A few minutes before the church services started, the congregation were sitting in their pews and talking.
Suddenly, Satan appeared at the front of the church.

Everyone started screaming and running for the front entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil incarnate.

Soon the church was empty except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew without moving, seemingly oblivious to the fact that God's ultimate enemy was in his presence.

So Satan walked up to the man and said, 'Do you know who I am?'

The man replied, 'Yep, sure do.'

'Aren't you afraid of me?' Satan asked.

'Nope, sure ain't.' said the man.

'Don't you realize I can kill you with one word?' asked Satan.

'Don't doubt it for a minute,' returned the old man, in an even tone.

'Did you know that I can cause you profound, horrifying AGONY for all eternity?' persisted Satan.

'Yep,' was the calm reply.

'And you are still not afraid?' asked Satan.

' Nope,' said the old man

More than a little perturbed, Satan asked, 'Why aren't you afraid of me?'
The man calmly replied, 'Been married to your sister for 48 years.

Mawn'in

Mawn'in,

It's a sad day on CO. I just read the thread the Col son wrote about his father passing.

Although we never met, I feel the loss of a dear friend.

Oddly enough,

I was thinking of him last night when I was watching Crocodile Dundee for the 2000 time. It came on late last night and I was gonna ask him what some of those Australian saying they used in the movie meant.

I really did feel [as I'm sure many of ya'll do] That I had a friend "Down under"

Sandy,

Would you please pass the sad news onto Allan/Bluevista. I feel certain he'd like to know

It's sunny here today, actually very sunny...it's the only reason I can think of driving to work today with a tear in my eye. He and I had a lot in common. I will miss really miss him on here. I didn't think I would feel this way about someone I never met. We had a lot in common. We were like the brother we never had. You other friggin people on here better take care of yourselves...I don't want to hear anything like this again.

Thanks for the thought Jamesbo, I saw the sad news last night and posted my condolences.
Too bad you have to get a shock like this to put things back into perspective sometimes, I can only hope I'm around here for a long time to come now, you guys better take care of yourselves too as said.
I gave my wife an extra big hug before she left for work, I thank God every day for not taking her last summer. I sure learned you can't take anything for granted.

It was good of his son to let us know so fast, I still cant believe it.
I feel as in as much shock and feel as sad as when my my one and only "real" car guy and pro mechanic buddy suddenly passed away at too young of an age a few years ago.
I really miss him , I know we'll all miss Col a lot, every morning especially.

Not a very good morning. My year sure is not getting off on a very good start, lol. I just can't stop crying! God, I just can't believe the Colonel is gone. I really loved him even though I never met him. My heart is soooo sad. He was such a "plick", lol! I'm sure that's how he'd want us to remember him, and not be all sad like I am now. What a great guy! God must have needed another angel for something. I hope he gets to meet my mom. They would get along great!

What an unexpected shock! He was just talking about the bush rats in the ceiling, for God's sake. Didn't say anything about not feeling good or anything like that. I already miss him terribly bad. I hope he did go peacefully without any pain or anything.

I'm glad the guys are in New York today, so they aren't here to see me crying away. Not a pretty sight, lol!! I am just shocked.

What Ken said....... take care of yourselves. Life is too short and precious. I feel like I know you all and I don't want to lose any of you. Ya hear????

Jamesbo..... Blue already knows. He posted over on Matt's thread early this morning. I was late getting on here this morning due to the guys leaving and phone calls and such going on. I wish I hadn't seen that thread. Totally unbelievable. Wish this were another of the Colonel's jokes....

Sunny - for looks only - and cold out here again. In the teens. Supposed to get warmer later and hang around awhile. I hope.

Try to have a good day all.

Some days I love my job!

Yesterday at work I had to hike along a fence that runs down the Oregon/California border. We need to do maintenance on the fence to keep livestock out of the wilderness area. While inventorying the condition I looked up to see Mt. Shasta in Northern California through the branches of an Oak Tree. Just had to snap a picture John

Wow John!, you have a really nice view from your office!
I have a new desktop background on my PC now.

Glad to be back, wish it was under better circumstances, sorry for being a jerk.
I can't stay away, it's like family here.
It's actually better, you guys don't show up at my house wanting me to work on your new cars because I have an old one and must know how to work on all cars..
Sandy's okay because she asks first and doesn't slap me around too bad or yell at me a lot when I'm working on Teepo.

It's OK for family members to disagree... as long as we all come back to the table at dinner time and try out one of Jamesbo's recipes together! And also to support each other during the painful times that come to us all now and then. For the days we have here on earth lets enjoy our families and each others company. To take the time to appreciate the beauty in the world. Be it a finely tuned Oldsmobile or Gods creation in the forest!

I agree with you 100% John. And that is an absolutely beautiful picture! Just perfectly framed in between those trees! I love pictures like that. I took those ones of those rainbow colors yesterday morning on my way to work because they just made me happy! I always take time to stop and smell the roses. Larry gets impatient with me, but life is too short not to enjoy the beauty God gave us. Doesn't cost a thing either. That's why I like the west so much. It's truly Gods country out there. Not man made, ya know?

I was almost on my way to that gas station in the middle of Montana somewhere to work incognito at forever.

Can I fix Rav4's?
I couldn't even fix a Quad-Four. (Olds humor).

My sister sold her Nissan Viagra and got one of those Ravenous 4's, l always thought they were the same vehicle.
She hasn't been able to open the rear hatch for three years.
I wouldn't even know where to start fixing it. I beat on it with my fist like Fonzie hoping it would open by itself but no luck.

X3 Jamesbo, and the same as Ken said, take care of yourselves. This is not going to be a good day I feel.

As the Colonels son said about having to sell his car we have to remember what he told us about it so I can roughly work out what it is worth so he doesn't get ripped off from some guy. From what I can remember it is in really good condition inside and out.

Try to have a good day all, take care

Glad to see you back Blue (you too Redgoat) My alter ego missed both of you as did I

I hear Sandy's new ride runs on gerbil power. One at each wheel for the four wheel drive. I think she has to say giddy up to go and gee for left and haw for right and woe to stop or something like that

Redgoat never went anywhere, he told me he was was talking to your guy?

Rapidly Accelerating Vermin 4.

She's rollin', rollin', rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
She keeps them gerbils rollin'
Rav4!

Sandy will probably smell like cedar chips after she drives it.
Hmmm....now that I come to think of it, that would take care of that pesky moth problem she has?

Good Morning everyone. I don't know if I have ever actually posted in this thread in the morning before.

It is a warmer day here, 23 right now and snowing. Going to spend some time working on the Cutlass today. The end of the paint job is getting closer and I have lots of other stuff to get done before then.

I here you have to replace those gerbils every 100,00 revolutions of their little wheels. They are unionized so you have to set up a retirement retreat in the garage for the little critters. That's why most people sell them before they reach the 100k mark.

Here's a little joke for the day

Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess "Will you marry me?"

The Princess said "NO!"

And the Prince lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles, drove his Oldsmobile, and went fishing and hunting and played golf and dated women half his age and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up .

So I have had a bad week with my back hurting so bad and all other things seem to follow suit. I guess finding out about Col has not set to well with me. Losing my dad a couple years ago kind of makes me remember how I felt. I went for a short walk yesterday and shortly found out that was a mistake. So now all I can do is sit on the heating pad til I see my Doc on Monday night. maybe another x-ray is in order to see if it's still all in place. bad news is we might get another storm Monday and I will have to plow snow. I is supposed to warm up and we could just get rain , depends on where the system passes us.

Wolfman, sorry to hear your hurting. Maybe you need to trade in the tractor for one of these. Should be easier on your knee as there is no clutch.

Dammit Wofie, I thought we told you a long time ago to take it slow and easy. You are some king of stubborn fellow that's for sure. That also applies to most of us guys. Most of us do not take good care of our health. Don't plow the snow. stock in food and drink and wait it out. Take care

If I go any slower and easier I will be heading in reverse for the remainder of my life. I have some folks here that depend on me plowing them out in case of a storm. My mom who is 83 plus neighbours 79 + 78 plus the other couple 74 + 72 and my girlfriend and one of her neighbours who is 70. He spends a lot of time away so wants his yard plowed when I do the girlfriends. I have a friend who is originally from Australia and used to bring veggiemite sandwiches to work so I know what it tastes like. Not to bad but an aquired taste as I remember , and I have been trying to remember. maybe I will have to go see Pat and ask for a slice of toast with Veggiemite on it next time I am there. I better make it as soon as I can.

Haven't had Vegamite in years, aquired a taste for it when I was in England for a couple of years with the Air Force. I'll have to get some and have it in honor of the Col. too.

When I came back from Australia and was asked "What is Australia like?" I answered "Canada with a tropical climate." When I was asked "What does Vegemite taste like?" I said "Stomach bile on bread." I guess you can say I'm fond of the people and country, but not of the snack. FWIW, I had something even worse in India.

IMHO

The trick to eating Vegemite is to use a tiny.... and I mean tiny... ammount of toast with a good size pad of butter.

A spoon full of the stuff would "gag a maggot"

Vegemite? I won't even eat horseradish or pickles, the mildest buffalo wings scorch my esophagus. I've never peppered any food on my plate in my life. I think I take after the Prussian side of my family.

The cars run for two hours then stop for a break for 15 minutes, forget about going anywhere at lunch or on holidays. I think they get a half a day off to vote too? If they're on strike you're stuck.
Sandy has those chipmunks that eat the bird seed she could corral, but no stinkin' chipmunk scab best better not ought to should of dare to cross a gerbil picket line.
With their little tiny burn barrels and picket signs.

Ain't it the truth, you can blame the dog.
If we could just train dogs to vacuum and do the laundry women would become extinct.....
I know a chimp could be trained to do it but I don't want to wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and see that my face has been torn off, I hate when that happens!

We need to hear these jokes/pearls of wisdom before we get married for them to do any good.
Too late for most of us now, hopefully the young single guys will take heed, if she's loaded... never mind.
