Morning All!

Crisp and cold here again. Temp at 32, heavy frost. Sun is shining!!! And such.....

Count em Jamesbo, you shi*!!!!

Clay is off today so it's quieter in here. I miss him when he's off. I'm glad it's Friday. Been a long week.

I got all of Nicoles rugs and such washed and dried and ready to pack away. She was going to take Tincanio over to Don Sitts for an oil change this afternoon for me, since he doesn't have convenient hours for me to do it, but I have to reschedule because she said her and her friends from class were going to do some running around later. They ain't doin it in Tincanio!! I'll take it on the 26th when I have a vacation day. I wanted to scrub the carpets and such that day, but have a dr. appt. at 1:00, then if I get an oil change there goes a couple more hours. I'm sure I can get a few bedrooms done in the morning, though.

We should get our bonus checks today. That will be nice. They messed up Brian's paystub yesterday - didn't have his year to date amount and deductions correct, so he called Houston and has been whining ever since. I hope they get it fixed soon.

Hopefully I will get Teepo put away this weekend. It's gonna be nice, so I will be driving her some. She needs cleaned soooo bad! She has been neglected, and such ....

Well you all have a good Friday. Where's Clint this morning??

Happy Friday everyone.

I had a pretty good night last night. Come to find out we were having our Thanksgiving dinner at 1am so me and about 1500 of my closest friends went down to Bay 5 and had some really good catered in food. A nice surprise. After that I spent the rest of the night standing under a big lift truck and I think I got poisoned from the diesel exhaust. I had quite a buzz going for a little while.

I agree the blue words ads are annoying. However, a few months ago I happened to roll over one and it was a Bosch mini-commercial where this woman was screaming at her husband really fast about being in the garage all the time and she had to do all this housework. It was funny as hell. I wish I could find that one again. I couldn't find it on the internet, oh maybe Youtube. If you pay money to the site do the ads go away for you?

Jamesbo were the grits home brewed or Awful house?

Time to hit the hay. Gonna be a nice one today, and I hear nice over the weekend.

A good mid morning all. Gonna be mild for at least another week, with temps in the 50's to 60 towards turkey day. I told ya all that my buying a new snowblower would keep it form snowing..so far it's working! Got to change the oil on the DD tomorrow, but I would like to go watch my high school football team in a semi final playoff game, about 40 miles from here, if they win this one it's on to Ford Field on Thanksgiving weekend for the state championship. With but one day off for this weekend, I don't know, I need to get stuff done around the house, so we'll see.

Happy Friday all,

I guess for most of you that means YAY! it's weekend time.

John - I understand about the issue of the pop up ads and ads in general. Also understand the relationship of how ads are used by sponsors to this site. However, they do not control my puter or software I choose to use on it. That said, have you considered installing 'Adblocker'? It's freeware and blocks all ads unless you decide not to. I installed it quite a while ago because of the same frustration you are running into. Adblocker also allows me to access info on this site faster because it doesn't allow the ads to load.

Jamesbo - dey gots arkeeolojests in LA?? Wut wood dey dig up sept water??? Buggers wood prolly drown at werk or get et by gators. And such? Nope never noticed that. You starting a contest to count em?

Mike - you back from AH? Best rest up for all that fun you got planned this weekend.

From John to Allan

A little known fact of Louisiana History...

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year outside of New York City, scientists found traces of copper cable dating back 100 years. They came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, a Los Angeles archaeologist dug to a depth ...of 20 feet somewhere just outside Oceanside. Shortly after, a story in the LA times read: "California archaeologists report a finding of 200 year old copper cable, and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers."

One week later, a newspaper in New Orleans reported the following: "After digging down about 30 feet deep near a bayou in the community of Lafayette, Boudreaux, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found......absolutely nothing, therefore concluded that 300 years ago, Louisiana had already gone wireless."

Just makes a person proud to be from Louisiana!!!

Dan, you mean the sig picture with the animation? I got the sig pic from one of our members years ago (actually I got about 4 of them but I like this one the best) I have to host it on Photobucket and link it to the site or it's not upload-able to the C.O. server.

This is without animation

because???? You want to see if it works as a test, or you don't like the one that's there? I already had the supergirl one in my sig pic for a while.....so I know it works. You can insert any size file you want if it's hosted on another server - all you're doing is providing a link.

Happy Weekend everyone!

Off to the big expanse once known as Hapeville. Well, Hapeville still exists, but in a much smaller form. I don't know if there are many people left who would remember when the airport was but a speck.

Now I like a blonde as much as the next guy, but you can keep Supergirl and I'll take Wonder Woman. I don't care how old she is now, I still wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers.

I was just outside with my dogs. I walked through some sort of brush now I'm covered with all these little seed things. They are little black squares with two stickers that attach themselves to everything.

Speaking of being outside, my stupid neighbor has a Golden Retriever and leaves him outside all the time. He's been outside all evening barking. Never stops. I can't really hear him in the house, but outside it gets quite trying. Now this guy has been a thorn in my side for years, I think a great way to get back at him would be to call Animal Control. Ah, maybe I'll wait until it's really cold out and then call. The cops around here don't take lightly to people not taking excellent care of their pets. Maybe he'll end up in jail for a few days. I feel bad for the dog. He sounds so unhappy.

Gonna be chilly tonight. Low 40s which means low 30s, really. And if I'm outside there's the wind. But who cares because it's Friday!

Hope everyone is out whoopin' it up.

Good evening everyone. Well, things around here are starting to get better as far as gas supplies and power. Gas is a little more than you're dealing with in Ohio Sandy. Regular here is anywhere from $3.95 to 4.19/gallon and premuim is in the mid 4's. Ouch. The latest out of LIPA is that they were also unprepared to deal with 14,000 additional workers and deployed them ineffectively....

While things have improved for the majority of us, obviously, the people who lost their homes or homes that were badly damaged are still suffering.

Hope everyone had a great week.

Mornin' everybody.

Long night at work. Got half my work done, only to find out the person previously working on this didn't bother to tell anyone some of the parts weren't available, so at the end of the night I had to take apart everything that I had done. And of course stayed till the end. Hopefully I won't sleep too long today since it's gonna be nice.

Jamesbo the main reason I'd call Animal Control is to be a *****. This guy has cost me literally thousands of dollars due to him calling code enforcement at least twice a week over the past few years. There used to be a guy that would come out and write me up for anything. A tire laying over there. Scrap metal laying over there. He'd say you have an unregistered car and you're in violation. I'd fix whatever he was worried about then he'd come back and write me up again. In court I'd say, this is what he told me to do and the bastard would lie on the stand and say I never said that. Until one day he got fired because somehow someone discovered that he wasn't quite on the up and up. The woman that would come over after that would say, hm looks good to me and after a couple times of that the idiot next door quit calling.

Of course if I had to go to court all they'd have to do is ask, why is his dog any different than the 500 other dogs that bark all night in your neighborhood? And I'd get the deer in the headlights look and that would be that.

What the heck did you get me all fired up about that jerk for anyway? If he were on fire and I had a glass of water, I'd drink the water.

-breath- Darrell glad things are getting a little better for you. Gas is up 8 cents over night here and I'm suspecting it's because of the oil rig fire in the Gulf. Right now regular is 3.23.

Okay! Gonna get a little sleep then do some yardwork. I brought the truck home from work for the weekend so I can get some things hauled around. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

I know how you feel , or at least a friend of mine does . This neighbor of his all of a sudden got jealous or something and started making my friends life a living hell ! This friend of mine to which happens to know just about everything ( VERY intelligent ) steered this whole situation so it would totally backfire on this guy . Now this " JERK " neighbor of his is in hot water all the time , and the cops are on my friends side . It's all about patients , waiting till the right moment , and documenting / filming everything .... ya see my friend was a state champ wrestler , and his arms and legs are like tree stumps ! He even went as far as getting under this " JERK " neighbors skin to a point that the neighbor struck him .... my friend did not retaliate agaisnt him , just documented it and took pictures that landed this guy in deeper hot water . I myself have no patients , and I'm nothing like my friend when it comes to these things . I would of already have beat this guy into a coma right on the spot , and went to jail !

Evening All!

It was sunny and around 56 degrees here today. I got some much needed house cleaning done. Went and picked up Lin and we went to Jean's and got her, and then went to the cemetery. Mom's birthday was this past Thursday, so I had to take the beautiful fall arrangement up and put on her grave. I made it the first year she died. It's still pretty.

Then we had to go into Newton Falls to the DQ and have hot dogs with sauce and milkshakes, lol. Today was the DQ's last day for the season, so no more until next spring.

We got back home around 7:30ish and I packed up Nicoles sheets and towels and her throw rugs. I bought some plastic containers at Wal Mart last night for them. Slowly but surely we are making progress!

Tomorrow I plan on bonding with Teepo most of the day. I want to take her for a nice long drive and enjoy her some, and then get her cleaned up and put away. It's supposed to be another nice day tomorrow. We'll probably take some more of Nicoles stuff to the shop too.

It's sad about the Hostess company and all the people who will be without jobs. I used to eat a lot of Twinkies back in my younger days. And the cherry pies, lol. I still occasionally like a chocolate cup cake. My favorite, if I want junk food, are the powdered donuts. Those I will miss. The Hostess ones are the best.

Well I suppose I should get off of here and take my tired self to bed. Lots to do tomorrow. I'm glad its a short work week next week. Have a good evening all. And such....

Good morning everyone.

Just got back from the weekly Sunday Awful house and Walmart event. Not a Twinkie or HoHo to be had. I did get the last loaf of Wonder Bread.

Pretty day out. Sunny and springlike. Got some yardwork to do for my neighbor and also put the cover back on his pontoon. Since I have the truck home I'll try to move some stuff around again.

Good to hear from you OrthoK. I want to go to Perth some time. I've heard it's quite nice.

Sandy your DQ sounds like one I grew up with. There was this walk up DQ on the corner of Main Street and Lincoln Hwy in Matteson that for some reason closed oh, some time in the 80s. Not long after that someone bought the place and it opened as Dairy Plus. I and everyone I knew went to Dairy Plus for years. They too would close in the fall and always open April 1. I can remember plenty of April 1's there was snow on the ground but we went anyway. Late 80/early 90s the state widened Lincoln Hwy(US 30) and paved right over Dairy Plus. There was a picture in the newspaper of the building after they tore it down, just a pile of bricks. I went and got one. Still have it.

Well better get to it. Have a great day everyone and you know what's this week!

I wont even touch them places anymore . We have a place called " Sammy's Taste Of Chicago " which have real good dogs , and a " Philly Steak " that is the best you ever had ! It's all home cooking , so I can't even think of going to DQ , or Cousins anymore .

There are a lot of restaurants around here that would put DQ to shame , but for fast food they are better then eating at Mc Crapolds , Windy's , or Buger Fling .

Mom & Pop burger joints are still the best around here. There are a couple of small chains Dicks Drive in and Burger Master. They are OK but the best around here is called the ranch drive in. Been in business in the same location for around 60 years. The fresh made french fries are the best around

Evening All!

Another beautiful day today. Sun and in the mid 50's. I got a lot of boxes lugged out to the garage and put away upstairs. We took Nicoles chest of drawers and some boxes and containers over to the shop and got them in storage.

Teepo and I took us a nice long cruise this afternoon. Lovely day to be cruisin. I filled her up with gas and dumped in the Stabil and parked her out in the back garage. I still have to clean her good. I just dusted her off before we went driving.

It is nice to have a driveway out there, lol. Now when the weather is good, I can take her out anytime!

I got all the flowers in the breezeway watered, and put some flower pots and such out in the shed. Carried the two pumpkins that something chomped, out to the brush pile and dumped them. I moved my swing to the other side of the deck up against the house to protect it some from the snow. The friggin squirrels knocked down my biggest bird feeder, that I just filled yesterday, and broke it. I was not happy.

The Dairy Queen in Newton Falls is an original old Dairy Queen. You walk up to the window and order. They don't sell burgers or fries or anything like that. Just hot dogs. Their chili sauce is good. We went there when we were kids, and it hasn't changed much since.

Well I guess it's time to get off here and get my stuff ready to take to work. I'm glad it's gonna be a short week. Have a good night, all!

Mornin all,

One of my best buddies is in the DQ business. Their family used to own 12-13 stores here on the front range, But I think they are down to 4-5 now. They never owned any Brazers, just the Ice cream, hot dog stores.

orthoK, I been friended by a lovely lass from Perth. Shes originally from Kalgoorlie. I, like Mike would like to visit sometime. Oz fascinates me.

Sorry, I haven't been on, been real busy. A friend From Chicago was here with one of her associates, for a therapy instruction class over the weekend. Then yesterday went and attended my first race in over a year. I can hardly move today. Wow, I'm outa shape. Then the missus and I fell an almost dead silver maple in the back yard. the past couple of years have been hard on the trees around here. I personally believe that we should remove the willow next to it, but she is determined to save it.

Well, heres to a short week. have a great day all.

Happy Monday of a short work week everyone.

Overcast and cool this morning but like Jamesbo says should warm up nicely.

Clint our neighbors had Weeping Willow trees and they always seemed to drop their branches in our yard. They soak up an enormous amount of water so they are good in low lying yards. One neighbor eventually had theirs taken down and the other neighbor moved, and my Mom shamed the new people into taking theirs down. After that when it rained their yard was always swampy. But our yard was easier to clean up. What a mess they are.

I don't go to Awful house for the food. Up home if a restaurant wasn't a chain it was most likely owned by greeks. Boy do I miss that. There's a couple greek places around me that I go to once in a while, but they don't seem to be the same. Dairy Queen has awesome cheeseburgers but I don't go there either. I don't like the guy that owns it. Hm. Looks like Jamesbo was right.

Plenty to do today. Gonna try to take some scrap to the recycler. Gonna try to move some cars around. Gonna mow. Need to paint. Car maintenance. Hm it's the same thing every day some day I'll get something done.

Have a good one everyone.

Morning All!

Copy/paste. Gorgeous sunny day here, temps in the low 30's right now.

Not much going on in here today. Only 2 phone calls this morning so far. Clay is back and talking up a storm, so it's noisier, lol. I sold him a $25 Petsmart gift card that I had bought for Nicole back in September. I was gonna give it to her for Christmas, but she can't use it now. Clay has a dog, so he bought it off of me, which was nice.

I turned in my receipt for our turkey, so the company will reimburse me. Jean, Linda and Jr. will be joining us for Thanksgiving dinner. I want to go to Wal Mart and Target that evening and do some shopping!

It was nice parking Tincanio in the garage last night! I didn't have to scrape this morning.

Clint..... hope ya feel better! It sucks getting old - too many aches and pains, lol.

Well have a great day all!!

Good morning all

Damn I wish that cow would leave the flat rock alone. Looked on the weather map and Washington state looks like the only place in the US expected to have rain throughout the holiday. My aren't we lucky. Flooding is expected on some of our rivers. Nothing to serious though.

Never heard of at DQ only serving hotdogs. All of the DQ's around here are ice cream and hamburger joints.

Have a happy short week all

Ug. I ran a couple errands and stopped into the Awful house for an impromptu Texas Bacon sandwich and it starts raining. So no mowing for me today.

Sandy Clint is not old! And the reason I know this is because he is younger than me. And I'm not old! Though I feel old sometimes. Like when I refer to something that happened in the 80s and it seems like yesterday to me, and the person I'm talking to has no idea what I'm talking about. I work with a guy that was born in 1989. I have clothes older than that. No, definitely not old.

Jamesbo I've been to the Varsity before, but I need to go and have one of those fruit pies. I'm not a big fan of peach(gasp!) but the way they make them looks cool. I like the sign in the one room that says, if you don't like what's on TV go to a different room.

Okay gotta go do something.

Gotta agree with you there, that's what I like about small town car shows, there's always a mom & pop restaurant with good food...and burgers!

Mike..... I didn't mean 'old' old. Like Jamesbo old, lol! (Love ya Jamesbo!) I just meant that the things we used to do never bothered us, now they do. It's harder to keep in shape as we advance in years, lol. I know what you're saying... it's hard to believe that 1980 was 32 years ago! It sure doesn't seem that long ago....

Oh good Lord since you put it that way, let me get my walker! Just kidding! Where does the time go?

It cracks me up when the music I still listen to is considered "oldies." I see nothing wrong with a car having a cassette deck, in fact most of my recorded music is on cassette. I remember the waterbed craze(I was part of it, still have mine wouldn't be without it).

Ah just got back from running some errands. It looked like it was going to clear up a little, but now the sun has disappeared again and it won't be too long before it's dark. Yick.
