Motor in a '70 442

I'm looking at a '70 442 that's for sale. The owner says it has a 350 in it now. Should'nt all 442s prior to 1972 have 455s in them? Or did they come in '70 with a 350 as an option? Thanks.

The 350 was never an option prior to 1972.

All 64 442s had 330 motors
All 65-67 442s had short stroke 400s
All 68-69 442s had long stroke 400s
All 70-71 442s had 455s.

Thanks Joe. Is there a number I should look for on the trim tag to know if it's a true 442?

The Vin # must start with 344 to be a 442.
