70 Delta 88 trunk seal problems.

So I was having pretty serious leaking in the trunk of my 1970 Delta 88 Royale. so I bought a new seal on Ebay. said it was the correct one for year and model. I just installed it a few days ago and now it leaks worse. just wondering if anyone has had this problem. or has replaced this seal. it doesn't seem like its making enough contact at the very back when its properly installed in the channel, so I had to pull it out of the channel to bridge the gap. also by the taillights its leaking both sides. maybe 2 Pt of water every time it rains. I just don't really know where to start to fix this. thanks guys. here's what the shape of the seal is.

Are you sure its the seal and not the rear window channel? Lay in the trunk with a flashlight and have a helper spray water on the whole area.

Yeah. A few days ago I did that with a friend. He said he could see light in the places where I thought it was leaking. I have a small leak from the Windows. But the seal is a much more significant leak.

Was your trunk damaged and repaired in the past? Perhaps there's a slight warp in it. If not, you should be able to adjust the position of the trunk slightly by loosening the trunk lid from the hinges and moving it 1/8 inch or so.

I don't think it's ever been damaged. Unless it happened forever ago. It doesn't look like anything been repaired. Playing with the hinges is a good idea. I'll try that and see if it does anything. Thanks.
