So I have been searching and was told I need a motor mount #2328. Is this the correct mount? I also read there is a specific one for this year but have been unable to come across it.

If your looking for the rubber mount it should be the same from 1969 to 1972 in the 442, Vista Cruiser and all the variations of the Cutlass models with the 455 engine. John

Assuming your 442 has the original frame mounts, use 2262. The 2328 mount fits the 64-68 mounts and the 69-72 small block mounts.

 

Well I looked at it a little closer and it appears it used the 2328 mounts. I will have to ask my uncle if they ever switched the mounts. I would highly doubt it though. I know the original buyer and he never switched anything, so we will see what my uncle has to say. I know he had the engine rebuilt in the early 80's maybe they switched out the mounts then.

I attempted to put the passenger side on and got the two bolts in the block but havn't been able to successfully line up the bolt to the frame. I have it started through ones side but not the other. Anyone have any tips or tricks? I was jacking it up on the flat piece of the block near the fuel pump.

 

Again, if it has the original big block frame mounts, the 2328 rubber mounts will not work. The trick to getting new motor mounts in place is to leave the bolts to the block fairly loose, get the bolt to the frame pad inserted, then tighten everything up.

Also note that I have personally gotten new parts store motor mounts that were machined incorrectly. The bolt holes were in the wrong place, which I only discovered after several minutes of cursing...

 

OK, I gave you bad info. Anchor 2262 is a motor mount for the 65-70 Olds full size cars. It will not work with the A-body mounts. Even worse, neither Rock Auto nor NAPA list the BBO mounts any more. And even worse than that, the Anchor Industries website now lists the 2262 and 2263 mounts as being applicable for the A-body cars, which is NOT correct. For the 71-72 BBO cars, Anchor shows 2328, which again is NOT correct. It appears that the 69-72 BBO mounts are no longer manufactured by Anchor nor stocked by anyone else. This is a disturbing development.

WHY oh why is this motor mount thing soooo hard?

 

Supercars Unlimited still lists the correct 69-72 BBO motor mounts under part number 48-016 at #21.95 each.

 

I learned the hard way myself. I bought a couple mounts from a O'Reilys and things are very tight. I don't ever want to pull those mount bolts again.

 

Hell, in 10 years we will not even be able to get mounts for a 260 in a 78 Cutlass.

Thanks guys I got both of them out and they are identical to the 2328 mounts so maybe they were switched out when the engine was rebuilt in the 80's I will have to ask my uncle. I was finally able to get the passenger side all bolted up. Now I am working on the drivers side. I can get it lined up but the stupid heat shield is making it a pain to get the bolts in. Also I had to disconnect the headers on the drivers side, but that is alright the header gasket had just started to leak anyway. I really should buy a new set of exhaust manifolds and put on it but I am too cheap right now. If I do end up getting some would you guys recommend the set from Tamraz's for around $307?

I put the headers on it High School because the original manifold ears were breaking off and I couldn't find any other manifolds. I tried to have them re-welded a few times but that never seemed to work very long and started getting expensive.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have the new motor mount on so I can go get the new tires and then early next week get new mufflers and some new stainless exhaust tips welded on. My chrome ones didn't last to long over here on the coast.
