Guys I want to thank you all for the well wishes. My spirit isn't crushed just yet. One week along on recovery and im starting to feel normal. Im excited to get my engine back in . I got word from my buddy and member 67cutlassfreak that he finished breaking in the cam and has it running good. Although I wont be able to make the local bop race in sept. there is one more bop race that is 2 hrs away and im going to push for that. I busted my *** all summer working on my car and im so close giving up now makes no sense at all. Im recovery fast or so I think and I cant wait to be back in the garage again.

Ouch,
That's gonna leave a mark. They say it isn't yours if you don't have some blood in it, well it's definitely yours now. Take it easy and heal up soon and be more careful next time you could really hurt yourself.

I can say I have been branded by my olds now lol. In 10 years of messing around with cars this is the first serious injury I have had. It is a lesson well learned and makes me think of the other bone head things I have done.

Ouch! That hurts to look at...wishing you a speedy recovery.
Just a piece of advice, try "second skin" and an elastic bandage rather than gauze and creme. My wife used it on a serious case of road rash. The lost skin healed quickly and almost no scarring. Walgreen's or Osco should have it.

yikes!.......get well soon!......thats nasty!..........I never break in a fresh motor with a thermostat!....extra fan blowing on the radiator and then after a good 3500 rpm run at 15 minutes i shut it down to thermal heat cycle the motor....all would be fine but you have an untested thermostat on a new motor and air pockets and no bleeder screws to bleed the stystem....glad it didn't hit your face!....no thermostats and no antifreeze for break in....
ps....roller cams are heavy and over rated and require way too much seat pressure for a street car in my opinion....guys running 10 second ets all day with out them and valvesprings are happy...my two cents..

Speedy recovery and best of luck for the healing. Watch you don't get the areas infected. More power to you.
I got parts of myself coated in molten plastic some years ago working on the pipes and spent too long in hospital having multiple skin grafts after they cut it all off. Long recovery in the hottest part of Australia in summer. Unpleasant memories.
Burns suck.

Wow... I'm so very sorry that happened to you. Thanks for posting it because it may save someone else from having a similar accident. You are so right about we tend to not realize how many risks are involved w/hot water under pressure in our cars. Good luck to you and I hope for a speedy recovery.

Im also sorry to see this happened to you, burns can easily get infected so use what ever meds the docs gave you until its healed. It looks pretty bad to me but i have worked in a burn center, some of the things i have seen would make you cry. It did me.
God bless you to a speedy recovery

Joe im doing good. My arm is all healed up and I now have a two toned skin lol. The color should come back but my t shirt sleeve covers 90 percent of it so no biggie. I got a lot going on personally so I have not really been on the site too much.
