Squeaky / Creaky brake pedal
Squeaky / Creaky brake pedal
I guess they better word is 'creaky'.
When I step on the brake pedal its a creaky noise coming from the pedal area in/behind the dash. No noise related to the brakes itself, pads/rotor/caliper, etc.
The brakes appear to be functioning as expected but I get the noise with the travel of the pedal.
In looking at the service manual, 5-110, seems there is a bolt, a spacer and a couple of bushings mainly holding the brake arm to the bracket assembly.
Has anyone had anything similar? Is they any point of lubrication that can be applied? Seems there is a bushing on either side of the arm, can those be getting worn or have worn down?
I don't relish crawling up under the dash but will have to start poking around.

Yes, My 71 Cutlass does it. It is in the vacuum booster. About 7 yrs ago I also had a Vista Cruiser which needed a vacuum booster, so I decided to buy a new nice looking booster for my Cutlass- then use the one out of Cutlass on the Vista. After swapped out noise stopped on Cutlass and was now squeeky on Vista. Now its been a while and squeek is coming back on "new" booster on Cutlass. Doesn't seem to bother anything- just squeeky/creaky.
Thank you all for the suggestions!
Seems to make most sense to go easy to difficult if needed.
I'll lubricate what I can... jam what I can at the bushing area...
In lieu of that investigate the bushings for replacement and it all else fails, think about the booster, even though it is in nice plated condition.
I'll try to crawl under there and try to actuate the pedal myself which it prob a next step as well for investigating the noise.
I may just unbolt the seat to give my back a saving grace.
