Fender to hood arch

Seems the arch on the fender doesn't match the hood on one side. After going crazy trying to correct I finally noticed the space where the crumples are is wider on the fender with the non matching arch. Looks like it was welded at a different point. I'm installing on my 70 supreme. I bought the donor fender that was off a 442. Is it possible the hoods curve are different. Not sure if this makes any sense but hopefully it does too someone. Thanks for looking.

Large gap under crumples

Smaller gap under crumples are matching curve with hood

No, the hoods are not different, nor are the fenders. Those are 71-72 fenders with the crumple dimples, but that doesn't matter either. I assume you're installing an aftermarket O.A.I. hood?

Very normal and typical for OAI hoods.

Not installing OAI hood. Original supreme hood.

Sorry, I made a bit of an assumption there. I’ve never had issues with the arches on factory steel hoods. I would suspect that if there was a misalignment that it would be on the hood side though.

I thought the same thing until I measured the gap below the crumple zone which is greater than the other fender side that matches the hood curve.. Not sure I'm explaining this correctly but there is definitely a different in the 2 fenders

If you could source a different fender for mockup, you could find out pretty quickly. Anyone local who could loan one to you for an afternoon? Or perhaps you have a spare?

Sounds like you identified the problem which is half the battle. Could you drill out the spot welds in the area that doesn’t line up and then reweld them after you reshape the fender to match the fender?
