I need a '75 HEI distributor for a 455
#1
...I'm getting rid of the points in my 72 455 ...again.....this time a different one! I did it to one years ago, taking the 75 HEI and the 72 points distributor and swapping the gear at the end,...it worked GREAT! Believe it or not, the two gears were cut identically, but reverse of each other....it was better than spending the money on a Mallory or something,...we were poor rodders then!...anyone?

That makes no sense. All modern Olds engines use the same distributor shaft and gear type. You could take one from a 1964 330 and use it in a 1990 307 (provided you removed the computer form the car) and it would work just fine or vise/versa.

Chevy distributors are noticeably longer than Olds and do not "drop in". B, O, and P distributors are all different and do not interchange. As noted above ALL 1964-1990 Olds distributors (except, of course, the 1964 394) interchange and turn in the same direction.
