'70 Vert, tires and wheels.....

I bought some new S1 Rally Wheels for my '67 that were 15x8 and had some bigger tires as well. I like the way they fill up the wheel wells and change the stance of the car. They fit just right. Still looks original and IMO looks better. Now on my '70 I would like to do something similar. How much bigger has anyone gone and any problems with rubbing or similar? Thanks in advance for the help....

There is sooo much room in the rear wheel wells that it's kinda silly. 295/50/15 fit with no issues on a 15x8½ and I'm sure you can bigger.

I have 275/60/15 BF's and they fit in my 1970 hardtop and my 1971 convert w/o a problem. They are taller than stock and will havethe effect of changing the rear end ratio which helps with 391 on the highway.

Thanks Guys...I know we have tons of room in the rear, and on my '67 the front didn't have an issue, but how about my '70 front?
Any issues there?
Thanks again, Scott...

Scott,
If you have new front coil springs you can go with 255/ 60/15 up front, but if the front end sits down at all, you may want to go with 245/60/15 max. The tire may hit the fender lip when turning hard into sidewalk entrances if there is any sag in the front end. That is with 15X7 standard wheel offset like the stock 1973 and up SS2 wheel or aftermarket SS1 pictured on my car above.

You might want to keep it at 235/75 R 15 max. Otherwise you will hit the fender skirts... oh never mind.

On my '67 I have 235/70R-15 and they work well and the car sits nicely. I have had ONE instance where I thought I heard something in the front end but couldn't see anything on the tire so I let it pass. Which has more room the '67 or the '70? At first blush I would guess the '67....thanks again fellas.
