Hello experts,

1970 Cutlas S, 350 Rocket.
I have a leaky oil pan (wife is sick of oil all over the garage floor), there is not much room between the cross member and the oil pan. Questions:

1. Can I replace the gasket by just letting the pan down as far is can (~1-2 inches)?
2. Can I take the pan off with that little clearance (repaint it)?

You need to pull the engine mount bolts and jack the engine as high as it will go an then turn the crank so that the pan will clear to remove. Frankly I'd rather pull the engine.

It’s easily done on a 350 car. You will to lift the engine to pull the oil pan. Check your rear main seal as well.
