Well I've spent most of the morning calling shelters. Most of them I just get a recording saying they are full and unable to help. One place said they may have a kennel available tomorrow afternoon, she will call me tomorrow. So I'm hoping. God, I'm in tears myself talking to these people, and he isn't even my dog.

He is such a nice good dog! He is husky mixed with something. I don't know what. He has the curly husky tail and a beautiful face. He's fixed, housebroken, doesn't bark, crate trained, he sits and shakes hands.....

Friday afternoon all!

Well, at least we got some good news in de hood today. The graders came and plowed the street. Bad news for some peeps who didn't move their cars in time - the City put the no parking on bus route ban into effect this morning at 0700. And it's still snowing.

Jamesbo - y'all buy de super model wut she wants and den y'all diskapears fur abit. Dont say nothin. just diskapear. Much more easy to ax furgivnis den permission if ya git ma drift.

Clint - You are quite the dreamer. Both times. Graeme actually stayed to work on his CAD project. No girls in his life right now. I got to his college about 6:25pm. First thing he asks is if we can swing by a computer repair store. Apparently he was loading his back pack on a chair and it fell over. His ASUS G74 wouldn't start after that. No point in getting mad - what's done is done. His backpack is specially designed for that specific laptop because it's so huge (17.3). It's actually bigger than any of the others (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Sony or Samsung). Good thing is the laptop pouch is ultra padded and snug too. We dropped by Memory Express and had them check it out. It hard booted 2x fine, then soft booted 2x just fine. Relief? Yup - it's an 1800.00 laptop.

Dan - I'm glad to hear about those no kill shelters.

Mike - You get that checked out with the gas. I DON"T want to find out some stupid pilot light or something didn't work and you got gassed. I'm not making light of this - seriously - get it checked. That sounds scary. If you're asleep when it happens you might not wake up.

Pat - I likes the way you think. Some Glayva sounds like a good start. Een If you've never staysted dis sfuff yewl luvvit. evin beddr n skoch.

Bryan - yeah, ice fishing can be fun IF you can keep the fish. Most of the lakes up here are catch and release; with no barb hooks. Kind of takes the fun out of it not keeping any. May as well just go set up the ice tent, drill some holes and sit inside drinking Glayva or something. Amazing how warm it can get in an ice fishing tent.

Happy Friday everyone!

I have this feeling that my happy Friday will be short lived. I know I got the shtty lead tonight, so I will be there until the end. You know what, I don't care because it's Friday!

Sandy with a face like that someone will take that boy home. Don't give up on him! Life lesson for all of us.

Allan I think the gas will be a non-issue. The furnace has been functioning properly all day, and the gas smell is gone. I'm going to have my neighbor the heating and air guy come over this weekend and we'll go over the unit and clean it out and make sure it's ready for winter. Like you, I don't want to sponsor my own demise. Strange that the dogs didn't say anything when I got home.

I'm guessing Jamesbo is in his mountain retreat lair by now. If super model was expecting the same crowd as usual, Red probably drove.

Gotta get to it! Need to stop at the gas station on the way. The Fiat is right at 9800 miles. I can almost smell that oil change.

Good night everyone and have a great weekend.

Hi all. Hope everyone had a great day. It warmed up here pretty quickly today and made it up to 56 degrees. The kids and I (6 & 8 yrs old) had a snowball fight after school today. Kinda strange when its that warm but fun anyway. Going to be 60 tomorrow so all the snow will be gone. I am glad it will be that warm, hopefully that will help out all the people who still don't have power.

Gas rationing started today and the lines did not look that bad as they have been. But, at least 75% of the stations I passed today still don't have gas. Tomorrow's my day to get gas so wish me luck.

Sandy - sorry to hear about your situation. He looks like a beautful dog, hopefully you're able to find a nice home for him.

Happy Saturday everyone.

I didn't get much done last night but I ran myself ragged. Everything I worked on had some issue and I had to run here and there to get parts or maintenance manual references. It didn't help that we were not working in our usual place, and were far away from everything.

Beautiful day today. Still under 60 but the sun is out and it promises to be a nice weekend. I'm going to try to stay up this morning so a pretty day will help.

Enjoy the mountains Jamesbo.

Good luck in the gas line Darrell.

Wow , catch and release ? I know we have some lakes here that are over fished and you can't keep anything , but I never thought I would hear that in Canada . Where I go Walleye fishing in the spring there is a slot limit .... You can keep 5 fish between 15 & 20 inches , or 4 fish between 15 & 20 , and 1 over 28 inches . The slot limit doesn't even matter , because you catch so many Walleyes it's not even funny . I have had times where I caught like 40 or more in a full day ( mostly small ones though ) , and the biggest one I caught up there was almost 28 inches . I'll scan the pic , and put it on here .

Afternoon Olds fans!
Beautiful looking day out there! Secret is to look from the inside but don't go out there. Sun is shining, sky is blue temp is -20 with wind chill. (that's about -4 F)

Going to be a quiet day. The Mrs. has to work today so I need to take the block heater cord out of storage on her car. I also installed an in car warmer so it will be toasty in there when she comes out to start it. No, I don't believe in remote starters.

Mike - Sounds like a night from hell. Hope your day goes well. 60 and warmer??? You rotter!

Jamesbo - how's the hideout workin?

Pat - there's another 56 for sale up in your neck of the woods - Moses lake? Sounds like it's calling your name. http://moseslake.craigslist.org/cto/3370755531.html

Darrell - good luck at the gas line; hope that situation clears up sooner than later. Is the rationing due to stations still not having electricity or just plain out of gas?

Sandy - ARF!! Arf arf arf! (translates: You know you wannnnt me) Very nice looking puppy. Dogs like that won't have any trouble finding a new home. I know how heartbreaking it is to have to give it away. Went through that with Teala.

Bryan - yeah, we have some strange things with the fisheries. BTW it's not ALL of Canada that's affected by this, but I don't feel like driving 8 hours one way to get to a fishing hole. Just a lot of the close by lakes I like seem to be rigidly enforced. Seems like they've been prone to overfishing and this is part of the recovery program. I remember the days of catching 40 lunkers in a day too. Had to horse em in close enough to net. Many were in the 20-26" range. They were also damn fine eating.

John - this is for you. Remember you steered me to Big Sky Covers? I'm really happy with the cover. Just put it on the car about half hour ago. Fits really well and (duh) is labled which end it 'front'. Thanks for the tip on them. I also recommend them highly. This one is the Dustop model for 442 and has a 4 year warranty. It has elasticized front and rear so it fits snugly around the lower part of the car. Doesn't leave much of anything exposed at all.

Anyone who's interested, Big Sky Covers and talk to Gregg. http://www.bigskycarcovers.com/our-p...om-car-covers/

Evening. All!

It was a beautiful day today after some rain last night and early this morning. Temps were around 65.

I went to Nicoles around 9:30 this morning. I am beat. We got most of the stuff packed up. Of course when Larry got there 2ish he said he thought we'd have more done. We thought we did good....

Giving all Charlie's clothes, shoes and stuff to Goodwill tomorrow. Got all that bagged up. We moved all his tools, toolboxes compressor, etc.. over to the shop. Unloaded Nicoles dishes, towels etc... and some of the furniture over there too. Brought the 47" flat screen Tv home. Brought all her food and such here too. Its a mess around here right now. We put her dressers and bed out in the back garage for the night. Shes sleeping in the spare room tonight. She is just drained.

I got a call from a shelter today and we will take Emmett over there tomorrow. We both cried. He stayed in his crate all day while we were packing. Larry even petted him a couple times when he came over with the trailer. Nicole let Emmett outside and was hoping Larry would pick up on how well he listened and how he never barked and such. It didn't work. All Larry had to say was he's sorry. I think she'll try to guilt him one more time in the morning before we leave. Maybe it will work. I feel so bad for her. Nothing I can do though.

I was hoping to get Teepo tucked in the garage tomorrow while its nice, but I don't think its gonna happen. I didn't get home tonight until after 6. We have to move stuff around in the house to get her furniture set back up and such. Boxes are everywhere, and I have all Teepos awards in her old room. Gotta move all that.

Well you all have a good evening.

So I didn't make staying up all day. I barely made it out of the shower. I laid down on my bed and was asleep until 4. Mad me mad. But what could I do? I could have fought to stay awake and then put my safety at risk trying to do stuff all day. Or fallen asleep in my scattered and covered.

So tomorrow is looking rather nice. I'll for sure do some stuff outside. Gonna have my neighbor have a look at my furnace as well.

Allan the cover looks nice. Is it tapered some how to make the front the front? It looks as snug as a bug in a rug.

Well I think I'll go back to bed. I've been up a whopping 6 hours. I hate being tired like this. Too many years on midnight shift. Have a good night everyone and a good weekend, what's left of it.

Yes, it's custom fit for a fastback 442. The lower ends on the front and rear have elasticized 'stuff' sewn to it so the cover fits snug. And you're right - she's downright smilin happy under there!

Allan,

Yes, I was able to get gas today, thanks. The lines are finally starting to get smaller. The problem is mostly a lack of gas. Probably about 30-40% of the stations have gas to distribute around here.

There are 5 terminals around here for the tankers to fill up at and 2 are still closed. The ones that are closed are around NYC about 50 miles away from here. So the tankers are coming out here and bringing the gas back to the city so there is less for us.

Hey, folks. Gee.... Yota AND Emmet now... what a beautuful pup, Sandy. I sure hope he finds a great new home. We have a couple leads on placing Yota, but nothing concrete yet. We need to head for the hills for Thanksgiving with the other 3 parasites, so we're hoping she has a new home by then.

Allan, beautiful cover! So happy that worked out for you. I've bought all my covers from them. I still have the one for my F-150 I bought in 2000. I haven't used it much since Katrina, but I break it out now and then when I need to store it outside for any length of time.

Skyfall is great... if anybody was waiting to hear whether you should go see it, definitely GO .

Jacmel was also fab last nite.... I had veal (somewhat ashamed to say) on bed of hand-made pasta, and better half had scallops, and we split oyster and crab-cake appetizers, then split a "chocolate mousse bomb" for dessert!

I was content as a Carnation cow.

Y'all have a great resto' (long) weekend.... we're off Monday for Vet's Day tomorrow.

Hey everyone.

Got to Awful house early today and it was jam packed. Lots of loud people. After that drove way the heck out to Monroe then stopped at Food Depot on the way back. Most times I resent Walmart but they beat the pants off Food Depot.

So going to Monroe. Years ago, like in 98, I knew of this vacant house that had a Rallye 350 in the back yard that had been sitting for years. I might have told this story already. A tree had fallen on it and smashed the back of the roof, the window, and the fin. I found out who owned the house and badgered her a bunch of times until I just coudn't get anywhere with her and gave up. I was talking about it with this guy at work, the guy that had told me about it years ago, and I said I was going to go out again and see if the car was still there. Well it wasn't, which I didn't expect it would be, but oddly enough there was a Mitsubishi Diamonte sitting right about where the Rallye had been, and looked about in the same shape. Well, it was a nice ride anyway, and now I know I don't have to think about it anymore.

Nice day here, a little overcast but warmish. Like 60 warmish. The dogs are flaked out on the couches like they've been working hard or something.

Jamesbo have a good time in the city. Hope Sandy and Nicole can shame Larry into keeping the dog at the eleventh hour.

A Day to Remember

Today I solemnly watched the wreath laying ceremony at our nation's capital. It was a very moving tribute to all the past veterans who fought for our freedoms. It also celebrated the lives of those still around and touched on the concept of passing the torch to a new generation. I will always remember.

Jamesbo - I'se here! I tink uddrs are at speshul serimonies today or takin time out to remember. Enjoy yer visit wit yer buds.

Mike - Sad to hear about the rallye. Yeah, I dislike being around loud people too. Hope you got enough grub at Walmart to make the pups happy. I wish I was there to enjoy the 'warmish' weather.

Darrell - hope things start to look up sooner than later. Sounds to me like the gas companies are robbing Peter to pay Paul. That must be a sight to see tankers bypassing your stations. They're lucky there's not a lynch mob blocking the road.

John - you're making me hungry with all that nice food. Personally? I love veal as much as the next dish so don't be embarrassed about that. So comfy as a carnation cow huh?? Got milk?

Lest we forget.

Thank you to all those who serve, or have served their country, for their sacrifices.

Allan, I watched the ceremony as well.

Good Evening Everyone.

Tomorrow is looking like a nice day, with a forecast high of 60. I may just take the Cutlass for one last ride if it really is that warm.

John, I hear they brought back Q in the new Bond movie, but that it is no longer John Cleese. Oh well.

The lines were shorter today for gas. Still far from normal though since most stations still don't have it. There is also a wide disparity on prices. I passed one station today that had gas for $4.59/gal and another 1/2 mile away that had it for $3.71/gal. WTH???

Most of the anger around here is aimed at LIPA (long island power authority) for their slow response to the homeowners need for electricity. The out of state crews are getting a lot of positive press here for how hard they are working and how good they are. You know it's bad when out of state people seem to have a better handle on how to fix things around here compared to our local ones.

Happy Monday Morning all.

Sandy, my heart breaks for you and Nicole. He sure looks sweet. I wish I could give him to my dad, but he's just too big. Dad wants a badger hound. I think thats all he's ever had.

Jeff, You get buried? A buddy in Farmington got about 14" total. How much dud you get out of that? We got less than an inch, but the temps sure dropped.

The Mrs. cleaned house yesterday and put the kitchen trash on the front stoop. So all I can say is I hope you stoopid foxes choke on dem chicken bones. On the positive side, its cold enough the trash doesn't smell.

Allan, I bought a nice cover from OPGI. Fits real nice and covers completely. I'm not sure who manufactured it. Its and inside cover (Not water proof). Te only thing I don't like about it, is I can't see the car when I go out to the garage.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Happy Monday everyone.

It sure is foggy out. Almost 60 already. Not sure what the weather has in store.

So today is bid day at my work. Once a year we have to bid for our schedules. Usually we do it on the computer but this year it's completely screwed up so we are bidding manually. The GM of the department is calling everyone in descending order of seniority. We've already filled out bid sheets so he's just confirming. I don't trust this man to be smart enough to get things right, so I'm going in this afternoon to talk to him at my allotted bid time(3:15) and to ask a couple questions.

Think after bidding I'll go to the junkyard. It's right there so I might as well. I haven't been there in about a month and I can see when I go past on the expressway that there's a few new rows. Wonder what's there that I can't live without.

Hope everyone has a great start to your week.

Morning All!

Well it's a dark cloudy morning here now. It was pretty early morning. Temps were at 60 when I got up, slowly falling already as that cold front is coming towards us. Supposed to be in the 20's tonight, rain starting later, rain/snow tomorrow.....

The move is complete. Nicole and I went to her place early yesterday morning. Made 2 trips to Goodwill with Charlie's clothes, shoes, coats, stuff. Had Tincanio loaded. I felt bad just giving away all his crap, but that's what he said to do before he left. He told both of us to "sell or give away" whatever. She kept just a few shirts and jeans for him. I suppose if he really wanted the stuff, he would have made arrangements with his brother in Michigan to come get it or something. Not my problem..... I did keep important things like divorce, child support papers and such.

Nicole took a bunch of his games and things to Game Stop and got cash for them.

Their neighbor across the street said to bring Charlie's car over to their house and park it, but the thing has a dead battery. It didn't even click. Nothing. It's a 'Talon' I don't even know who makes that? So when Nicole and I went to the landlord's house to tell him she is out, I told him about the car. I said that Charlie would probably move it when he comes back on leave around Christmas. I have the keys. I never did see the car title anywhere... I asked the guy about the utilities - he said the electric and water goes back in his name. He said he'd take care of calling for that. I took the Time Warner cable box, cause I think you have to turn it in, so I'm gonna call them today and see what has to be done. I'm gonna pretend to be Nicole. I don't know if they'll let me tell them to shut it off or if they will keep billing Charlie. Can't say I really care.....

We took Emmett over to One of a kind Pet Rescue in Akron. God did I cry!!! I cried worse than Nicole. I think I just felt so bad for her, ya know? They loved him over there. We just couldn't get Larry to cave in. This morning when I opened the back door of Tincanio to put my laptop and stuff in, there's all the Emmett hair on my seats, lol. Made me sad. So I have to get that vacuumed out when the weather gets better later in the week.

I saw all sorts of classic cars out yesterday - wish I could have been among them!!!

I don't know if we'll get any of her stuff moved in the house tonight or not. Depends on how hard it's raining and how wet the yard gets. Larry got heavy plastic to lay down over the carpet in the hallway so we can roll the dolly over it.

It would have been nice to have the day off today - I could be doing sooooo much. It's quiet and boring in here.

Well better do something, so I'll talk to ya later!! Have a great Monday.

Ya . burried is a nice word..
I normally love the snow and want it to hang around but I need this gone by friday night as saturday I am planning on finishing taking down a tree and I don't want to do it in the snow..

now doing brakes for a friend in the garage during the storm is a different story.. oh wait. I did that over the weekend. Front and rear brakes on their car.

who is up to helping me finish dropping a tree and loading the wood onto a Trailer on Saturday Morning..

Hey all, beautiful here today. Already 68 at noon so now I can rake leaves after all the snow melted from last week.

Sandy - sorry to hear about the dog situation, hope it all works out for the best.

Jamesbro - hope you got your 18 holes in. I wouldn't mind doing that too but the little ones are home from school. Someone has to entertain them.

Everyone enjoy the week.

One day I'm going to wake up in paradise. Guess it's just not today.

Jamesbo - 68 and golfing still huh? Shoot a couple of snowmen to make me feel better...

Darrell - sounds like the gas companies are playing 'screw you' down there. We get that all the time up here. Never liked it, and will never get used to it. Sorry to hear the local power company is being so retarded about getting everyone up and running. That seems to happen with oligopolies.

crzyjeff - Drop the tree and chop it up. Never know when you'll need alternative heating.

Mike - hope you get the bid you want. The local bus companies up here just started on that electronic bidding process. Still too new to know if it's working well or not. Just checked the local inventory for Pick a Part. Nothing worth going out in the snow for. I check pretty much every week. What are you looking for?

Clint - My cover completely covers the car too, but at least I can see the lines. Kind of like going to the bar and watching some of them wimmen if you know what I mean.

Had to share this with you:
In a recent news broadcast, it was announced that Lorena Bobbitt's sister Louella was arrested for an alleged attempt to perform the same act on her husband as her famous sister had done several years ago .
Sources reveal the sister was not as accurate as Lorena. She allegedly missed the target and stabbed her husband in the upper thigh causing severe muscle and tendon damage . The husband is reported to be in serious, but stable Condition, and Louella has been charged with . . .A Misdawiener!

Well it's been dark and windy all day, and has been raining since 10ish. I only made one lap around the building at lunch time - the wind was whipping my umbrella too much to walk. Temps have fallen to the 40's now.

Darryl.... thanks. I think the shelter will find Emmett a good home. He's the best dog I've ever been around. I'm sure he's missing Nicole and wondering where she is. I'm still sad.... Glad to hear the snow is melting and things are getting somewhat better over that way.

Here's one for you, Jamesbo.... Something has been eating big holes in my pumpkins! I have 2 big pumpkins sitting on the bricks around the lily bed in the front yard, and something has ate big holes in them, and pulled the seeds out everywhere. Watch me get pumpkin vines growing out of my lily bed next year, lol. Raccoon? Possum?? Nothing has ever ate them before, in all these years....

Last Monday I had a tree trimmer "top" the tree.. and I spent last week cleaning out the burnable wood from the branches. I hauled off the branches and stacked the burnable wood. as I don't have a fireplace to burn the wood my brother is coming down saturday to load the stacked wood as well as the wood for the "stump" that is left still standing.. about the height of my house.
I have roughly a "cord" of wood already down and I am guessing about the same left to cut down.

Happy evening everyone.

Adam I want one! Man did that look like fun. No I'm not a redneck. Maybe if I live in Georgia a few more years I can act like one, though.

Didn't make the junkyard today. It started raining just as I was leaving for the airport and it just let up a little while ago. I gave up looking online for parts at this yard because most of the cars are mis-labeled so the website isn't accurate. Besides it's much more fun walking the lot and looking at every car.

Got my bid in for work. I'm Line 14 Late Midnights. Hm that sounds redundant. I'm off July 4, Christmas, and New Years. Not a bad compromise since I have to work 4 days every week instead of three. I'm glad I went in. The way the sheet was printed out most people filled it out wrong and the whole process was in a mess. By being there in person it was easier to get what I wanted, instead of the guy making the calls trying to decipher what it was someone wanted.

Allan's new name is Eagle Eye.

Busy day tomorrow. Of course it will start with Awful house. The Fiat will hit 10000 miles by the time I get there, so I'll go in to the Fiat place for an oil change. Then Walmart on the way home. Then after lunch the junkyard.

Sandy it sounds like Charlie just walked away from his whole life. Get rid of my stuff, take my car, give back my house, it doesn't sound like he wants to come back.

Okay gonna finish watching Holmes on Homes then gonna pop in a movie and have a snack with the dogs. Hope everyone has a great night and enjoyed their Monday off. That's if you got today off.
