Chris - I hope you hear nothing back from that contractor. It will save you tons of aggravation. Phukem!!!
Norm - Yep, that's about where I'm at with that outfit at this point! Next guy is coming Friday at 1000am. He would have come tomorrow, but I have my annual physical tomorrow morning, and that will be enough excitement for one day. I know it's important to go, but I sure don’t enjoy it, even less so since the doc I had for 35-years retired 2-years ago. I'm pretty sure they don't make em like him anymore. He would actually spend a little time with you and ask how you were doing and you could tell he was sincere!
It's the after lunch lull. We need to do 60 wheels in 2 1/2 hours. Not sure that will happen. Eh, not up to me to track all that.
Been beautiful the last couple days. Mom keeps thinking she sees an eagle nesting in the trees in the back yard. I actually saw something but went out there and couldn't see a nest or anything. Maybe when the weather turns we can see a little better.
Chris are you anywhere near Bolimar? There's a gorgeous 57 Fairlane retractable for sale there. I used to have a 59. Awesome cars. I really like the 57 Ford. You said you wanted another hobby car. This would be a fine one.
Nothing pressing to do after work today. I might take a nap. Got up early and came in for overtime. I'm starting to feel it now. I'm doing overtime on Saturday, what fun that will be.
Okay wheels trickling in. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Mike - I believe you meant to type "Bolivar", not Bolimar. Bolivar is a little over 200-miles southwest of me down near Lake of the Ozarks. In any case, as much as I'd like a 2nd car, it ain't gonna happen until I have adequate space under roof to store it. That means not until I either sell both my motorcycles or my 4-4-2. I don't see myself ever selling my 4-4-2, and have been on the fence about selling my bikes. Thanks for the suggestion on the Ford. I have nothing against Fords, I had a '66 Mustang, 289 w/4-speed when I was in highschool and loved it, and I still have my 2000 Ford XLT 4x4 which has been an absolutely incredible truck. However, if I ever do get a 2nd classic, it will be a '70 or '71 4-4-2, or a Mopar muscle car. I'm partial to Dodge Coronet R/T's, Super Bee's, and Plymouth Road Runners and GTX's.
Jim - Floured founder is a favorite of mine, as well. Although, to be perfectly honest, I prefer ANY fish of the inland freshwater sunfish varieties.
Norm - I'm with you, I much prefer freshwater fish to ocean varieties. Fresh crappie and walleye filets are by far my favorites. Marinated in buttermilk, then battered with a combination of flour and yellow cornmeal, and deep fried in peanut oil. Fish doesn't get any better than that!

Norm/ Chris, If my father was still vertical [would have been 108 yesterday] i could have fixed you up He always had enough bream to feed a southern Baptist convention
I like fresh water fish also, i was reared eating them. So young my parents had to de bone them and put a crumbled pile on my plate with the omnipresent cole slaw and hush puppies and lots of sweet tea
Truth be know, I am not a very good [or often ] deep fryer of anything
Norm, I would call has brown's deep fried. After I posted I gave frying sum thought. I fry hot water cornbread and okra But like hash brown it's more pan fried [ in a little oil] than deep fried like fish, shrimp and hushpuppies
Some friends raved about air frying so I bought one. It's still in the box
IMHO it's not worth the trouble unless you have a crowd. It's like the deep frying turkey craze a few years back. If you don't invite 30 of you neighbors to come use you oil, it ain't worth it
Every time I think about fried fish. I think about my step mother having a big fish fry at a lake cabin not to far from my farm. She invited the cast of Spartacus and one of the guest was a big polo player that at one time owned 5/6 restaurants in some of the local malls. 'Besides the fact his wife got sideways and got her Fiat Spyder stuck in the dam spillway because she didn't know left from right, I found it interesting /funny the guy who owned all the eateries had never eaten fried fish and I had to show him how to remove the bones
I guess alot of it depends on how/where you were drug up
My bookkeeper's husband is a GREAT cook.
They are going to have a small party so I gave her some of these yesterday she'd never heard of them but I'm sure she can spell Zamboni
Speaking of hurricanes, we have one just off the left coast that may even drop some rain on us this weekend. There are clouds in the sky, humidity in the air, and the forecast high for Saturday is only 95. It's all so out of place for the desert.
Deep frying is for people that are either *really* good at it (which most people are not), or restaurants. As such, we don't even bother in our house. Want fish? We're going out, unless it's salmon that we either bake in the oven or cook on the grille.
Air fryers can be used for soooooo many things. We have done chicken, pork, steak (in our NinjaFoodie XL air fryer), french fries, tater tots, pizza. They really are useful, but my wife is in love with kitchen gadgets, so she's always looking for better / healthier ways to cook.
Did anyone happen to see that trainwreck thread in the Racing forum? Two guys going back and forth every couple of minutes with insults, it's rather entertaining.
Regarding deep-fried foods, growing up and location thing. In the great white North, it's an odd phenomena. I grew up with fish boils - tons of potatoes, onions and Great Lake fish thrown into a VERY large deep kettle outdoors. Although, they know how to deep fry every vegetable known to mankind including cheese curds.

I can remember as a pup, Way before McDonalds, some workmen were fixing my grandmother back steps, They in for lunch and she fried them up some fish like she was making a PBJ. It's a lost art
Zamboni. In response to Jim, as he posted food I know nothing about. When I was a tyke, we fished for perch on the Muskegon channel, and mom breaded and fried it, and I always ate them. Now, I don't care for fish, Tuna, and that's about it. I've gone to Long John Silvers and ordered the chicken planks (with hush puppies).
Ah, Bolivar. Odd that it is so far away since it was on the St. Louis craigslist. Well, too bad for you what a beautiful car. You mentioned not having enough room. When I had my 59 retractable, it was a couple inches longer than the garage. If I backed in and let the rubber bumper tips push into the drywall on the back wall I could just let the door down, but there wasn't enough room to slip a dollar bill. Since I was not good enough to back precisely into the same space, when I moved, the back wall had several divets in it. The retractable is several inches longer than the standard Fairlane 500.
Aside from the aforementioned Long John Silvers, the only fish I ever fixed for myself was a big hunk of halibut that a friend of mine gave me. I went online and got a recipe to fix it. I boiled it in a big pan of water with about 5 pounds of sugar in it. It tasted like sweet hot water. I just had the one hunk, so I couldn't try another recipe.
As far as deep frying, I'd eat a rock if it were deep fried.
Took Mom to the laundromat this afternoon. Lots of people there, I thought I was in the local trailer park gathering area. Holy Toledo. Mom just loves it. She wonders why I don't bring my stuff there. Hm. So do I...
Good day at work. Our target number was 132 and we had to do more than that. Final count, 133. Hopefully we do okay tomorrow. We're working Saturday.
Oh guess you guys hadn't seen that the Queen died. Wow she's earned her rest that's for sure. It will be hundreds of years before there's a longer serving monarch, if ever.
I hope Harry has the decency and respect to come in for the funeral. And also to leave that gold-digging shrew at home.

Jeff - I don't know if I am "really good" at it or not, but I've deep fried a $hit-ton of fish in my day. Back in the day (+15-years ago) when I had my boat and used to fish alot. We used to go to the Tennesse portion of Kentucky Lake near Paris, Tennessee during the time of the Crappie spawn. We would go for long 3 or 4-day weekends. The limit was 30 fish per person per day, and more often than not my fishing partner and I would limit out, or close to it each day. Now these Crappie are the largest I've ever seen, and we never kept any that weren't big enough to easily filet. By the end of the season I'd have way more fish than my family of 4 could ever eat over a year, so I would hold several fish frys for family and friends.
Chris - A considerate physician will warm up the K-Y. I hope your new M.D. was considerate.
Norm - He was considerate, but I still didn't like it! The exam went well. Resting heart rate 54, BP 105 over 50. Hopefully all the lab work comes back good, always has, but ya never know. Decided to get the Shingles vaccine while I was there. I had a very, very mild case once, and I want to avoid a worse one. Have to go back in December for the 2nd shot.
Nice work you've done on the R&R of the electrical connection. Got the 2nd quote on our roof replacement today, $2,500 less than the other Yahoo, all pricing (labor and materials) transparently laid out and easy to understand, much more professional. Still looking for a recommendation to solicit a 3rd quote.

Mike - I don't think you mentioned before it is on St. Louis Craigslist. You've peeked my interest, I'm gonna look for it. Your right,, those things sure are long, probably just as long as the old wagons.
Norm are you residing in Bermuda? I thought you were in NC.
Although the meme with the queen and the presidents is funny in the other thread, I will not use it for a while. I did download it in case it gets deleted.
I grew up on a lake in Central FL where my dad still lives. One of the things I did for him during my time last month is we lowered his 1980 FisherMarine into the water enough to submerge the power unit of the 40 HP old Mercury and I ran the engine for him to warm it up and cycle it all. We will go on the lake during the Christmas holiday.
We'd fish for bass, but mostly speckled perch, which is specks in FL, and is also Black Croppie, and called Croppie in educated areas, and Crappie in areas of less sophistication. He'd always filet them due to us kids, and we'd fry them in a pan, low heat, minimal oil.
HEY Norm....I had to go out to my shop to make sure my clamps were not stolen. You have nice tools and equipment. good job
Ray - That's funny. Thanks. I used TITEBOND III ULTIMATE WOOD GLUE to create the laminate fascia piece and for securing that piece into the fascia itself. I countersunk two 4" SS wood screws into/through the laminate piece for attachment to the existing fascia then clamped it all together. I'll use Polyurethane caulk (PL) to seal gaps prior to sanding.

I made a Albacore Tuna salad w/ white onions + Duke's Mayo this morning. Getting ready to create a grilled tuna melt sandwich (w/ ColbyJack cheese) to eat at the turn (Hole 9) today. Tee-time @ 8:26am.
Norm and Jim - Thanks for the compliments on the "mess of fish". I sure miss those trips, and all the good fish to eat. I also miss early mornings, just after light, floating down the Current River near the Arkansas border fishing for Smallmouth, so beautiful and peaceful. When I had a cabin down there I'd get up before light and have the boat in the water and get to fish for about 3-hours before the kids were even out of bed, good times for sure!

John - Although I may spell it as "Crappie", you'll be glad to know I pronounce it correctly as "Croppie"!. I'd hate for you put me in that group of folks living in an area "of less sophistication".
