Engine is out of the car?

no worries... assuming that the 394 is built much like a 455...

Remove oil pan
remove oil pump
tap oil pump driveshaft towards top of engine from below
Which should drive the distributor out. Have a soft surface under the distributor to catch it- or a helper.

you might have to remove the washers on the drive rod, or use adifferent rod of your choosing to tap the distributor with- not sure if the 394 uses an oil pump drive rod with washers or not.
