So last night I was reading the first few pages of this thread. Where's Wolfie (Wolfman98) and the American who now lives in Thialand (Rdrokit)? I also read the last posts of Col Wickham. Also haven't seen anything from Geckonz08 from New Zealand. And where's Adam (arodenhiser) - he's in our club, I should contact him. I should talk, I've been on here sporadically myself. Just wondering...have a good one.

Good mawnin Peoples....

Yup, today (including leap year days) I am 20454 days old!! Why just yesterday it only felt like 20453, but who's counting?? Thanks to all of you for the BD wishes

Aw crap, this puter is doin stuff to me again. Just lost my msg to Jamesbo and Clint....à and der it goes with the French ***** again

Jamesbo - Sorry to hear about de hounds from hell. Got de T shirt already puttin up with de neighborhood HFH. Wish sometimes peoples would look after der mutts instead of lockin dem out and lettin dem bark all day/night. Ifn you gonna be driven to drink, ah may just sashay over der an be sociable....

Clint - 15 per wheel? I'll be right over. Everywhere you go up here is the same bloody story. I started playing it smart by phoning and asking instead of driving to shops. It's like a contest up here to see who can rob you legally like a lawyer. No wonder the economy is in such disarray.

Scot - my condolences and prayers to you and family for your loss.

Sandy - shoulda got one set of dem wheels a different color to accent Teepo. How bout pink? That would make Eric (MDchanic) GREEN with envy.

Ken - no, YOU da man!

Mike - ya need a come a long to git that vette onto the trailer. Don't let it decide where it wants to go.....

Well, it's beautiful out today - nice blue sky and the inevitable wind. Should be a good one. Dat means grass cutting and stuff so I better get at it. Forecast is for a herd of cows wit flat rocks headed this way the next 4 or 5 days...my grass is REALLY green now. TTYL

Went out and bonded with my lounge chair at noon - it's about 77 degrees out there now! Called Bob at the body shop - he's gonna meet me at the house when I get off work, and take me to the shop to get Teepo! He said the wheels look beautiful! He's working on some of the bezels to make them tighter cause a couple of them were loose, he said.

He said she looks good underneath - frame is solid, floor pans are solid, just needs cleaned up and painted some under there. He did discover that someone did some work to her driver's side rear quarter panel at some time. I'm not even goin there, lol.

Don't know what this is costing me yet.... he said he'll give me a good deal. He likes me, lol, so I'm sure he will. He's a heck of a nice guy.... and he's cute too..... and he has Oldsmobiles...... ! Lead me not into temptation....

Allan, when they get to your place pick the nicest two and have them wrestle. Tell them that the winner gets to have you first, third and fifth.

Evening everyone.

Didn't get the Corvette worked on today. Slept till noon, did a lot of research to see what I could dump that thing for. Turns out not a lot. I found that the fuel line going from the pump to the carb was kinked in half, so I ordered a correct hose and maybe that will cure it. Now to figure out what's making the battery drain every night. All the courtesy bulbs are out, the alternator is new, can't be much more to it. Boy that's one heavy duty clock.

Clint I didn't get that, either. Allan hope your birthday has been going well, and doesn't stop till the wee hours.

Safe journey to Larry, Sandy, that's a long trip to have stayed such a short time. Maybe he'll stop in Davenport and play his luck on one of those casino boats.

Allan, the come along is the standard way of getting non-running cars up on my trailer. All three feet at a time. What a drag(as it were). I have a winch I need to install on the trailer, but I've been considering buying a new trailer, for years, and don't want to put the winch on if I'm just going to take it off again. I know, doesn't make much sense. The Corvette really needs to run before I take it to the paint shop. I'm sure they won't look kindly to me dumping a big plastic lump on them that they have to push around.

Ken this is a funny forum sometimes. All those guys you mentioned just seemed to disappear, well, aside from the Col. In fact, I happened across something Bulldog posted today, yet he hasn't been here for weeks. Hm.

Well off to work. Only two this week, so I hope they're good ones. I hope everyone has a nice night and a better tomorrow.

Good Evening Everyone.

Another nice day here today, but tomorrow is supposed to rain. The weekend is supposed to dry up but also get warmer.

Mike, good luck with the Corvette.

Happy Birthday Allan!

Sandy, how does Teepo drive with the new wheels and tires?

Clint, glad you didn't get any of the real bad weather.

Udo, enjoy your time off and have a safe trip.

Jamesbo, don't you love when you have nothing to do, then no time to do everything you need to do?

Only one day until the weekend.

Evening Olds Peoples,

Well we just got in from BD din din at the Beijing House. I'm stuffed, but I know I'll be hungry in another hour....

Clint - got the wheels balanced. They're fine, except....I told the shop there were 2 sets of new tires, make sure they get put back where they came off (I install my own in de spring and fall). So I was assured it would be so. Picked it up and got home. Then I noticed - one set (serial numbers) was on the left side, the other was on the right side. So I'm just gonna do it myself tomorrow. You think they would at least mark LF, LR, RR, RF on the tire huh?

Mike - I wouldn't know what to do with all them cars. I barely have room for 5 here. If the winch and come along don't work, next time try whistling and see if it moves....

Jamesbo - Larry would need to beat on Bob's head 893 times before he ran out of gas! By then it wouldn't matter much would it?

Ken - Tony's gift just arrived. They are all hot and sweaty from their trip so I offered to rastle wit dem all! Den we're gonna conserve water in de shower if you know what I mean.

Tony - What a thoughtful gift. I know what I'll be dreaming about tonight (getting some sleep!!) Oh, Shawna - the one holding the cake - is MUCH better looking in person. Kinda like being DUSTED I think....

Thanks all, you made my day feel special. Y'all sleep tight and stay safe.

Morning All!

Another gorgeous morning here! Sun and temps in the 60's now. Heading towards 80.

Well....... Teepo's wheels are beeeaaauuutiful!!! They just shine!! Bob and his dad were in the drive when I got home. He did a wonderful job on them! He said those McGard lug nuts from Summit are longer than the ones that were on her, but they work. He said he taped the end of the torque wrench so he wouldn't scratch anything, lol. Kept me under $400 - I figured it would be more with everything he did.

Soooo his dad brought his 71 442 over! I got to sit in it!! I've never been in a 442 before, lol. It looked good on me!!

Dark green with the green vinyl top. It was sweet! It has that his and her shifter or whatever it's called. Original interior.... nice. I guess he bought it in 1981. Has the original paint. Bob said they've never done anything to the paint or body yet. They race the car. His dad left some black marks on the street when he left! Boy it sounded suhweet!!!!!

Bob said he thinks Teepo could use some tie-rods. I told him maybe I'll get them done next spring. I'd like to clean her up some underneath there over the winter. You know that leads to the mightaswell list....... I don't know who I would have do that work on her.... Don Sitt's guy really messed me up this year.

Teepo and I cruised on over to Bellacino's after they left. Everyone liked the wheels!! One guy walked by the car and he said "this thing looks like it just left the showroom!" I was proud! Again, the place was packed. I had to park in the gravel leading back towards the wooded area where no one ever parks, lol.

Can't believe I forgot the cord to my camera, so I can't download the pics to my computer. I'll get them on hopefully this weekend. Gonna have lots of pics to post - a show tomorrow, and the BOP show on Sunday. Bob and his dad will be there.

Clay is off today so it's quiet in here. He has to burn up last years vacation he carried over by June 30th or lose it. We can carry over 5 days. I did, and am using mine. I have a day and a half left. Figure I'll use it for the Riverfront.

Jamesbo..... you just make me laugh! How's the beagel from hell doing, lol?? Poor Mosby..... I have to run out and let Nicoles dog out at noon, so no lounge chair today.

Well you all have a great Friday!

Friday mawning Peoples,

The weather here is absolutely beautiful, but it's not a beautiful day. Just got a phone call from my best friends wife. He said he would phone yesterday, but didn't. Thought maybe he forgot. No, that's the least of his problems. He had a massive heart attack yesterday on the golf course. I'm in shock right now. He was also my best man and my mentor at work for over 15 years. He's in intensive care in serious but stable condition right now. They won't let anyone but family visit right now. So it's a waiting and hoping game that everything works out right.

So sorry to hear, Allan

I hate those phone calls. How old a guy are we talking about? Since I'm kind of on the medium side of "geezer," I wonder about those things nowadays.

I'll keep him in my prayers, as well.

Looks like southeast Louisiana got everybody else's rejected weather, 'cause it really zucks today.... ~ 70% chance of rain, and muggy as London fog on the Thames. Doesn't look as if I'll be driving any of the toys this weekend!

But it'll be a good opportunity to catch up on other things -- let's just see if that happens....

Y'all have a great weekend and enjoy yer fab weather whilst it lasts....

Thanks Sandy/John. Ted just turned 70 on May 2. We celebrated in style out at his acreage. Everything he does or did was always with a smile on his face. Just being around him was uplifting. He's the kind of guy you can shoot de $hit with for hours and never get tired of the company. Not many people I've met have had that kind of positive effect.

Thanks guys. This is so very weird for me. Yesterday and today are like polar opposites for me. Yesterday happy and carefree, today really scared and worried. Sorry to unload this stuff on you. I think I just need the moral support. Thank you all. I will let him know there are unknown friends praying for him. He loves his family and friends; they mean more than money to him.

Just found out his heart beat was at 258 and they had to shock him to get down to a more normal rate. Normal for his age is 90-100 bpm so he was way off the chart. Jeanne says he's still in denial that it happened, but I think he's also scared and just doesn't want to show it.

Apparently the warning signs were there, but he was dealing with pneumonia for a short while and didn't realize how serious this was. His Dr. didn't even pick up on it. Glad to say though, the staff at the hospital came through like troopers and dropped almost everything to get him a bed and monitoring. Still, I'm terrified of what the next phone call could be.

Howdy everyone.

Allan, prayers for Ted. You can unload on us anytime. Anything you need you know we'll be here for you.

Jamesbo I've been trying to find pictures of "Hartsfield's Folly," but there are none to be had. Just a reference to the airport being called that in 1941 when the Mayor expanded the airport beyond the then current need. My Corvette is a 78 Pace Car. L82 4speed. Nice looking car, but a pain in the neck.

Sandy I'm glad the wheels look good. Don't let the tie rod ends go too long or it will start to wear the tires unevenly. You should paint the old rims glow in the dark.

Safe trip Udo, and keep me in mind if you need anything. Anyone who finds themselves in the Greater Atlanta area on June 24, pm me for our meeting info.

Last night of work, boy I like this two nights a week thing. Hope I can get some stuff done before the rain hits on Sunday. Have a great night everyone.

Thoughts are with your buddy Allan. I went thru the same thing a few years ago. My best buddy had a heart attack on x-mas day. Wasn't a massive one, but they put 2 stents in. The scariest part of it all is we are both the same age and we were 37 when it happened

Happy cookin Jamesbo, sounds like a good time.

Sandy can't wait to see teepo in her new shoes.

John hope the honey-do list goes easy on ya till it drys out a little. we've been getting into 60-70% humidity which is awfully wet for us desert people.

Mike I like that body style all the way up to the wedge of cheese change '84?

Yesterday was a big disappointment. The shop was busier than a cat covering crap , and we had to go pick up and pay for the daughters little Subaru. The kid did everything right to make a smooth quick transition. Googled the address, Faced all the franklins the same way, triple counted, filled out 2 bills of sale, went and got her insurance card, etc, etc.
So we boogie on over to the complete other side of Denver and pull up the guys house and he has the car in the driveway...

.... And it looks like the surface of Jamesbo's tiltiest.

Yup, been hit the 2 previous nights by hail. And the guy never mentioned a thing, and expected us to go thru with the deal.

My daughter had talked to him more than once after this happened and he never said a word.

I would guess it has at least $3000 worth of damage and maybe a lot more. So needless to say We have a nice blue one to go look at today that has less miles and is one years older.

Gonna take her and her BF to Six-Flags Elitches today for their upcoming birthdays.

Sandy I sure miss Cedar point. What a great park. Haven't been there since '03.

Everyone have a great day.

Good mawnin Peoples,

Today is going to be a mixed sun/rain day here. Same for the next few days so I may as well get used to it. Things sure are turning green though.

Clint - Sorry to hear about that jerkwad. One thing I can't stand is people like that. What a moron! Sounds like your daughter had her end all organized and ready. Hope the blue one turns out to be the one she will like. Maybe even cost a little less. I'm glad you were there or she might have been 'bullied' into buying the red one.

Jamesbo - save me sum ov dem good eatins. Sounds like you knows a ting or two 'bout grillin.

Udo - have a great trip.

Sandy - you don't need a patch cord to download most cameras. Just pop the memory card out and insert it into your puter. Most of them have a small series of ports just for that. When done, clik the icon at the bottom right to safely remove the device. Much faster.

Well my idiot neighbor 2 houses down is making himself popular with others that wanted to sleep in. He's out there cutting grass that he left for the last month. Guess he's doing it so he won't get an *** whuppin from his idiot dad who's been gone for the month. I'll be glad when those dorks move. They have been nothing but a pain for pretty much every one around here. Sad part is he's listed his house about 30K over market and if it doesn't sell, the Canadian Military will buy it from him at the ask + they're paying for his move to Quebec. Well, our 'loss' is theirs to enjoy...

OHH! BTW, the 'weed treatment' I gave my neighbor to the west is working fantastic. That 14 yr old can of 2-4-D is still effective even though it's been through the freeze/summer cycles that many times too. Maybe I should charge him for weed control.....

Well, that's about it for right now. Gotta go out to the garage and start playin soon. Got some pulleys all cleaned up and ready for paint yesterday.

Have a great day all!

Good evening everyone!

Got home almost late today, and slept most of the day. I hate that. It will make my weekend seem like it goes by too fast. Beautiful day, too, maybe the rain will miss us tomorrow.

Slow day on the Good Morning thread. I guess everyone is out enjoying the day and their cars.

Allan how's Ted today? Hope he's getting stronger.

Gonna get up early in the morning and hit the Awful house. That will be a good start to the day.

Well, I got nuthin. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Mike - No news today. Jeanne said they were taking him to another hospital to run some tests and I don't know how many or how long that will take. I'm trying hard not to bug her for details. I can't imagine the anxiety she's going through not knowing what's going to happen. I hope it works out ok too. In 2 years it will be their 50 th wedding anniversary. How many people do you know who have been married that long?

Jamesbo - Thanks, eh. I found 1 solitary shroom today but I dug it out and dumped it in de trash. De cow has returned and is lightly sprayin everything. Dang wind won't let up neither. It's downright depressin I tell ya.

Tony - I got that KE pulley ready for ya. Read your suspension thread for more details...

Clint - how did the blue car look? Good enough to deal on?

If I don't TTYL, have a wonderful and safe evening all.

Evening All! )

Just a beautiful hot sunny day here.... my kind of weather!! Got up in the high 80's today. Supposed to hit 90 and be muggy tomorrow. Gonna be a hot one being on the asphalt at the BOP tomorrow in Solon. Don't know why they moved it to there this year.

We were on the asphalt today at the show over at Quaker Steak and Lube. It was quite warm, lol. This is a new one..... the awards given were clocks! Nice ones though. It will look good in the garage. There were quite a few cars there. A couple other Oldsmobiles too. There were shows all over around here today. I'm downloading pics now.

Got Teepo all cleaned up for the show tomorrow! I was out in the garage last night until 10 cleaning her up for today.

Clint.... that sucks about the car. Sure hope it works out for ya with the other one! Nicole loves Cedar Point. I've never been there. I don't ride coasters, lol, and that's about all they have.

Allan R.... hope your friend is doing ok. And, I never thought about using the card to download the pics, duuuhhhh.....

No Allan. We spent Most of the day at the theme park. My oh My, There are an awful lot of people who are built for comfort and don't mind showing it off.

The Thermometer In the mirror of de chebby showed 103 down there on the asphalt. and it felt like it. I had my 100 SPF so I look like I've lived in a cave still.

Well. we busted butt home and then downtown by the University to make our appointment to see the car. And the guy didn't show and wouldn't answer his phone, so the frustrations continue. On the way back we stopped and looked at one at a 'Dealership/bodyshop' Paint sure looked good. Had higher mileage and a guy with a real harsh Russian accent came out of the garage area to assist us. I asked how bad the car had been wrecked and he got all butthurt. Saying that it wasn't wrecked. He just had painted it after he replaced the headlights, the front bumper fascia and the right front fender.
I looked at him a little ****-eyed and asked if he usually replaced perfectly good parts for the heck of it?

So we continue the search. Have a great night all.

Hey Sandy, Teepo must be a real trash pit if it takes you till 10 at night to clean her for a show ....so what prize did she win? Wait, I know. Most devoted owner!!

Clint - Now dat's funny! Vy yew tink dis kar no goot? Vee alvays paint dem for more big moneys. Wouldn't it be refreshing to hear a salesman say, " You're right. It was in a front end collision. We fixed it and have the body shop papers showing the replaced parts if you want to see them. The car is certified and ready for the road. Best of all the new paint means you won't have to take it to a detail shop for a long time to come". I'd prolly have the big one! Had one of them do the pressure thing when I was looking for a truck. It was a new Ford with 95K miles in 1 year. It had been run into the ground and there was an obvious fender/hood repair. Him: "Hey, dats low miles for a truck buddy!. How much you wanna pay? You give me $$$$$$$$ and we can do a deal today hey? I just turned walked away....he was still jabbering and didn't get the hint.

I don't have a problem with people built for comfort as long as they don't look like "the people of Wal-Mart". Take some pride.....

Guten Morgen All (as Udo puts it)

It's been rainy here for a few days. And is expected to continue this evening.

I would like to thank you for your condolences during this tragic time for me and my family. As some of you know, I had to bury my nephew this week at the young age of 22 It was a freak accident where he was ejected from a 1997 Explorer when he tried to over-correct after running off the road a bit and the SUV rolled over. Fortunately the coroner said he didn't suffer and his passing was almost instantaneous. I had to stay strong for everyone but it was very hard as we shouldn't ever have to bury our children.

Sandy, I thought you had a typo when you said "Quaker Steak & Lube" but I saw that was how it is printed on your clock. So it's not Quaker State & Lube?? Hmmm so you can grab a steak & baked potato while your car get's a lube job??

Udo have a safe trip to the US of A

Jamesbo take care of that cast of Sparticaii, hopefully you'll have blue skies up your way

Howdy doody everyone.

Lazy day here at the Campus and Grounds. Rain off and on, sometimes the sun tries to come out but that doesn't last long.

Scot that certainly was a tragedy. Those Explorers should be taken off the road. I hope your family can get back to some semblance of normal soon.

Udo, safe flight tomorrow. The American west is beautiful and I know you'll have a great time.

Clint too bad about both Subarus. The right car is out there. What happened to that guy that wanted to buy the 442?

Jamesbo why is your group the cast of Sparticus? Are they all wearing Roman times get-ups with sneakers and wrist-watches? Now that would be an interesting sight around the dinner table.

I guess I'll go find something to do. Whenever it rains I always complain that I can't do anything outside. But then when it's nice, I don't do anything outside anyway.

See you guys later. ("Guys" includes gals, too. It's a Chicago thing I can't help it.)

Happy (soggy) Sunday

Scot, that's too young to even have gotten a good start. So sorry.... may his soul rest in the bosom of Abraham.

Clint, I'm harder on myself with the to-do's than the wiffey is... she likes to read on the weekends, so I'm pretty much left to my own devices -- within reason .

The weather foreacasters they were pretty much right on so far.... It was miserable most of the day yesterday; then about 3:00 the sun peeked out, so Daria (wiffey) and I decided to go out for a walk and get some (albeit moist) air; it drizzled a little on us, but we managed a 45-minute jaunt.

So we gets back and and the sun was peepin' at us again, and there was no standing water, so at the urging of a wild hair in a remote anatomical location, we decided to go to Menchies after a friend told us how great it is; and since we virtually (and unfortunately) NEVER do fun stuff spur of the moment, I figgered -- "Hey, let's take the Starfire!"

So I jumped in the shower and I was in the Camry 20 minutes later moving it out of the driveway to get to the SF-- and the sky fell! Thank goodness it happened then -- and not 15 minutes later in the Starfire with the top down!

I've actually never used the wipers on the SF, so I might have been forced to test them out; but w/ no A/C or real defroster, I'm sure it wouldn't have been a picnic.

So we took the Camry... and Menchies turned out to be pretty good.

For the unitiated, it's a self-service frozen yogurt joint with about 30 flavors and seemingly countless toppings. I mixed some New York Cheesecake flavor w/ Milk Chocolate flavor, and sprinkled it w/ a few semisweet chocolate morsels --relatively tame; but it was delicious, I must say. The place is too small, tho', although Saturday afternoons is probably as busy as it gets. Little crumb-snatchers wuz flyin' about like bottle rockets on New Year's eve. We wuz lucky to even get a seat. (Plan wuz to eat the treat sitting in the car w/ top down, like Steve & Laurie in American Graffiti.)

Today's weather is basically a repeat of yesterday -- and last night was horrendous; we were awakened around 3 with copious litenin' & thunder; and it rained pretty much continuously until around noon; now the sun might be tryin' to peek out again, but not sure it will succeed.

So we have to write this one off... better luck with the outdoor activities next week; hopefully all the blue skies are bein' saved for da' 4th of Joo-Lie.

Y'all have a good one....
