Hi everyone.

Got home a little early this morning and got a decent amount of sleep, and still have the whole afternoon to myself. Sunny here now but on the cool side.

Clint I rarely see a snake at any time of the year in the yard, and have never seen one close to the house until now. Strange indeed. Being on the lake snakes don't surprise me, we have all sorts of black snakes and water snakes. People have seen copperheads but I've only seen fake copperheads. Never seen a rattlesnake but I've heard there's some down by the spillway.

This is a good day to take a look at the vacuum lines under the Dodge van's dash. There's about 6 or 7 lines that run the air conditioning that are all in one plug, and the plug has disintegrated. So now I have 6 or 7 vacuum leaks. Oh and one of them squeals. I got a new plug from the junkyard, I hope it's as easy as using shrink tube to hold it all together. It would be nice to have my air conditioning come out the front, instead of the defroster.

Well have a good afternoon everyone. It's Hump Day. Whoo whooo!

Finally nailed the red squirrel that was getting into my garage, and I used a mortar repair to patch up holes in the foundation of my garage, I would reach up into a hole to see how deep it was, and pull out a walnut. I have a couple more holes to get, but I need to reinforce them due to their size in order for the mortar to set in place, of course now that the red squirrel is gone, the damn chipmunks will probably try to move in.

Mornin all.

Jamesbo. I always wanted a zero turn. Problem is I have a big yard for a walk behind, and too small a yard for a rider.

Mike, We just finished up some work on a nice 61 caddy Sixty-two coupe. and in a month or so he's spose to bring it back to get the A/C working. I've never seen a POV valve with a vacuum line attached to it. I have some learning to do.

Dan, Good luck with the Rodent control. We got the Rat trap set last night. and I have full coon trap this morning. I have to wait till the kid wakes up to go do the deed. The little JRT goes bonkers at the sound of the pellet gun.

Have a day all.

Nice day

Family coming dis mawn'in

De Beer is fer Donny. Dat's de way I entice him to come take a look. Like, I've said many times. He learned the golf course buz from his dad and is responsible for about 300 engines at the golf course. From tractors to mowers to weed whackers to blowers edgers and those funky floating mowers de use around greens and traps. IMHO there's no substitute fer experience.

De man's a genius.

Mornin,

Winter is coming

What do you guys think....will the VW emissions scandal bring down the company?

Getting tired of sanding, but the end result will be a nice looking convert

Clint, I am the same with my yard. Looked at a 4wd Massey with a deck underneath, but I was not about to spend 15000 on a toy tractor.

Have a day

Morning

Ted, Right now is a great time to buy VW stock. The company will bounce back. Isn't sanding fun?

Jim, nice to have a friend like that.

Scot, how's RWYB coming along?

The dahlias impressed me. Some of those tubers are the size of taters and they started out no bigger than a cigarette. Started the overwintering process for them. Tomatoes picked too as the leaves all hit by frost. Need some mulch to cover up the other perennials. If El Niño is true all should survive well. German statice is blooming and looks purty. The missus cuts it and has nooks in the abode where it spends the rest of its time. De Trash man is gonna love the stop at my place today .

Time to head out and visit wit de boys.

Hi everyone.

Just got back from the doctor. It was physical time, everything seemed fine. It was the usual, blood pressure is okay but could be lower. You need to lose weight. Find a way to sleep better. I'll get the bloodwork back in a couple weeks.

Ted does your convertible have power windows? Mine does not, and it's maddening. Might as well have to get out and lower the top myself also.

Jamesbo up home that's called a bribe. Nothing wrong with it.

Guess I'll do something before the rain starts. Be good everyone.

Mornin all.

Scot I'd love to see what Brit would do if I were closer. A guy with Brits twin sister in Idaho is in the 15's with just his 330 and a jetaway.

Mike, why would they ever be up? I wish Brit had power windows too. but I make sure I'm not in a rush when I'm driving her. She is only for R&R.

Allan, Is it supposed to be milder than usual for you? It's the opposite here. They are warning of 1982 blizzard like conditions.

Ted, No I don't think so. VW will bounce back and be fine. Someones palm will get greased and all will be well again.

Jamesbo. Are you gonna sample it at least before he drinks it all?

Well the coon weighed in at 34 lbs. yesterday. It didn't look that big from the trap. Nothing caught this morning, but I may leave it set thru the day and see what I catch.

Have a Friday all.

Mornin,

Clint, you are probably correct. The public tend to forget quickly
34 lbs...what are they eating!....is that a Malibu buried in the snow...or a ...what were they called...a liguna ?

Mike, the one I am working on know has no power windows. It has no back window either

Allan, sanding s##ks! For some reason, the PO buried this car in bondo...perfectly good metal underneath .

Have a day

Morning

Beautiful day yesterday so I got the trim on the outside second floor done. I didn't like being up on that angle roof because my meds make me dizzy. I was so glad to get down from there. The missus came out and kept me company to make sure I hadn't fallen.

Ted, if I was closer I'd be there to help you. I don't mind sanding. Wonder what gives with the bondo

Clint, yes sir the models for here show warmer than average and predict we might not even have a white Christmas. Loos like a 73 chevelle peeking out fro that mountain of snow. Truth is we could use the snow and I'm ready for it. If it doesn't snow we won't have near the traffic nightmare it usually generates.

Paul, enjoy those nice days while you can.

Scot, enjoy de R&R.

Good morning everyone.

Been to the Awful house and back already. No one there and no errands, so got most of the morning to myself. And it's raining, and has been since about 5 last evening.

In a big car(like a Cutlass) it's nice to push a button to have the windows go down, without stretching across the car to crank them down. Those ones in the back seat are far away. Heck power windows are nice anytime.

Scot safe trip to the beach, and have a great time.

Clint I remember snow like that. Glad I don't see it anymore.

Might do a little house cleaning today. Got all day to be stuck inside, yay.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone.

Not too bad a day here. I did some house cleaning this morning and then when the rain let up I went out and took a few parts off a parts truck.

John I'm going to get the most out of this day, because I have to stay up till about 2 or 3. Tomorrow is the first day back to work and I need to sleep in.

Jamesbo I was reading some old posts, trying to figure out if the 1966 88 ever came with a 330(I'll research a little more before I ask anyone) and found a post from 2009. A guy was asking some advice on buying an 88 and said he was from Myrtle Beach. You said, do you **** much? I thought that was a bit of a forward question until I kept reading and figured it was some sort of dance. Pretty funny, though.

Dan I have nut parts all over the yard and in the cars. Squirrels and ground squirrels are abundant at my house. Although, I haven't noticed as many lately, and I haven't seen any in the garage. Could be the owner of the 6+ foot snake skin I found on one of the shelves is keeping the population down.

My boy tells me it's time for a treat. I agree. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Hi everyone.

Rainy and gloomy all day. I didn't sleep worth a dern today. The dogs kept waking me up, and I just couldn't get comfortable. Finally got up around 1230.

Found a brochure online that gave the specs for the 1966 Oldsmobile full line. It said the Delta and the Dynamic came with the 425 2bbl, with the Starfire 4bbl motor an option. The car that was in question I'm not going to buy now, but at least it's something I'll know for next time.

My neighbor is home, sans the old man. Their agreement was they spend 6 months in Georgia, then 6 months in New Jersey. Well, the 6 months in New Jersey is up next month, but he said he's not leaving. So she said, fine, I'll leave for Georgia now. So she did. I was glad she was back, and then the son came over and brought his stupid dog, which causes grief with my dogs. Take the good with the bad I guess.

Work tonight. It isn't raining now and I hope it doesn't rain tonight. I have this strange feeling of tranquility I can't explain. Eh, I'm sure it will go away as soon as I get up there.

Okay have a good night everyone. Hope the weekend is going good.

Hi everyone. Been a while since I've had time to get on here so I figured I'd check in and say hello.

Been busy with the new work contract, and putting in some long hours the last couple of months. My free time has been tied up into yard and house work. I was in a tennis tournament for a week in July and nearly made it to the USTA nationals in Arizona next month. Oh well, there's always next year.

Family's busy with school as they started back up 3 weeks ago.

Hope everyone is doing well, look forward to catching back up with all of you.

Cheers!

Hi everyone.

Good day of sleeping until the dog showed up next door and my two started barking. Do you know how loud two big dogs barking is when you're sound asleep? Thunderous. Luckily he didn't stick around too long and we had a leisurely time this evening before work.

No rain but overcast all day. Last night there was continuous mist that was like standing next to a spray bottle. We had to run a test that required a complex and expensive breakout box so we got to come in about half way through the night. Me and another guy spent hours trying to install this one bracket for the slat pulley. I'm convinced airplane designers are either masochists or have no clue that anything else will attach to or come near their one part that they design.

Darrell glad to see you. I remember when the State of Illinois first started vanity plates, I think it was in the 70s, an article in the newspaper said one of the first plates to be issued was 10SNE1 .

Jamesbo I'm holding out. I don't care if I'm cold, I'm not putting on winter clothes until it's absolutely necessary. Of course, absolutely necessary will come at a time when I'm nowhere near a jacket and then I will cry like a little girl that I'm cold.

Okay night 2. Tomorrow is Monday for the rest of you. Hope the week starts out good.

Good Super Moon Lunar Evening

Elsie was kind to us on our trip. She rained on us until halfway to Florida on the way down. Beautiful overcast day Saturday and this morning Elsie decides to follow us to the GA state line on the way home. It's cloudy now and I doubt we get any visual of the eclipse.

Had a great time on the beach and visiting with the better half's fambly. We even trekked over to Pensacola to eat dinner once. The eating was mediocre at best this time. I guess all of the chefs were worn out from the peak season

Mornin all.

Scot at this altitude I'd be happy with low 15's. Glad you were able to get away even for a short while.

Mike sorry to hear about the dogs not getting along.

Darrell good to hear from you.

John, we are overdue for some humdinger snow storms. I'm going to go ahead and get ready in case it does happen, I just ordered a new plow for the new ATV I bought this year. And I have an old Bronco with a plow to sell.

Dan I took a few pic's but I couldn't hold the camera still enough for such a long exposure time, so they didn't come out so good.

Have a day all.

Good morning everyone.

Long night at work. Put my signature on three planes, the last one I got suckered out to an engine change. Seems the plane took off, the pilot got a low oil pressure light, they returned and the engine was 9 quarts low. That's about half.

Clint my dogs don't get along with any other dogs. When the son's dog comes over next door they want to bark at it, and if they are all outside at the same time they run up and down the fence barking. The biggest problem, besides the dog being here in the first place, is that they just leave it outside the whole time, so we don't have a chance to go out with any peace. I'm planning on building a fence but I'm not sure that will solve the problem.

Scot I'm off Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday this week. My first weekend day off is October 18. This work thing sucks. If I have my way, after November I'll be off forever.

No moon or eclipse for us last night, it was cloudy as can be and more mist. So we'll just have to wait until 2033 to see it again.

Okay off to bed for me. Have a good day everyone.

Mornin,

More sanding, and got the trunk to close properly on the convertable...a hinge was twisted and bent

Clint, winter is a coming....i bought a 1989 Fud with a fresh 460 with a plow....just to do my lane ways. I would not be able to afford the gas if I put plates on it

Allan, what's up my friend? I think with this car the metal fabricating was not that great....the PO compensated with bondo

Mike, you planning on retire ring after November?

Scot, you still hauling golf carts around?

Clint, ya need a tripod for long exposures. I guess it cleared just south of me, oh well. About 1 am last night I was watching the tube, and and noticed the cat's attention was directed toward the area where I have a rat trap & peanut butter, so I get up & have a look, about that time a polecat comes from around the front of my car, heading for the trap, I'm thinking "SNAP" & SPRAY, and I am trying to get the cat off of the window sill so I can close the window, just in case, well he thinks "no this'll be great!" ..."My ***, get down from there", well, enough commotion was being made that the skunk took off...whew. The skunk was a negative of a typical one, about 75% white with a black stripe, well gotta go, got a squirrel in the trap.

Hi everyone.

Rain today and I didn't even know it. At some point my girl got up on the bed with me, but I didn't realize why. It wasn't raining very hard and my boy probably didn't hear it. He hangs out in the hall bathroom, no windows and in the middle of the house.

Ted my company is offering an early retirement package that I'm seriously considering. Not sure what I'd do after I separated but I'm tired of working on airplanes. I'm years away from real retirement but I can get a small severance and retirement health insurance and still keep my flight benefits.

Dan a skunk is something I don't see around here. Smell one very rarely. Not saying I miss it. I know a few people who are skunks.

Scot happy happy to your daughter. I foresee the cast of Spartacus descending for a shindig.

Okay off to work. It's Friday already. Have a good evening everyone.

Mornin all.

Mike we have plenty of skunks this year. I don't think any are living on our property, but across the street in the ditch I think there are some. Smell them almost daily. My dog's do ok with others as long as it's not here at home. they have the property protection thing down pat.

Dan, I have a tripod but didn't think about it in time to get it set up. Maybe if I start setting it up now I'll have it ready for the next eclipse.

Scot. 13.65? in what?

Ted, I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm getting ready just in case. I need to get the skidder over here at the house (Bobcat for you Jamesbo) so the missus can do some prep, too much to do and not enough time to get it done.

Allan, Hope all is well.

Have a day all,

Mornin

Seems to be quite a few skunks and red squirrels around this fall. Makes for cutting the lawn fun.....the squirrels knock the cones off the spruce and pine and they become missiles, and the holes the skunks dig are great for the back when the mower falls into them

Clint, one can never be too prepared for winter! I always try to start early....

Mike, I had a career change at 50. I collect money instead of busting my a## trying to make it all the time...also , like yourself and planes, I got tired of what I was doing. Hope it works out for you...

Scot, if I keep working on these old cars I may need a cart or two

Getting another hoist in the shop today...better get at it...

Have a day

Mernin', all...

Weather's been cookie-cuttin' lately.... little sun, lotsa' clouds, muggies, and mild temp's. Clint, it seems the weather over by you is as different from here as it is from Timbuktu. We somewhat parallel the boys in GA, but we're generally hotter and muggier. It's not Bali Hai down here, but don't think I could deal with the snow you guys and Allan (among others) get.

Scot, it was your daughter's birthday yesterday? Wow!@ We must be the same age... mine too. Went & ate sushi at one of our fave places down here in Hammond; a very nice evening. Glad y'all had a good trip to da' beach. I can almost remember when I used to do that (before tying the knot with a better half that hates beaches).

Jamesbo, did whitey cooperate? Just for kicks & grins: the Hotlanta hotel called better half last nite at 6 p.m. and told her they had a room for her. The conference was this mornin, and the flight was scheduled to leave from N.O. 15 minutes before they called. Needless to say, she's here dis mornin'.

Can't wait to get some chilly air in da' hills soon. Methinks we will cook an early Thanksgiving bird this year for the family at large and hop up to da' mountains after dat.

Ted, good fer you! Don't know exactly what you mean, as I'm guessin' you ain't a numismatist. But I prolly get the general idea.

Mike, don't know what the other details of your package would be, or how you're set for the future; but wow, I'd sure have to give that serious consideration, myself. Could be a whole new lease on life. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Dan, sounds like you almost got Pepe Le Pew! Thank goodness for the commotion.

Whelpt, I've been having an Ipod Mini 4th gen here in pieces since February, needing a battery & click wheel. I worked on it for about 2 hrs yesterday then had to throw my hands up in defeat. The battery has 3 tiny solders that need desoldering, then resoldering. Between my lack of GOOD soldering equipment, my old-man close-up vision, and my tennis racket-size hands, the deck was stacked. There just comes a time when you have to throw up the white flag. My only regret was not sending it off from the get-go... Live & learn.

Whelpt, y'all have a great one, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

Rain off and on all day. Good day for sleeping, got up around 130. Almost seems to be clearing up now.

John another trip around? Sounds like your day was a success. Many returns of the day.

Ted I'm not 50 but not far off. Wish I had some better ideas as to what to do. Wasn't too long ago I wouldn't have considered leaving the company, but I guess times change.

Well, the dogs want their supper. Not a bad idea, but I think I'll fix myself something different. Have a good evening everyone.
