previous frame repair & paint question

My 64 cutlass was at some point hit very hard on the passenger front end. . I know the whole front clip was replaced (the paint doesnt match, and the primer is a different color), and now I finally noticed where the passenger side front frame horn has been replaced. This must have happened between 1964 and 1977. I'm curious about the procedure back then ..would this part have been available at that time as a gm produced piece, and aftermarket part or would it have come from a scrapped car...

Back around 99-2000 i sandblasted the frame and used some sort of rusty metal primer and rustoleum top coat. The car has been off the road since then and indoors. The paint has most held up well but several places are coming off with my fingernail and Im finding surface rust underneath. Im wondering if i should strip it all again and start over with POR15, or just hit the areas that need it. Ive had POR not stick to a caprice frame i recently did, I think i had gotten the metal too clean, anyway if i strip this frame down i worry it will be too clean for the POR to work properly..

Well, does anyone have experience galvanizing a frame?

Ive reached out to a place right down the road from me for details.
On alot of other forums, people claim it can warp the frame or dissolve the welds, but no one really points to a specific incident of that happening, they just think it can. Every personal testimony I have seen has been positive.

The only guy around here that can powder coat a chassis is very expensive 1600-1900 to sandblast and powder coat black

Yes, the frame horn was a factory available repair part. Whether this one is one of those or salvaged from another frame cannot be determined.

Thanks for the info
i was just curious

I did hear from the galvanizing company
I would likely be under the minimum charge of 390$
that includes $.50 a pound to “burn” the paint off and .47 a pound to galvanize it

i asked about warpage and they replied that “ deflection it is always a possibility”

so. I don’t know how I feel about all that
