I've got 2 small leaks on my oil pan. One it at the the front center of the oil pan and timing cover. The other is right behind the 1st large bolt on the front drivers side of the pan.
Used a brand new cadmium plated steel pan.
Cleaned all surfaces with break clean
Installed the pan with the right stuff gasket maker
Engine was upside down for 24 hours while drying
Bolts torqued to 10 ft lbs.
I've read all over the internet the the 350 diesel has a 1 piece steel core that will fit a 455.
Also people say that the 307 has the same part number

The diesel gasket is a thicker version of the gas gasket. Its thicker to fit the diesel thicker oil pan rails. I used one on a gas engine, I wasn't impressed. Lot more expensive, and doesn't fit a gas block nearly as well. I'm pretty sure the larger oil pan bolts are torqued more than the smaller ones, I don't have a manual handy to look.
I use the common diesel. It is not a one piece - just normal 4 pieces. The side gaskets are steel core with a rubbery coating instead of just cork. Can be trimmed to hug the block.
Leak at the bottom of timing cover isn't uncommon. Make sure the rubber gasket gets crushed when installing the pan. A thin line of RTV can help. Also make sure it's not the balancer seal and just pooling on the pan.
I'm also a massive fan of spray copper at the moment. Nice and sticky, doesn't squeeze out, cleans up easy. Someone will probably show me the errors of my ways.
I know this is an old post but it helps when researching these subjects. I needed to order an oil pan gasket as well for a 455 and see that RockAuto lists a 1-piece oil pan gasket, with a picture, from EngineTech (ENGINETECH OC350R) if you search for 1980 Olds Delta 88 Diesel for example. Its currently not available or maybe never was available but its the only 1-piece I have found so far.
I didn't know there was a 1 piece oil pan gasket for Olds engines. As you said, it seems that part is no longer available. Maybe someone else on our site has more info?
Rock auto shows that gasket as being for a SBC, not an Olds.
I see it listed when you search 1980 Cutlass Diesel 350 too? Maybe they are interchangeable? I actually do not see the gasket when I searched for 1980 Chevrolet k10 pickup for example.
This should be your first clue that this gasket won't fit an Olds motor. Every 1964-1990 Olds V8 has the dipstick on the LEFT (driver's side). Once again, view online catalogs with a heavy dose of skepticism. MOST are incorrect when it comes to Olds parts.
Appears it may be an LT1/LT4 pan gasket for a chevy. OC350 is the alternate number for this Mr. Gasket version, apparently. But yeah, if dreams came true, a one piece would probably be a whole lot easier to deal with.

Sadly, local stores pretty much use the same digitized application database. No one has paper catalogs anymore. The fault is with the manufacturer's catalog, not RA.

I did a bit more research and found that if I used the drop down box on the Rockauto website it listed a bunch of GM models that the 1 piece gasket is supposed to fit including Old's models from 1977 to 1981, Assuming it is correct that Old's pan gaskets are interchangeable so that is
good news, Bad news is that nobody in the USA has any stock, my suspicion is that there is a major issue with this range i.e they leak like a sieve and have been removed from sale. I have contacted the manufacturer about this issue and will come back and post what they told me as soon as they reply to my inquiry.

Do more research. Those models were available with a Chevy motor.
