Evening everyone, hope you all had a great week. Been working on some house projects lately and just about finished, outside at least anyway. Should have more time to get back on the computer to catch up.

Enjoy the weekend!

Big blue bird day down here in da' Swamp, to quote someone I know.

Whelpt, got a few things done, but not quite what I wanted. Nuttin' on da' Olds, although I did order a bunch of parts, which nowadays, is a job in itself. Still have a batch or two to go before the "big" pulldown I'm planning. Of course, I've been planning it for years. But you gotta' get the parts before you can replace 'em.

Hope you guys were able to manage for a few days w/out me... I know it was rough...

Y'all have a great weekend, Oldsmofriends. Will try & check back manana.

Don's (Ddbord) Last Post. He said good bye and hasn't been back since. I also was curious about him (asked this same thing several months ago but no one responded) so this time I did some leg work. Where ever he is and what ever he's doing I'm sure it will involve his beloved 1965 Jetstar 88 and memories of Marly.

Easy to see how Dynamic could be mistaken for Jetstar 1

A bit chillish today, I don't think it got above 70. Sun's out so it ain't all bad.

Darrell glad to see you. Been to see the pup lately?

It's Friday. Being Saturday things might not be so busy, dare I hope to get out a little early. Eh, I'm not worried about it. Because once I leave on Sunday morning they can't touch me until Wednesday night.

Okay have a good evening everyone.

Sun-day aptly named today

Mernin', folks... one of those rare fall days in da' Swamp; was in low 50s this morning and humidity was way down... low 30s or so. Makes me feel as if I'm living in a different state. No complaints whatsoever; wish it would stay around for a while -- although we really could use some rain; outside the shower last week that drowned us in the Park (lasted 5 minutes), we ain't had a real visit from Elsie in weeks.

Took the SF out for a little jaunt last night; same-old same-old w/ the brakes. There actually seems to be a friction-type noise from one of the wheels; but the drum faces are like a baby's behind, and the shoes look great on all the wheels. I hope it will all come out in the wash.

Anyhoots, Jamesbo sends his regards from the sands and shores of Topsail Beach, NC -- they're Internet free, so's he stuck w/ just his phone. Hope he and the S.M. have fun and don't get too sunburned.

Whelpt, y'all have a great one... I hear it's snowing in the Midwest & Northeast, so for that, I'm also grateful to be down in the big toe of the country.

Hi everyone.

Take two. A couple hours ago I sat down to opine and the power went out. No clue as to why. So I went to the junkyard. Turns out it was a good thing to do, I came out with an early 00's Silverado cup holder and a shift indicator for the Dodge van.

John you may have answered this before. Is your brake/pulling problem something you've always experienced in this car or is it something that just started happening? Usually if the brake hoses are clogged the brakes won't return, and not, not apply in the first place. Puzzling.

Hope Jamesbo is enjoying his vacation. I say I like to go on vacation, but I spend too much time worrying about the dogs and what's going on at home.

Got out of work a couple hours early this morning. Even with a bad lead on my Friday. I should write this day down.

One thing about these forums, people interact with each other every day and form groups and cliques, but one day someone will vanish never to be heard from again, and no one knows why. Eh, the nature of the beast I guess.

For my next act of bravery I'm going to clean out the gutters and clean the chimney. With it getting into the 40s at night(and I don't think it even hit 60 today) chances are supreme that the stove will get cranked up sooner rather than later. I haven't been up on the roof lately so it's a good chance to see what's going on up there.

Okay happy Sunday everyone.

Hey, Mike. The car has done exactly what it's doing now from the first time I drove it. Dunno... I'm just assuming at this point when I pull it all down, I'll find a screwed up wheel cylinder or a clogged brake hose... although I don't think either would account for the noise I heard last night.

Good morning everyone.

Jamesbo it sounds like the life. I have a beach here in the neighborhood, doesn't sound quite so inviting, though.

Cold this morning! I got up at 5 for my boy and it was 40. Not sure what it's supposed to get up to today, but the sun will be out.

John I gots no idear about the brakes. Kind of sounds like a cylinder hanging up, and you're way ahead of me there.

The gutters went well yesterday. They weren't all that bad. When I got new gutters a couple years ago they put 6" ones up to replace the 4" ones that were there. Huge difference. Also got the chimney swept out, but since I was the only one up there I didn't do the Step In Time dance.

Got a few errands to run this morning then I think I'll work on the Airstream. But now I'm rumbly in my tumbly, so it's off to the Awful house. Have a good Monday everyone.

Mornin all.

Darrell good to hear from you.

Mike. I'm not looking forward to the snow, but they say it's gonna be a bad one do to 'the boy'. We haven't gotten as cold as you yet, but thats spose to happen this week.

Jamesbo, that sounds wonderful. You have to remember I'm in a land locked state with very few ponds.

John, most of the bad hoses I've seen cause the car to pull one way when braking then they pull the other for a short bit after letting off the pedal.

MCKMA- Allan, I need a little help with that one?

Have a Monday all.

Mernin' all...

Whelpt, another in a string of glorious days we're having down here. You got 10* on us, Mike... it's 50 in da' Swamp. No rain again; humidity is as low as it ever gets here... down in the lo 30s.

Thanks, Clint. It doesn't do that... I'd swear it was a purely mechanical problem, but I'm pretty lost as far as this is concerned. What I see inside the drums just doesn't seem to jibe with the braking performance. I guess that's why I'm just going to pull it all apart and hope for the best. Ordered all new hoses and 2 new wheel cylinders and two kits. We shall see.

Jamesbo, that really sounds like my kind of place. When I was a kid (8-9-10 y.o.), each summer my family used to rent a little cottage for a week or so in Dune Allen beach (S. Walton) -- that's what your description reminded me of. It was a little piece of heaven for all of us. I'm sure it's much built up down there now, however.

Y'all have a fab one, Oldsmofriends.

Apparently the next generation is ready to see this as well, as I saw that my buddies 22 year old daughter bought advanced tickets online, I didn't know that she was was a SW geek...like her 10 year older brother who was recently picking apart the previous films as only a SW geek would.

Good morning everyone.

Just got back from the Awful house and Walmart. Also went to the credit union to count a buck fifty in spare change, in which I was credited 145.14. They said oh sorry, there's no way to balance that machine. Last time I do that.

Welcome Patrick and 11971four4two. I'm listening to the bluegrass right now.

Jamesbo is any of that deep fried?

Clint I keep forgetting Georgia is a coastal state. I used to hear all the time up home that it was warm all year long in Georgia and it never snowed. All lies.

Got down to 40 last night, and it was 59* in the house this morning. Guess I gotta call the gas company. Usually I'm not calling them for another month. Sunny out so it ain't all bad.

Last day off. Not sure what I want to do. I need to go to the shop and swap out trucks, give the black truck a break and bring home the van.

Well have a good day everyone.

Good evening everyone.

This is going to be a long week, but with a little fun. We're having a chili cook-off at work tomorrow and I've decided to participate.

The Cutlass is still being a little challenging, but supposedly that is part of the fun of owning a classic car

Took the Cutlass out for a short drive on Saturday after doing some work on it and it was snowing! Very light and it melted as soon as it hit the ground. We have had temperatures below freezing lately.

Welcome to the Good Morning thread m371961 and 11971four4two.

Have a good Wednesday everyone!

Howdy all

Quick check in...

Colder than expected this morning 41*F for the low here. And I believe we topped out around 76* F

Welcome to the "new" good morning thread Brian and m371961

Jim have some good seafood for me. I got jipped last time at the redneck riviera Say what is Crab Louie?

I scored these from a friend last night and was wondering if they were legit. The package says 1970 on the back. So my question is are these worth anything if left unopened or should I break into them and put them on my racing jacket?

Mornin all.

Scot. Those are neat. No help on if they have any value. the packaging looks period correct.

Paul if Sandy were here you know she'd be cussing you out for that four letter S word. Boy I sure do miss her bitching about the office and the fan, and, the heater...

Jamesbo, just keep on rubbing it in, would'ja? Maybe I'll crack open a can of chicken of the sea

Brian, My condolences.

Mike maybe you just live too far north in the coastal state? And scuse my ignorance, but whats with the little finger of land dipping down into Fl?

Dan, I'm not going the first night for sure, but I did see that $6.5Million of advanced tickets have been sold already. I suppose one of these days I should try to sit thru the second trilogy.

Rained all night and we had some nasty thunderboomers earlier in the night. I was sleeping thru them surprisingly, until the wife woke me to ask if the dog had his thundershirt on. Ummm. How would I know? spose to rain all day and a good chance tonight.

Have a Humpday all.

Scot, Crab Louie is fresh lump blue crab meat stuff in an alvacado with "Louie" sauce. I make mine with mayo, Old Bay seasoning, lemon and a very small amount of catchup [so small I stole a pack from Wendy's cause I didn't wanta buy any]

BTW cool score on de patches.

Make room for the CO gang, Jamesbo.... http://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/images/smi

Mernin', all.... Nudder dry one in da' Swamp; started out cool at around 60, spose to mosey on up to 80s. Soundin' like a wet weekend and beyond -- but we need it. I had to water the newer landscape bushes & such yesterday.

Better half visitin' Mom in Peoria. I guess there'll be a little nip up there.

Dunno why, but I'm gettin' the urge to have a seafood breakfast... . Crab Louie sounds mighty righteous, along with everything else. Hurry back home, Jamesbo... don't know how much more of the blow-by-blow menu's I can stand.

Welcome aboard, 11971four4two and m371961! If you dare try and act normal here, you'll stand out like a sore thumb.

Hope you had a good "Sunday," Mike, and managed to squeeze in a good "wind-down," as they said in a certain sit-com which shall remain unnamed.

Clint, I do miss those rants as well.... I didn't like her experiencing the grief at work (or at home); but to hear them always brought a smile to my face. God rest her soul.

Scot, rip those babies out of the packs so fast it makes your head spin. Great find...

As for me & SW, don't really dislike it, but not really a fan. I'm more w/ Jamesbo in being a fan of the original '60s ST. I need to get those on Blu-ray; have 'em all on 'regular' DVD now. Once every couple years, I'll watch them whilst I'm on the treadmill.

Personally, better half and I are counting the days to 11/6, which is the release date of the new Bond movie, Spectre. They never disappoint. We've been watching the "old" Daniel Craig ones to get psyhched out for the new one. We'll try and catch it on one of the "good" Imaxes on the S. Shore.

Anyhoots, I'm hungry, which is normal; but have no seafood except a can of Clint's Chik-O'-Sea. Soooo --- I'll prolly do some leftover baby lima's mit brown rice that I made over weekend.

Y'all have a great Hungery-Humpity, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

First night back. Slept okay today, got up around 1. Got up to 70 today and I don't think it's going to be quite as cold tonight as it has been.

Yesterday was a good one, John, got quite a few things done that needed it and then relaxed with the dogs who were oddly enough wanting to cuddle. Can't beat that.

Scot those patches will look great on your racing jacket.

Jamesbo don't forget to come home some day.

Clint I think that is where the map draw-er hiccupped when he was drawing the map.

Okay off to work. Have a good evening everyone.

Mornin all.

Mike, usually there is some natural border like a river or canyon or something to cause that. It just looks odd to me.

John and Dan, I never did get onto Bond much. I think I saw the Brosnan one and one of the Miller ones, but I couldn't tell you which ones they were.

Well Jamesbo, Whats for Brekkie today? Shigoku oysters and foie gras?

Well, more rain last night and 80% chance today.

Have a throwback everyone.

I have an answer for that Mike,

Life happened. Since my last post of over a year ago, I have been Divorced, Moved 3 times, and re married.
I am still on the prowl for that Deal of a century car, however the olds is taking a back seat, doing a Debt Elimination and looking for a car for the wife first, I have always wanted that "uncommon" car that you don't see tons of (like a Camaro or Mustang) and in talking with the new wife, We have made a decision as to what it will be. it's not an olds and I can't put an olds engine into it. but it is still that "uncommon" car

and I am back and browsing and I will occasionally post

OK, can't read any more here until Jamesbo returns to Hotlanta.

Carbon copy day -- maybe a tad warmer. Flirting w/ 90 again. The monsoon is comin', but they pushed it back to Monday now. Every time they tell us to batten down the hatches, it turns out to be a tempest in a pot o' tea. It's the unforeseen storms and deluges that kick our butts.

Great to see your name gracing our thread, Jef. Don't be such a strangler. Congrats on the new life... hope things play out nicely for you & the new missus. I'm sure you're right in your answer to Mike, but I've axed that question to myself on more than one occasion. Maybe they can smell bad breath through the keyboard, or our Arid Extra Dry is failing. We had a coupley women-folk come around earlier this year. They left as fast as they visited.

Whelpt, brought the Avalon in for its 1-yr oil change today. Toyota is gracious to give owners two changes -- one now and one next year. It's a full synthetic change, so I figure it's worth the wait. They also rotated the tires. It says $85 on the ticket and I paid nothing, so as my BIL would say, "Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick."

Anyhoots, y'all have a great resto'day, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

Carbon copy day here, too. Just over 70, sunshine, gonna be low 50s tonight.

Jeff life happens for sure. I hope yours stays on the positive side now. Are you still a time management person? I still think we should change time once a month.

Clint I did some looking and that finger is the St. Mary's river. It comes off the ocean and looks to go into a swamp. Quite the storied river, also, with British and Spanish ships fighting the Americans back around George Washington days.

oops Time to go. And to think I gotta still do this one more time. Eh, 39 days and counting. Have a good night everyone, one more till the weekend.

Howdy All

Yep nice day here too...

Except for the fact my boss sends me to Augusta today @12 noon Then I get there, load up, leave, get on the interstate and that $#@! phord decides to blow an intercooler boot Thing makes almost 50 lbs of boost Loaded down with new carts I guess put a strain on that system because now it's skipping like a three legged dog Note to self : Talk boss into buying a real truck

Clint do glow plugs foul out? I dunno, I'm no diesel mechanic, maybe an injector went TU?

Thank you Clint. The patches look old as well. Some of that brown wax paper has bled ever so slightly on the Oldsmobile patch. That takes time. A long time. So I am thinking they are truly NOS.

Sounds good. You ought to try the stuffed flounder. Last time on Hilton Head at the Salty Dawg Cafe it was excellent. Thanks on the patches, I think I will take John's advice and rip 'em right outta there
