67 Rally Pac

Hi Guy's and gals, I stumbled into a Tic Toc Tac, and would like to install it into my 66. Besides the oil, temp sending units, what is involved in doing a conversion? I think there may be some issues in the removing of some material in the back of the dash where the clock delete is to facilitate the unit, but other than that, what about the engine harness, forward light harness, dash harness, etc, etc.?

Thanks, Todd

P.S. I tried doing a search in this forum, but may not be looking in the right spot.
P.S.S This was out of a 67 442 and comes with the Dash harness.

You will need the harness for a 66 with rally dash. Its ava as a reproduction. I had a dash to put in my 66 but ended up selling to help finish the car.

And correct sending sending units. Just curious, what is the build date for your '66?

Thanks Guy's, the build date is 5th week of June 66. Kurt, I have the code you wanted earlier on
the head that is: V115448 on the passenger head.

P.S. I have a 66 harness and the sending units are on the way.

Richard, Where do you get the Repo 66 rally dashes? And, do you mean I will need both a repop
harness and repop dash?

The dash was from a very rusty 67 I parted out. Not ava reproduced to my knowledge. The harness I was going to get from here.

The harness that comes with a 67 dash will be different than what you need. You need one for a 66 with gages. That what I was told anyway when I posted about it for my car on ROP.

Thanks for the compliments
Richard

Good for your build date, the Rally Pac was offered starting middle of May 1966.

Do you know if your engine is supposed to be original? The sequence number is a bit early for the build date.

Unfortunately it's not the original motor, but I'm lucky to have found it. As a matter of fact, it was a guy through this forum that wanted something I had for trade. I had a 65 400 block, he knew of a 66 400 for sale, and, he lived in the same state as I, so, it was an easy deal.

Thanks, Todd

P.S how do you read the numbers Curt?

I guess I'll have to see when I get to that point of the resto.

Thanks, Todd

I'm glad to hear that, I mean that I'm glad I wasn't giving you bad news about something you weren't aware of.
It's not really a matter of "reading the numbers" as much as it is keeping track of numbers over the years and correlating the numbers with know build dates.
First use the logical big picture: There were ~22,000 442s in '66, and all the engine unit numbers started with V1........ and were in sequence (regardless of the plant) so the 1st was V100001 and the last ~V122000. With production starting about the 1st of Sept and ending at the end of July, one can estimate about when the build was done for any particular number.
Now in addition to that, I've refined the data by keeping track of numbers over the years and correlating the numbers with know build dates.
According to my data, your car's build date would have an engine unit # of about V120200. Definitely over V119500.
Your engine would have a build date of about the middle of May.

1966 is my favorite for many reasons. But I like them all, as every year has its merits.
