Idle Set Screw

Alright I thought is would be a easy part to find, but not even the quadrajet shops have these....Idle Set Screw. Does anyone out there have a quadrajet that is not repairable and willing to sell the idle set screw?

I have the 2 front air mixture screws. I need the one that sets the idle. It is located at the throttle linkage. It looks similar to the front screws, but not as long.

You could just call Cliff Ruggles, or PM Bill Demmer - I'm sure they've got idle speed screws. These things are everywhere.

Is this a part you can get from the hardware store? All it takes is a machine screw with a specific thread pitch and size. Just a thought...

I have thought about this and it will get me by. Before I show it though I want to make sure I have the original look.

Do you have any mechanic shops in your area that have been in business for a long time. Most of them have a stack of cores in their store room.

round tag = 66-67 QJet

I have parts carbs if no one else has this handy

you need the spring also on this screw, and it does have a rounded tip, so I highly recommend the use of the correct part and not a store near-adequate item.

I'd need generous postage for it; the time to find and send the part is hard to come by.

i'll assume your carb. number is correct for your application, i'll assume your carb. number is 7027156. i'll try to remember to look for a screw and spring.

You can't read that, Bill?

I distinctly saw a "6".

You should also look at local salvage yards. This part can be found on any GM car with a Q-jet (even the later CCC Q-jets). I had a 1990 Buick Estate wagon with an Olds 307 that had a CCC Q-jet and the idle set screw from this carburetor is identical to the ones on the Q-jets of the 60s and 70s.

olds64: there are minor differences between various m/n qj's, length is one, head shape is another, and your e-qjet should've had a inside torx head.

oldstata: that looks like the fast idle screw and spring.

jeffsims: i have your screw and spring.

pm me,
bill

You are correct Bill. I knew the CCC Q-jet on my 90 Buick Estate Wagon had a torx head, I didn't know there were different lengths.
