455 head bolts, can I remove just 1?

Can I just remove just 1 head bolt to put a studded head bolt on the corner of the engine?

Accessory bracket needs a mounting point and the 455 has a head bolt with no stud on the corner.

307s use 1/2" head bolts. All pre-1977 Olds V8s (including your 455) use 7/16" head bolts. You need one from an earlier motor.

Also, you are aware of the mods required on the 307 brackets to fit the taller deck of the 455, right?

Yep, I was reading that, plan to buy a welder to add some metal and reshape it with my grinder then put new holes.

As long as I can swap 1 head bolt with a new one for the engine that has a stud on the top of the bolt I'll be set.

I know this is an old thread, But does anyone have a photo of the mod that needs to be done to the 307 AC bracket. The link above no longer works.

Thanks!

And don't forget the PS pump spacer.

Thank you. Any idea if this will clear the hood of a G-Body?

It should. Biggest problem is the intake/carb/air cleaner is already going to be tight. You'll be pushing clearances on a stock hood if you go anything other than stock height intake.

Thank you for the pics.

Looking at these pics, the tabs have to be extended about 1.5 inches?
