so it was de-bugging and washing for those two vehicles this morning. Bike looks so nice... I hit the exhaust pipes with a little chrome polish for the first time in its life; it DO make a difference.

Whelp, better half headed to see Mom this week and I have to finish my weekend honey-do's. Have a great resto'weekend, Oldsmobuds.

Hi everyone.

Been spitting rain all day and cloudy. Slept good up until about 2, then the dogs were relentless. Not because of the rain, just bored.

Dan that's awful. I didn't know Kalamazoo was a shooting gallery. The news item on facebook says the suspect is in custody.

John I'm a big fan of the Nethercutt museum in California. JB was a huge car guy, even though he made his fortune with cosmetics(his aunt, Merle Norman, started the business). He would take his priceless one-off cars on a road trip to a concours, and then have to get the bugs off so he'd take first place. His secret? "Float a little kerosene on top of the water."

Friday. Last night wasn't so bad, I involuntarily volunteered for a sheet metal job late in the game. I was told a threshold was ripped and needed fixing, what I wasn't told was it was a cargo door threshold and half the plane had to come apart to use a part that was ill-fitting. After my first workwith cut his hand open when the hole finder snapped, my second workwith said, eh, let's wait on dayshift.

Darrell here's hoping for more cruise days soon. I don't think I've seen a picture of the 63, either.

Okay have a good night everyone.

They had info on the shooters location at roughly 12:45 am, but I had to get to bed, as I worked today. Some guy w/o a criminal record went on a spree, I guess in the upcoming days we'll know why. Correction: no eight year was killed, that info came from one of my friends in Kalamazoo, the local news says six, with a 14 year old in critical condition, fighting for life, and another adult wounded, expected to recover.

Evening everyone. Weekend blew by but don't they always.

Dan - wow, sorry to hear that. It was not on the news around here yet, I'm sure it will be tomorrow.

Mike/John - I've had the Riv since high school, about 25 years already. My grandmother was the original owner so I know the complete history. Every time I drive it, it reminds me of being a teenager again. Only 1 repaint (over 20 years ago), 90k original on the car 401 Nailhead, 445 ft lbs of torque, Dynaflow trans. Here's a pic of the exterior. I'll try to shoot one tomorrow of the interior.

Hi everyone.

Got home around 530 this morning, not bad for a Friday. Yes it has been raining here, no thunder so that's good. Not sure what I want to do today.

Darrell that's a beautiful car. I've owned a couple of my cars for around that amount of time, but they don't look that nice. Something to be said about longevity.

The drama continues with the cars at the shop. I was told by a code officer that throwing a cover over a car was good enough but now this yard **** says it isn't. I have one over there with a cover over it, so I am going to hoist it up on a trailer. I know that will be okay and it will be a stick in the eye of the woman who persists. I heard the guy that called had told people at the monthly airport meeting that he didn't want anyone flying out at night, because it was disturbing to his daughter, who just bought a house at the end of the runway. When everyone told him to pound sand, he got mad. Honestly, some people.

Okay gonna find something to do. Have a good day everyone.

Dan, I guess we have to be grateful they're not on our front porches. The Cracker Barrel part hits me a bit close... we rarely miss one to & from the hills.
