heres the valvecovers the way they used to look, once the engine is back together , the block and intake will be black, and have chrome and the blue powdercoated stuff, valvecovers , pulleys, brackets. etc..

nice work Drop in the process of dropping the front pans in mine.....I`ve had them cut out for a couple of weeks haven`t had the time to get them back in yet though.The Vale covers look great in that colour

I replaced the pans in my old '72 Skylark. Wouldn't wish that job on anybody. But yours looks much better than mine! *CJ turns envious green*

LOL, we actually bought the welder and argon for this project, neither of us has welded for at least 10 yrs.We both took turns at the welding and we just took our time and tried to do it right

the fun part was welding the bottom , we over lapped on the top to strong metal, then hammered up on the bottom so they met and welded there, then we painted top and bottom with the red oxide primer, next we will coat the bottom of the car , i guess with undercoating unless i find somethin better..

 

thanks, i love the valve covers, they look good in the pics but ill tell you , it looks even better in person!
As far as the floors in yours, just take your time and think things through. im sure they will come out good.also make sure to have someone standing by to put a fire out if needs be. i had a few places flare up on mine..behind the kick panels on mine there is some kinda goop? duct seal? lets just say highly flammible, and trying to blow the flame out with the mask still down..umm dont work.lmao

 

Thanks CJ, as you know its a very involved project, not as easy as you might think, But overall me and my buddy feel it wasnt as bad as we thought it would be either. NOT that we want to do another set.lol, but if we had to we are ready and im sure could do it in half the time

Primer absorbs moisture, and'll make rust faster on a floor, if there's ever any water!
I've used Rustoleum - brush it on for a real good seal!
Good job on replacing the metal!

 

Did you have to replace the two cross struts from side to side? These hold the floor up and the seat bolts are mounted into them. How was the condition of your frame? Did you have any rust holes that had to be welded?
