Motor mounts

I have a 71 Cutlass 442 pulled the engine in preparations to have it sent to a machine shop to be rebuilt after the removal I found a horrible attempt by the former owner to weld the mounts to the cradle i had a fabricator remove the sloppy welds and mounts and need the info on getting the correct motor mounts for this vehicle.

The engine is a 73-75 455 engine code 396021 F

Do you need frame mounts or engine mounts? Maybe both? Two different things.

Frame mounts for example..... https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...mounts-174784/

Engine mounts are either 2261 or 2328 depending on which frame mount you go back with. I'm assuming you want to go back with what is correct?? since they are flamed off.

Its easy to get confused.

Frame mounts still have the engine mounts. The frame mounts had a butcher job done on them by the previous owner they are no longer usable.

What im asking is since its a 71 yet has a 73-75 period big block in it will anything have changed with the engine swap?

There are multiple frame mount holes just want to be sure i get the right compatible mounts to fit the engine swap .

Another question is is there any way outside out sitting the motor and trans back up in the car to determine where the mounts should bolt into the frame?

Every single 1964-1990 second gen Olds V8 block has the motor mount holes in exactly the same place relative to the crank centerline. The frame pads and rubber motor mount must match EACH OTHER, not the block. There are only two versions for the A-body cars, the 2261 mounts and the 2328 mounts. Either one works if you have the matching frame pads. And don't fall for the "big block" or "small block" motor mount thing, as Olds used the so-called "small block" mounts on every 1965-68 442 and H/O. The so-called "big block" mounts came from the factory on every 260 and 307.

its the frame pad location and which holes to use is the question.

a pic of which holes to use is best because there are multiple ones he says.
