The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
32 degrees and sunny here this morning. I need to pick up some sawzall blades and cut out a couple body panels before the rain comes back. I've got an old one that relies on extension cords so using it in the rain can provide more excitement than one needs in life
Both of my parents, in their early 70's, play cards every Tuesday afternoon at the church. Same church, different rooms, different games. One does bridge and the other play's 45's. maybe your church is the same, they have to keep it clear for the card games.

Sandy already gave you our local weather report so I haven't much to say about that.
I propose that Sandy should have The fiirst Annual Classic Oldsmobile.com Spring Down-Under Party at her house on April second to welcome Ausraven and to honor Col.
She could have the Outback Steak House cater it and serve Skippy peanut butter cookies for dessert.
Then afterwards we could all have designated driver Nicole take us for rides in Teepo. During the rides we could sing a rousing edition of Waltzing Matilda to celebrate the spirit of the occasion and for Adrian's listening enjoyment, Nicole would like it too.

Can I come.

De say "A roll'in stone gathers no moss."
So maybe, "A roll'in Brawl, gathers no Fuzz.
[ No offence to you son in law]

"Down by the billabong.................."

I'll practice up fer ya.

Blue..... I'm gonna "waltz" you right upside the head next time I see ya, lol!! You just ain't right!!! I have a feeling that Teepo is still gonna be stuck in the friggin garage on Apr. 2nd unless we have a miracle drying out spell, lol! Soooo.... since the Biggest Bluest One is sitting in a nice garage with a nice driveway, we can take her and Nicole can chaufer us around in her, lol!! Plenty of room for Adrian, wife and child and us!
I am so looking forward to meeting them and hearing their accents, lol! I love accents! "Tie me Kangaroo down, sport"

I like to meet members from here... I was sad at the Olds show when no one introduced themselves to me.
There were a few of ya there......Jamesbo.... you're more than welcome to join us!
Citcapp..... thanks for being concerned about me.... that's very kind of you! Nice to know someone cares!
Well I ate my yummy sketti and garlic bread, so I shall put on my boots and go walk it off! It's so quiet in here when Clay is off, cause he talks all the time, in that Texas accent of his, lol! I miss him when he's not here. He's my favorite of them!
Wolfie.... have a nice walk around the mall! Take it easy with the plowing.
When are you going to put a driveway into that barn Sandy?
I'll call Fusick and see if they can include Oldsmobile driveways in their next catalog for you.
My Vista may be out if it's nice enough, we can all meet at Le Denny's de Streetsyltucky if you won't let anybody in your house Sandy.
If the cat isn't even allowed in the house I doubt Larry would let us in.
I have no kid seat tethers in the Vista though, not yet anyway.
They have accents in Streetsyltucky too?
Oh... I forgot...you can't tell they have accents Sandy.
I sort of introduced myself to you at the Olds show Sandy?
I put on your battery disconnect too, the sidewalk supervisor comments I got when I was doing it were funny, "Remember to disconnect the battery".
I don't know why the other guys didn't say hi except for Wmachine, other than when they saw you and your sister sitting there in your lawn chairs you two looked so intimidating that they were scared to.

It's only going to 70 today at our place.... (sorry)

Yes you did sort of introduce yourself, now didn't ya, lol??? I don't think I even sat down for long in my lawn chair while at the show. You and I walked around most of the time. I really don't think I look that intimidating!
W is a nice guy. I talked to him at the BOP in Brecksville.Believe me, I'd love to have a driveway to that garage out back, lol! It would be so handy. This summer I'm gonna have Teepo in the house garage, the Tin Can, and the Intrigue in the drive.... musical vehicles, here I come, lol! I'm gonna be parking one of them over in the yard - can't wait to hear about THAT one!
He'll get over it eventually.... or not. His choice! You just make me laugh! You and Laura are more than welcome in the house, lol! And so are Adrian and his family! You're gonna scare the poor guy away, lol. We'll have to see how it works out when they know more about their timing and such. If they come by here first, I can bring them out to your place so they can see your cars, and maybe we can all go somewhere to eat out that way. Or something. We'll figure it out! I'm excited!
I like friends, lol! What's that about the accent, "suh"???

Ken.... you're more than welcome to come on down too. I'll pay the $5.50 for ya, lol!

Morning All!
Where is everyone this morning?? Frozen, lol?? It's a whopping 16 degrees this morning. We had snow and ice all last evening. Roads were being shut down - it was ugly out there! I left Tincanio parked outside last night - had to get out early and scrape. The sun is out, but only for looks, lol! Tree limbs and everything still coated with ice. I'm fed up!!
Clay is on his way back from our NY facility where he was yesterday. He said they're getting snow up that way too. It's very quiet in here today, except for Brian back here blowing his nose and hacking.......
I tried the honey and cinnamon thing last night. Mixed it up and spread it on a piece of toast. I hate the tast of honey, but the cinnamon hid it, thank God! I do think I feel a little better this morning. Throat isn't as sore, sinus' were open, but the longer I sit here, the more plugged I become. Got kind of a headache too. I brought a Cinnamon Apple tea bag with me today in case I want some later. It might help. I hate feeling crappy!
Well have a good day all! Stay safe and warm, lol!!

Still dark out so I don't know what the day is going to be like yet. I always look out the window as the weatherman is seldom correct. They always use the percent method of weather predicting around here, that way their never really wrong or right.
Sold a flywheel to a new member from Washington yesterday. He was so happy to get it. I think he will be a great new member

Not frozen Sandy. Although almost snowed in. We got 8-10 inches last night. After last week warming up and melting it all good old mother nature decided we haven't had enough winter yet. Oh well I guess we got our corn out Saturday, but not before I pulled a lower back muscle went to the Chiropractor yesterday he said I strained it. So not much physical activity for me for a couple days. I feel like I'm about 90. Which is pretty bad when in all actuallity I am 1/3 that age. Found out yesterday that Ogden Chrome can't re-chrome my trunk lid molding. I guess the car will go without one for a while longer. Until I find one decent enough to rechrome.
Im getting sick of blowing snow.
The ancient tractor engine's muffler leaks bad and I get carbon monoxide poisoning.
I'm dizzy by the time I get off of it, I backed it into the garage door and dented it once when I was putting it away because I ddn't realize the door was closed in my exhaust fume induced stupor.
.
I'll be damned if I'm going to spend 175 bucks for a repo can muffler for the thing, plus I like the way the loudness bothers my neignbors.
Most especially the the popping firecracker-like noise it makes when you push in the throttle too fast , big one cylinder engines are cool.
The replacement parts are American made and they are really nice, and no chinesium substitutes.
It has to have that muffler for the winter carb heater shroud that fits over it or I'd put a Cherry Bomb on it.
I know I'm boring you all but I don't live a very exciting life and to me it's a big deal.
All our cars broke down at once, even my daughter's car and she doesn't live here anymore.
I called my body guy and he does mechanical work so he's fixing them, no big deals just little pesky things. I would of fixed them if I had a place to do it in this winter cold and snow besides out in the driveway, and I'm getting too old for that anymore.
I don't know if it's because I'm turning into a wimp or gaining wisdom with age

THEN... we moved to Florida

Blue, It's gonna be 75 here today. The bulbs are coming up and the forsythia are starting to come out, and our yard will look like the Masters golf on TV with 50+ azaleas in bloom! I'll post some pix next month.

You know, I quit doing mufflers when I reached 65. Now, if you take your car to the muffler places, they cut the whole system off and WELD a new one on in about 20 minutes! What is the world coming to?

Sandy, you better go help Blue!

Yes my prayers go out to those effected by the earthquake. I lived in SoCal for 30 years before I retired to Thailand and went through many earthquakes....VERY SCARY. I remember sleeping in my car for days as i was to afraid to go back inside because of all the aftershocks.
Off to do some shopping today at the Mall. It's a VERY large indoor mall with about 300 stores, 30 restaurants, theaters, fitness center, outdoor pools and a Kidsland. I thought some of you might be interested in taking a ride to the mall with me so here is video of a trip to the Mall. Some shots of Korat and the "old city" which is still surrounded by a moat and has the ancient gates reconstructed. The Mall has alot of water incorporated into it. Outside and inside waterfalls and many inside fish ponds. AND it's all airconditioned.
Have a great day,

Blue, I really feel for you... I lived in that miserable part of the world for 55 years. First it was chains... they were outlawed 'cause they said they teared up the road. Next snow tires with STUDS! They let us use them for about 10 years and then they were outlawed 'cause they said they teared up the road. Then we had two sets of wheels and tires. Where the hell do you store those things?

The two sets of rear wheels and snow tire switching stopped about 25 years ago, or more.
I've lived here for over 55 years and I like it, home is a combination of a lot of things and the climate isn't one of them.
Living in Florida and badmouthing Ohio is like living in a glass house and throwing stones.
Did you ever figure out how to vote yet?

You can use studded tires and chains in Ohio from Nov 1st to April 15th and have for a long time.
Maybe you should move back here now.
Morning All!
Crisp and cold here, 12 degrees this morning but heading towards 30 later on. Heard another icy/snow mix is coming at us tomorrow night into Friday. Lord.... is it ever gonna end???
I really feel like crap today.
Gots a headache really bad. I imagine it's sinus pressure. I haven't taken anything yet, but will pop an Advil here shortly. Should have stayed home today. Eyes keep watering..... I don't like this at all!!!
It's gonna be a long day.
Have a good one, all!

Good morning everyone.
Hope you feel better soon cutlassgal.
It is a nice sunny day here today. -13C now and going up to -3C.
This semester's project is making a wood burning barbecue. Hopefully we will get enough of the core parts made up today to light it up and do some testing.

Woke up to snow this morning and supposed to have 6+ inches by tonight. It will screw up traffic as no one here knows how to drive in the snow. Good thing that I work from home. Guess I will get another cup of coffee and go to work. The machine shop call yesterday and my calculated compression ration on the 455 for 48 will be 10.4:1 which just about where I figured it would be. Should be able to swing by at the end of the week and see the progress. Went to the eye doctor for a check up and found out I have the start of a cataract on my left eye, not good news as I am already blind in the right eye. Guess I'll have to teach my dog to drive. And they call these the golden years, who the heck thought that one up.
I'll be driving up in a few months to visit!

Nope Now it's afernoon.
De day got away from me. Had to take sum gurb over to my sick friends house. Usually do dat on Tuesday but had a funeral yesterday and couldn't go. We had a nice vist but she claims she's got "Chemo Brain" The therapy wipes her out and she's not near as sharp as she used to be. From what I understand it's a temporary condition.
Got all my errands done. Went to de feed stow, office supply stow, grocery stow and what not.
Ya'll have a wonderful day.

Jamesbo.... if you lived up here in Stow, OH, you could say "I went to the stow in Stow"! You're funny, lol! Had to do it.... sorry! How is your friend doing? Improving any??? I feel bad for her. I know what chemo brain is all about. They just came out with calling it that a couple years ago, when they figured out that chemo patients were having a lot of memory problems later down the road, I read. Took them that long to figure out that, yeah.... healthy cells are being killed too! That's why the hair falls out. The hair cells are like cancer cells and the chemo kills them all.
Citcapp.... I'm sorry to hear about your eye! That's terrible! You'll have to get a chaufer to drive ya around! Are you going to have the cataract removed? It's a shame the Colonel's eye surgery never improved his vision. Poor guy. I agree with you about the golden years..... I heard about that snow out your way and was wondering if you would be affected. Larry's daughter lives in Lake Stevens. We don't hear from her too often.... gee, I wonder why? He talks to her like he does to Nicole.......
I went to the doctor this morning. Sitting here and couldn't breathe and said that's enough, so I called and made an appointment. I have some kind of sinus infection. Got an antibiotic for bacterial infections and a nasal spray. So hopefully I will start to feel better. Head is still pounding..... At least it warmed up out there. It was 29 degrees and the sun is still shining, which is nice!
Don.... where are you going in Ohio when you come back??

Reminds me, I need to make an appointment to get my annual eye exam.
I don't refer to them as de "Golden Years" I like to refer to them as the "Circling the drain years"
Anyone got an invite to de Royal Wedding they ain't gonnna use?
I've been to Mardi Gras, Super Bowl, Fished off the Moro, etc. I just have a few mo things on my "Bucket List' and a Royal Wedding is one. I'd also like to go to Paplona and run wit de bulls.
But it may be too old fer dat one.
Maybe If I get W-A-Y out front? [ I think de guys in de back are de ones who get gored and trambled.]

Afternoon all, you guys are just funny as
Pat I hope you can get your eye sorted out, just wouldn't be the same being chauffeured around
I have only seen snow once in my life, when we went to New Zealand last year and I fell in love with the stuff. I know Sandy you think I'm bonkers
there might still be a little left by the time we get up north
When we get stateside we are going to buy a disposable cell phone to use when we're there. Will make calling all our friends easier, and a lot cheaper then using my phone from OZ. I am looking forward to meeting a few CO members when I'm over thats for sure.
Jamesbo we are staying at my wifes friends place in Hotlanta, not to sure where exactly but thats ok as we are there for a couple of days so we will be able to catch up and have a good yarn and maybe some of that world famous tucker you make??

Sandy your place is around halfway to Lansing so it will work out well to stop and meet you and Blue and have a good rest and a feed

I am counting down the days, well the important ones any way (work days), only 5 left

Have a good night/day all, off to work to count 1 more off

*New* Good Morning.
Why do they call it Hotlanta?
Hasn't it cooled down from what General Sherman did to it during the war of northern aggression yet?.
Hey Adrian, there can be two feet of snow and a blizzard around here on April second or it can be 75 degrees and sunny, or somewhere in between.
March goes in like a lion and out like a lamb, then the lion comes back and devours the lamb sometimes.

Blue,
Gen. Sherman was way ahead of his time. It was actually the first "Urban Renewal" project.
Seriously, Atlanta began to grow right after WW II. There was alot of training down in Georgia. Taccoa [101st] Ft. Benning etc. And our northern neighbors liked the milder winters.
The airport hub and the invention of A/C brought them down in droves. We love them cause they brought with them lots of $$$$$. I think Atlanta is only about 16% "natives" and yep I'z one od dem.
BTW Delta airlines is not from Atlanta. They started in Monroe, Louisiana as crop duster.
Ausraven,
Jes ax them what part of Atlanta they're in .Every place has a name.Tell them, I'm in the new city of Milton jes north of Alpharetta. [pronounced Alferetta]

Morning All!
Freezing rain out here right now - a nice light coating of ice on the sidewalk here at work.
Supposed to warm up to the 40's, rain, then the temps drop so we get ice, then snow on top of it again. It was 33 at 8:00. I just might stay home tomorrow if it's ugly out there. I feel like crap anyhow. Antibiotics don't seem to be doing much of anything yet. I could just sleep......
Adrian.... I hope to heck there is NO snow when you all get here! I can put some in a bowl for ya and put it in the freezer, lol!
Then you can make a snowball or somethin. I'm really tired of looking at it and being in it!! Blue is right..... you never know what we're gonna get. Send me a PM when you're ready, and I'll give you my cell phone number, ok?
Have a good day all!

Pat, hope you can have your eye problems fixed. My mom had cataracts and had her corneas replaced and then had the best eyesight of her life, never had to wear glasses again.
Saw this cute pix and thought to share it. It's called "Did You Lose Your Cat?" The cat looks like ours except it doesn't have a black nose.

Good morning all
Snow on the ground here, not much, 3-4" is all. 35 of so miles north of my place they got 30" just last night. Supposed to snow most of the day today but then all gone by Monday. Crazy weather, this time of year.
Sandy, go home and go to bed and rest, you need that more than anything.
Jamsbo, cook up some good grub for Adrian when he hits town. Slow cooked poke ought to do it
Have a great day Olds lovers

What a cute picture! They come in our breezeway and eat my cat's food, sometimes the cat is just sitting there watching the coon and the coon doesn't bother him. Just walks around him and runs out the cat door when I come out yelling, lol!Citcapp..... I should go home, but I'm thinking of calling off sick tomorrow. I've been here all week like a good girl, lol! We'll see how I feel later. I hate missing work - even though I don't do a whole lot here. But I do have 4-1/2 sick days to use by the end of June if I need em!
Raccoons eat cats around here too.
If the Raccoon didn't go in there to get store bought cat food it would be going in there to get some real "cat food".
They had to take the baby off the Gerber baby food labels to send the stuff to Africa for the starving kids because when the people saw the picture they thought it was made out of babys and wouldn't feed it to their kids.
They'll eat dog and cat food with labels with the critters on them all day though, and then they'll eat the dogs and cats.
The cannibals consider baby food a gourmet delight.
Just don't tell them it isn't made out of American babys or you may end up sitting in a big iron kettle full of water simmering on a campfire in the jungle somewhere.

Two missionaries in Africa were apprehended by a tribe of very hostile cannibals who put them in a large pot of water, build a huge fire under it, and left them there. A few minutes later, one of the missionaries started to laugh uncontrollably.
The other missionary was incredulous, and said, "What's wrong with you? We're being boiled alive! They're going to eat us! What could possibly be funny at a time like this?"
The laughing missionary said, "I just peed in their soup!"
