Good morning everyone.

Chris all that after she's painted all day. She must really like you.

Took the SRX to the mechanic yesterday after work;. He seems to think it's the battery that keeps the car from being ready to test. I think we have two separate problems here. There's a reason the CEL keeps coming on, and I don't think it's the battery, though that isn't helping any. We'll see what he comes up with. What would be nice is if he got it fixed and took it to the station for me, so it was all ready when I pick it up and I just have to go to the tag office.

Planning on doing some heavy work to the Chevy. My neighbor is going to put floors in it, which will require the body coming off the frame. The MAWs are kicking in. I'll do leaf springs while the two are separated. Might clean up the frame a little and paint it. I should clean and paint the engine bay but I'm not gonna. Trans is already done, engine is good, rear end is good. Don't want to go crazy. Then with the new floor in I'll get new seats and start with the interior. Body and paint are last. I probably need to win the lottery to do all this.

Norm my water heater in my first house had that sort of apparatus on it when I moved in. I was told it was so the power company could turn it off at will to save energy. I was supposed to call and tell them to put it in my name(because I guess changing the whole service wasn't enough) and that it was required, but I never did and no one ever said anything. That was the only thing that had that.

I was a Cub Scout and a Weebelos. My Dad thought it was great that I was a scout but he was never home to do any of the stuff with me. I got my Arrow of Light pin but didn't go to the ceremony. I wish those times meant more to me but at the time it was just something to do. That's how the internet says to spell Weebelos.

Speaking of the Chevy, I've been looking for an oil filter. Apparently it had a canister oil filter originally and someone has put an adapter on it for a spin on. It has a Fram PH5 on it now. I researched that filter and found a number of other filters that cross to it. I'd like to change the oil soon, but I'm not putting a Fram filter back on.

Okay got a few wheels piled up. They'll go quickly. Going out for lunch today. Hope everyone has a good day.

Mike - Dawn was not away painting yesterday for 2 reasons. First, she just needed a break, and second, I was over at my grandsons' home spending time with them. Someone needed to be at our home to let the dogs out at least once during the day.

I sure hope you can get that damn SRX fixed and the inspection passed. I feel for you bud, what a PIA! Sounds like a good plan for the Chevy. It would be great to see you get that Classic road worthy again and get some joy out of driving it. Good luck with that one too!

Mike - Yes, those devices enable Load Shedding - the greater the number of enabled Load Shedding devices contained w/in a select electric region/grid network infrastructure (think power stations/sub-stations) the greater the ability to shed load(s) during peak demand. I'd argue the technicians who install these devices aren't always up-to-date with exact/pertinent knowledge regarding user instructions. There would be no end-user requirement to put the service in any end-user name. Power company doesn't care who owns the house - those units are not tied to a name. They're simple ancillary load shedding devices - power company cares less whose name is on the monthly service bill relative to those devices.

I went through the entire Cub Scout sequence Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light then the BSA sequence Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, and Eagle. Mom was a Den Mother (Leader).

It's often like pulling teeth w/ me. I have to read instructions, re-read them, re-read them again, etc. until I thoroughly understand something. The written form of instructions/diagrams don't help when they're ill-written. I finally finished R&R of these volumetric & thermostatic shower faucet control valves, cartridges & thermostatic trim assembly; and, I'm the guy who did the installations ~10 - 12 yrs ago. Next time, this may require a completely new thermostatic mixing valve assembly - which would mean removing ceramic tiles to gain access to R&R the mixing valve assembly. Hopefully I can squeak out another 10 years. OK - onto next project on the list.

Very commendable Norm, **** ton of work and commitment to become an Eagle Scout. I enjoyed scouting, my Mom was a Den Mother also. Dad was our Webelos leader. After my Arrow of Light ceremony I transitioned into our local Boy Scout Troop. After I entered the Troop, the 1st major event I participated in was a Troop Canoe Trip. Supposed to be 2-days of canoeing, full days on Saturday and Sunday, staying at a mid-point tent camping in a campground Saturday night. It rained hard Saturday night, not so much that it effected the safety of the river, but several campers got wet overnight. Keep in mind this was the middle of the Summer and it was not cold. The Troop took a vote and opted not to continue canoeing on Sunday. I was so pissed, I thought **** these wussies, if they don't have any more gumption than this I don't want any part of it and never went to another meeting. Probably just as well, I was playing sports year round at that point, and needed at least a little time to chase the girls!

Norm - I always had trouble reading/remembering crap only in softcopy. I needed hardcopy that I could highlight, underline, star, etc. Everyone at work would always rib me about how many trees I killed copying what I felt were critical communications, but then they loved me when I was the only one who could find the documentation when the **** hit the fan.

Hopefully the mixing valve assembly is +30-years down the road! 🤞

My Dad was a Den Leader during the time I was a Webelo - both Mom & Dad. As I recall (I might be wrong about this) I think I remember Mom asking (nearly insisting) Dad be some pseudo-official Den Leader during the Webelo sequence - something about Cub Scouts preferred a male role model (Den Leader) for the Webelos? I saw a lot of peculiar behavior when I was a BSA Boy Scout - I mean a lot of wicked ridiculous behavior by Scout Masters & Scouts alike. I thought many of them were whacked out of their heads. I engaged as little as possible w/ all of them while I waded through the B.S.

Norm - I remember the same thing as you about them wanting a male for Webelos Leader. I wasn't in the Boy Scout Troop long enough to really see or formulate any opinion on any weird crap going on. All I could think was that Boy Scout's should have stronger constitutions than to quit an event because of a little water???

When I taught college, students might come visit asking for assistance in improving their grades. At the college level you don't simply provide students w/ extra credit which they hope will enhance their grade. So, I'd routinely inquire of their studying habits. I found this to be true. Many students don't know what studying is about & they don't actually study. They believe studying is a continual re-reading of what they already know. They fail to "study" what they don't know. So, they equate X number of hours reading & going over what they already know with studying. They get it when I'd tell them you study what you don't know, not what you do know. Most figured it out - some not so much because they then realized studying sounds like that evil four letter word - WORK.

Hi guys,

Not as warm today, I think it made it to 90°. It was very humid and very foggy this morning which delayed Dawn's departure to go paint by about an hour, she left around 0800.

I didn't do much until around 12:30 when I started my lifting workout and finished about 2pm. Thought about going out to mow in the heat of the day, went out into what felt like a sauna, and decided better of it and decided I'd wait until the morning as soon as the dew's off. No pot roast tonight, so I ran out and got some Taco Bell, which I like, but it sometimes doesn't like me. Guess we'll see, so far so good!

Hope everyone has had a great day and has a relaxing evening!

Wow, did your response bring back a blast from the past! I taught intro level Geology courses as a Grad Asst at Bowling Green State Univ. in Ohio in the Fall of '81 - Spring '83. I had a canned speech at the start of of every class that included the offer of help to anyone that needed it. I only had one person that ever took me up on my offer of help. In my 1st Semester, I had a Freshman female volleyball player in class, about 6-ft tall, and hotter than all get out, that came to me for help because she was struggling at <2.0 out of 4.0 scale, and she needed at least a 2.5 to maintain her scholarship. I tutored her the rest of the Semester and she passed with a solid 3.0. About half the way thru the Spring Semester they had a banquet for Student Athletes where they were to identify and invite the faculty member who had been the most inspirational influence in their academic journey to date. She chose me, and I was the only Grad Asst. there. Man was our Geology Dept. Chair proud and impressed! I believe it was a big factor in me being chosen to be the Geology Grad Asst. Coordinator my 2nd year there.

Nope. After the faculty event she actually asked me out and we dated for a couple of months, including a dinner at her parents home in Toledo. It wasn't long after that dinner I think we both realized we weren't right together as a couple, but we remained friends. Secretly my suspicion was that she was struggling with her sexuality and playing on both sides of the fence? I never confirmed that though.

Yuk, Yuk!! Too funny... Been perfect weather, finally getting mowers ready and listed on Face Crack- they go fast, Sold 3 in a couple days. They are gone thru and obviously bad parts replaced, but sold as is, and less than 1/4 price of new. A 42" TSC mower is $2100. I been selling mine for $425. Yesterday after crawling around on dirty cement floor in shop, put on trunks and took a bath in lake- I love that!! Simple pleasures, Buddy likes it too, He is getting to be quite the fisherdog- no success in getting one yet. Those small fish come up and nip me in the back- quite startling!!

One lesson of life is beautiful, athletic women can often be quite dumb, or mean, or (worse) both.

I remember studying for engineering tests, knowing the formulae, knowing my equation sheet, knowing the homework, and then failing the test anyway. My undergrad believed in exclusivity via making people flunk any way they could, usually by overloading the tests with too much work for the time, or introducing concepts not yet taught. This was different than my grad school, who simply set the bar in the sky and said we're here to help every inch of the way, but it's a long road.

As a younger man, I had a dream of finding redheaded twin sisters for a modern day multiple wife thing; I then realized I was not nearly enough man for that.

Elected not to fight the heat/humidity (again) today; albeit, no golf. Plenty of indoor activities to occupy my day. I went out w/ a fun (Burning Bush) redhead for some time during college. 😉🤣

Greg - Sounds like a nice little hobby/business you got going there! Reminds me of Dawn's furniture work. Pick up stuff for next to nothing, a few cheap supplies/parts, some elbow grease, and turn a nice little profit. One of the best things is you're doing it at your leisure. Nicely done! 👍

John - I think you're right, they often can. Not exactly sure why, but maybe they just get by because people give them a pass because of their looks?

This gal I tutored really wasn't like that. As a Freshman, she was just overwhelmed at first getting used to an academic environment where she actually had to "Really Study" to get decent grades, and that she was no longer "The Star" on the volleyball court. I could empathize with her situation as I went thru the same struggle when I was a Freshman.

Yes. I really think that the definition of a "crazy" woman is simply someone with mental illness that would normally be ignored and sidelined by everyone, but is in demand and tolerated and succeeds in life because of her looks. One gripe you hear on women's groups is "men act personally offended that an unattractive woman is in their presence." I don't think that is quite right; I think a lot of guys give attractive but bad-at-the-subject-at-hand women a pass because they are all trying to get in her pants, and a woman who is not competent or attractive does not get that pass. I have a hard time dealing with attractive women who expect me to put up with the same trampling they give their husbands; I'm not banging you, honey, I don't have to put up with your ****.

On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoy working with pleasant, competent women who may or may not be beautiful.

I sympathize with the bigger pond feeling of university. I was fairly smart in my high schools, but I was dumb in a top 20 engineering school. I did survive, but it was rough.

Delta Airlines (DAL) is having one banner of a day. They had a significant beat for the quarter & they're up over 12% today approaching over x3 times (26,792,371) their normal trade volume (10,228,728) & trading isn't even 1/2 over for the day.

Hey guys - The dew was pretty much off in the sunlit areas of the yard by 9am and I headed out to mow. I just got done, about a half hour less than usual. I kinda paid a price for it. I was mowing on the side of the house in the shade where the grass was still a little wet, was going downhill too fast when my foot slipped, and when I went down I twisted an ankle pretty good. Had to stop for about 10-minutes till it stopped throbbing and then was able to keep going when I saw I was going to be able to put weight on it. Putting ice on it right now, I don't think it's going to be too bad.

Supposed to meet my daughter, Gabe, and Keegan at the Water Park up the street at 1pm and hobble around for awhile, LoL. The boy's are gonna want me to climb up and go down the big water slides with them so I'd better take about 10 ibuprofen before I go. Norm, I wish I had an Oxy!

Talk at ya'll later. Hope you're having a great day! 😃

Chris - Twice I've torn my ankle resulting in excruciating pain - both in college. Once taking figure skating lessons practicing a basic Lutz jump maneuver the other during a basketball pick-up game. Both times I came down entire ankle rolled over - I couldn't even walk. Both times crutches ~4 weeks. Nothing broke. I ripped every muscle & tendon holding the ankle together. Yeah, I've learned through the years to squander & hoard as many Oxy as possible. Hope you recover fast - those can be painful.

Yay good for us. The name of the company is actually three words.

Hi everyone.

Been a steady day here, just reaching 40 but have been busy all day. My robot guy was new on Tuesday but has picked it up pretty well, and my wall guy is new-ish but he's okay. I've only reached the end of the internet a couple times today.

Chris hope the ankle heals up quick. You can't toe the line in that condition, bless your sole. It's hard to keep a foot hold when you arch sideways.

I just walked past the roll up door and saw that it had been raining. I had planned to run the chipper/shredder at Mom's for a little while but I guess I won't be doing that. I'll have to find something inside to do.

The last girl I had a relationship with dropped me like a hot potato. She worked for herself as a contractor (IT type) for a couple of big law firms in downtown New York. But I think that made her think she was a partner. I dated her in high school and caught up with her years later. We had talked about getting serious and family and all that, but she decided that in her high capacity she couldn't have a blue collar husband. Hm. We came from the same place! Her dad was steel mill worker turned Methodist minister! Part of the problem was her 11 year old son didn't like me. She was not yet divorced from the husband, merely separated. He had cheated on her and she left him. The son said that since they weren't divorced she was doing the same thing. Smart kid.

Okay less than an hour. Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Ventured outdoors for both the exercise & weed trimming/edging. Would be lovely to get some rain in the next 24 - 48 hrs. Marginal 50% chance we might squeak out a downpour from the numerous stray storms working their way Eastward. Hot & humid out here.

Norm - I've torn mine (both) a couple times in the past, I've read that when you've torn them previously in the past you are more susceptible to injury again in the future. It's actually feeling better than I expected right now. I think the cool water in the pool helped, along with the reduced weight on it as a result of the water buoyancy. I really think this is more of a bad strain this time than an actual major tear. Tomorrow morning will probably tell me more. I was able to have a great time with the grandkids at the pool, they never knew I was gimped up.

Her dad was steel mill worker turned Methodist minister! Part of the problem was her 11 year old son didn't like me. She was not yet divorced from the husband, merely separated. He had cheated on her and she left him. The son said that since they weren't divorced she was doing the same thing. Smart kid.
Mike - My ankle is doing much better than I expected at this point. Come morning I'm betting I'm going to be just fine.

Very courageous of you to open up about what was obviously a painful past relationship. Her loss I say, you're a great guy with alot to offer. I had a **** ton of failed relationships and a failed marriage of 18-years. I didn't meet Dawn until I was 50-yrs old, and yet I was smart enough to see Dawn had so, so much to offer even though she had her own set of baggage. You go ahead and put yourself out there buddy, find some activities where there are some gals your age and go for it! I'm sure there's someone out there looking for a good man like you! Just do it!

Thanks Norm! Having been down this road multiple times, I'm resolved to the fact there will be considerable soreness in the morning. If it's not too swollen, and I can put put the majority of my weight on it, I'm going on with life as business as usual, including my cardio workout, which I skipped today because of mowing and the pool outing.

Jim - I've been through that B.S. w/ two clubs & during that period of time - we still paid annual membership dues for a course we couldn't even play. Suck my large ones.
On a more positive note. Happy to hear you got in nine.

Good morning everyone.

Ah, Friday. And I'm leaving early so it's very Friday. The computer says it's nice out.

Thanks Chris for the nice words. It wasn't painful at first, it was confusing. Funny, our breakup in high school was confusing as well. I won't go into it, but I remember thinking, what just happened here? But the pain set in once I started overthinking things. Both times. Here I was just adding to the crazy woman discussion. I wouldn't actually call her crazy, but full of herself for sure.

The guy who bought my Airstream some years ago, he and his [wife], I'm not sure they were actually married, were big into horses, and they were at the horse park in Conyers for a show and stopped by to see the trailer. Anyway, the wife said she wants it and they bid me farewell to go to the show. He comes back a couple days later to give me the money and tow it away and he's limping around like he's missing his foot. He said a horse stepped on the back of his foot(like the lower achilles tendon) and he'd have to limp around like that. I asked how long did he think it would be like that, and he said forever. I wondered if he was kidding or serious, I didn't want to know really.

Time for a walk. Whoever is in command of the bluetooth speaker today is playing girlish love-type songs, instead of the usual ghetto thumping crap. I better get out of here for a little while before I start telling people I love them. Have a good Friday everyone.

Mike - Maybe I'm wrong, but my observation, FWIW, is that Every Woman has her own version of Crazy! The question then becomes whether "her crazy" is compatible with "your crazy". I also believe, to some extent, that opposites attract. Dawn and I are very, very different in many ways, each with our own plus's/minus's. Thankfully when you put the 2 of us together as a whole, we make a pretty great team!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Good morning guys,

Woke up this morning and my ankle is in pretty good shape, little to no swelling, and minimal soreness, nothing that's going to keep me from doing anything I want to do.

Gonna be a hot ***** here today, forecasted high of 97° with a Heat Index of 103°. Sure as hell glad I got the mowing done yesterday! Forecast is for cooler temp tomorrow around 90°, intermittent thunder storms throughout the day.

Looking forward to the boy's hockey tournament tomorrow, but it will also be a long day day running and watching a total of 6 games between 0700 and 6:30pm. I'm sure we'll be hockeyed out at that point.

Only one Car Show I know of on Sunday and it's 85-miles away in the little town of Hoyleton, IL. I'm not sure I want to drive that far and there is about a 30% chance of intermittent storms again on Sunday. I'm also thinking I'll probably just want a break doing nothing on Sunday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
