Mocephus: I see that Scarebird liked your how-to tutorial from the AACA site, that they included it in their sales pitch on Ebay... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Oldsmobile-67...item564231b41b

I also see that their price for their kit is now $345.01 instead of $295.00.

If it works for them, then it must be good to go!

I also do not see the kit listed on their website. http://www.scarebird.com

Thanks, for all the detailed pictures! This helps a lot of 'B' body owners, including myself!

From their eBay ad...
We make disc brake conversions for almost all 1940-70 rear wheel drive Oldsmobiles (sorry 1958 guys).

Yea, I gave them permission to use it if they wanted to, along with the pics. Figured if it would help out other Olds fans then it's worth it.

I'm not surprised about the price, it's been over 2 years since I bought my kit. Everything seems to be going up these days.

I've heard a few times that the kit is not listed on their site. No idea why, but they do have it available.

****UPDATE**** I may have found a way to convert factory disc cars to the scarebird kit. Check out this thread in the Delta 88 section...

I couldn't tell you for sure, but I'm sure a phone call or email to scarebird would get a quick answer. I don't see why not, but it might cost extra.

Thread bump...

Emailed Scarebird regarding disc brake kits (front and rear) for a '64 Jetstar I (potential project)...they are asking if the factory brakes are "light duty full-size"...were there "light duty" and "heavy duty" braking options on the '64 Jetstar I? Also, would there be any disadvantage (other than new rear axles) converting to a 5x4.75 bolt pattern so I could run SSII wheels? TIA...

I know this is a bit late, but what they are asking is whether you're talking about a Jetstar 88 (9.5" drums/4.75 bolt pattern) or Jetstar 1 (11" drums/5" bolt pattern). Probably want to be sure exactly what you're looking for before they give you an answer.

1966 Delta 88 Power Brakes Master Cylinder

I have a kit coming from scarebird.com. I have a question regarding the power brakes. I would like to if anyone knows a proper dual master cylinder and booster combination that would work on my 1966 Delta 88 two door Holiday coupe. I have been asked something about the piston rod lengh short or long.

65 delta kit

Ok some help here. I just got an email back from a Mark at scarebird. He says they don't have a front kit for the 65 delta. Anyone done a 65 delta? Know what kit I need? He told me that the 65s use a small bearing spindle and their kit is for the 66 with the large bearing spindles. Does anyone know if I can change the spindles for the 66 ones? And if I can where can I find some. Thanks.

I'm bringing back this old thread - Scarebird lists the same bracket and hub kit mentioned in this thread as fitting 61 to 64 full size Olds such as Starfire. Has anyone out there actually installed this kit on a 63 or 64? If so I would be very interested in your experience and the results, please post or send me a PM.

Master cylinder and booster?

I got the kit and parts as you suggested (great instructions). Discs front and Drums rear.

Now I need a new master cyl and booster. I have a 1965 Delta 88 and I have a single M/C. I have ordered a 1967 dual M/C and Booster (Bendix). Is this the correct one for my application?

I assume I will still need a proportioning valve on the rear (drum) side?

Thank you Steve

Hey guys, just ordered the front disc conversion for my 66 delta from scarebird. I asked them what I should go with for a duel mc and they said to send the booster in so they could look, wasn’t sure if you guys that have installed this front brake kit on a 66 delta knows of a master/booster combo that I can just bolt on. Save me from having to send my booster in. I know I will need a p valve. Thanks

Did you ever figure out what booster/dual master to get? Also did you get a proportioning valve (which one)? Looking to do the same on my 66 Starfire.

I am trying to figure out how to update my master and booster to dual MC on my 66 Starfire. Just spoke to Booster Dewey. To use a dual master cylinder with a shallower depth, you need to replace the rod in your power booster to get a shorter one. The rod is between $5-$15 depending on what booster you have. Still haven't figured out which master to get.

Hi I am also about to begin a front disk conversion on my 1966 Starfire and want to know if you ever found out what master cylinder, booster, & proportional valve are needed?

Gents, as the OP mentioned an adjustable proportioning valve needs to be used. Here's one available at Jegs:

https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/6302...SABEgIeiPD_BwE

For the master cylinder and vacuum booster you might consider going to the auto parts store and getting units used on the 71-76 Olds Delta 88/98. I would be interested to know what the OP used. Of course, aftermarket units are available.

Thanks for the quick reply! I will order that proportional valve today but I noticed the OP used Olds parts but I recently purchased my kit and it is calling for 69-76 Eldorado rotors, calipers, brake pads, and front hydraulic hose. I have also found information The dual master from a 1962-66 Cadillac bolts up to stock booster. Are you able to confirm this information for me?
