Vent line used as fuel return

Has anyone used the vent line to the charcoal canister as a fuel return? I read that it is too small (1/4 inch). I think I need 5/16.

Thoughts?

I don't see why you couldn't, considering that the return on a return-type pump can simply be blocked and it will still work fine.

Did not work. It pushed the fuel into vapor separator for the charcoal canister behind the rear seat. This conection was designed to stop liquid from flowing into the charcoal canister under the hood. 3 vent lines on the gas tank that hook up to the vapor separator. That goes into one line that goes to the front of the car.

It was designed to flow vapor from the tank but not flow the other direction.

I thought that you meant that you would use the 1/4" line to connect the return port on the pump to the return port on the tank, not that you would just leave the 1/4" line connected to whatever it had been connected to originally.

Obviously, you can't push gas back through the vapor return system and expect it to work normally.

In the future, I will have to add a warning when discussing subjects like this that the line must be completely disconnected from the parts of the system it used to be connected to.
