I just received in a restored 9251 for my '69 442. I did not think much into it at the time, but now that it's here I'm in need of the choke thermostat/rod/all that jazz that mounts to the intake and hooks into the carburetor. I see Parts Place has one for like $80, but thats the only place I've found.
So first, is the Parts Place piece the go-to for replacement? Second, I've never messed with anything other than electric choke. Is this just a matter of bolting it down, hooking up the rod into the linkage in the correct spot and then just making normal adjustments to fast idle as needed (setting it similarly to setting fast idle with electric choke)
There is a process for adjusting (bending) the rod from the choke to calibrate the coil. The carb has a notch in the arm that the choke rod attaches to that is used as a gauge for adjusting the length of the rod. Then you select the correct hole of the three in the arm for the rod to adjust lean or rich. The CSM provides the details.

I did scan through the CSM last night and noticed that. Once I have one (choke thermostat) I'll go ahead and take the old Jet carb off and put the new carb/choke on. I was just surprised (though not sure why) that there weren't any new ones being made aside from the Parts Place piece..which I hear isn't that great.
