Cam. bearing question
Cam. bearing question
Is there a ring bearing that goes between the cam and the block, just in front of the first bearing. Or will it ride on the block itself or will the distributor hold it from doing that?
Sorry, hope I explain this little better, what is keeping the cam from riding into the block further and having the end that the timing sprocket connects to, hit the block

My recollection is that there is a machined surface around the front bearing location that the back of the central portion of the sprocket bears lightly against.
I must admit that I never really thought about it.
There is no specific thrust bearing.

Are you talking about a torrignton style bearing to prevent wear on the block ? I have taken apart many stockers and never seen anuthing between the cam and block surface., although I think some opt to machine the block to hold a bearing or thrust washer etc.
That's the one.
That answers my question thank you guys.
