strange fuel concern 67 442
this is an edelbrock (1405 ?) on my 67 442 with a strange concern of the fuel line draining back, upon engine shut off.
i installed a glass filter to video the draining back. eventually the fuel line is completely void of fuel, but fills up as the engine is cranked.
symptoms are:
sitting after 10 minutes, engine needs to be cranked over extensivley to fire up, but starts fine if only left to site a few minutes.
check out the video, let me know your thoughts!
is it a fuel pump issue? (as far as i know, there are no check valves preventing drain back..)
is it a carb issue (float seat no sealing)
thoughts?

Loosen the carb and slide a piece of thin cardboard in there, and check for a carb internal leak.
I can't think of any other way you could 'siphon' the fuel bowls, as the needle and seat are above the floats.
Once the fuel is below the float level, it must be letting air in, via needle, siphoning the line!

Clogged return line?
Maybe take some air and blow the tank lines out.
Blue vista has a good point, try running the car with the gas cap removed.
Please remember to install it before moving the vehicle.

The fuel pump should have two check valves inside it - one in and one out.
If the "out" valve is leaky, it might let the line drain, but it shouldn't empty the float bowl, as mentioned above.

That very same thing started happening to my 'Vette after changing from the Q-jet to an Edelbrock carb. I later on installed an Air Gap intake and after bolting everything back up, it stopped. I thought it was due to my getting rid of the vacuum canister and letting the system openly vent there, but I really don't know. I'm sure it's something very simple that we're over-looking/making it more complex than it is.
