Stock 67 442 engine compartments

Hi Guys,
Doing a Big block conversion on my Cutlass and going for the stock look.

Can any of you post close up pics of stock 67 442 engine compartments ?

I know the air cleaners came chrome either open element or chrome snorkel closed.

Did any 67 442's come with chrome valve covers ?

Was there any aluminum intake option ?

Who makes the closest to correct Bronze paint ?

Thanks,
Matt

I have used Fusick and Supercars unlimited paint. I recommend paint the engine assembly first with cast iron manifold paint first. It will then be all the same color and be as close to a raw casting color as possible. Then paint it with the copper. It will take less to cover and it will look very good.
Open element air cleaner came on stick shift cars. Close element with a snorkle and the no snorkel closed look came on automatics and don't forget the climate controled air cleaner.

Chrome valve covers only on a w-30 and the chrome ram air, air cleaner on a w-30 only also. No aluminum intakes in 67.

Hope this helps
Larry

chrome valve covers

Actually I had a an exception, I think. In sept of 66, I ordered a 67 w30 and was told I would have it in Oct. After 5 weeks of waiting I was told I could not get the car in w30 form until January. I said go ahead with the order without the w30. It came with chrome valve covers. I always thought it was quicker than other 442's, so maybe it came with the w30 engine but not any of the ram air etc. features. Duane

Several years ago I purchased a Chrome closed air cleaner. I have not seen any in pictures and was wondering if it was the right one for my car. 1967 442 Auto. Very informative info here as I am always learning something while browsing around. Looks like i got lucky to find one at a swap meet. Think it was $100 bucks..
Thanks WMACHINE for the info.

Thats it. I don't see the no snorkle often. I did get the base with my purchase. I was reading somewhere that the early 1967's were like the 1966's with the snorkle and later in the year they introduced the unit without the snorkle. Not sure of this and no dates were mentioned. As with most of the stuff going on back then sounds reasonable that they would have run the supply of snorkles out then started using the new design. By the way your open element looks great. I hope to have something under the hood that looks as tight as that.

Look on ebay for some car magazines of that time period, such as April 67 Hi-Perf. cars. The chrome valve covers were available from parts dept. but as noted above, only used factory on the W30 cars.
