I am having some choke issues on my 1969 Hurst. It appears the fast idle cam may not be releasing properly and is getting hung up on a tang. When the engine is cold and the choke fully closed, is the tang in the picture supposed to keep the fast idle cam from releasing and opening the choke? Also, do I have the choke rod in the correct hole in the linkage?
I had a problem starting my car recently. It appeared to be flooded, but after trying for about 15 minutes, I checked the choke and the choke was fully closed. I had to hold the choke open to get the car to start. It appeared the fast idle cam was keeping the choke closed as the tail could not pass over the tang.
In the pic of the choke rod, I t looks like the choke actuator rod is attaching from the backside. If so someone has bent the rod 180 degrees because it should insert from the outside with a hairpin to keep it in place. Also that hole is the one to push the choke open further because of the arc of travel, if the rod was in the right position.
