Wheel Paint Opinions Please

Yes, I'm still working on my wheels. 15x7 original rally wheels. Note: Not original for my 1969 442 but original just the same. I prefer the look, not worried about if they are correct wheel or correct color. Yes, I know personal preference is up to me but I'm looking for your opinions on what color I should paint them. They are ready for paint now, I'm thinking either the original to 1969 Argent Gray (WA9721) or match the car code 55 Tahitian Turquoise Ird. Thoughts? Thanks for your opinions. Thanks in advance. NOTE: The Cragar's shown here came on the car & have been sold. I replaced with the rally wheels shown in comment #13.

Good choice on changing the wheels. I would probably go with the argent gray. You can't go wrong either way. Nice car.

I checked Fusick for paint. They carry spray paint with part number WP5S named Charcoal Gray Wheel Paint for $19.50 per can. Thornton has spray paint cans named SSII Argent Gray for $26.99 per can. I'm going to see if my local Advanced Auto Parts can make up spray cans for me, priced last time I bought a couple cans for an engine was $33.99 per can. I'm wondering if I can just buy from Amazon, they have Charcoal Gray in stock like pictured? I'd like it to be close, but it does not have to be exact. Any ideas on the correct brand and color I should look for. Trying not to break the bank any more than I need too. Thanks

Thank you. I'm leaning toward the original gray or close to it like the picture I posted of the spray can. Still looking for opinions though. Extra paint (code 55) came with the car & a buddy can spray them with compressor & spray gun. On the other hand, 4-5 cans of the gray spray paint would do the job. a bit easier & be correct to the car. Decisions, decisions 😁

If you paint only the centers, just over one can usually does it.

Any thoughts on the Rust-Oleum 244228 color choice?

Every time I see a '68-'70 with body color SS II's, it makes me think that it wasn't restored with any regard for accuracy, and I wonder what else is wrong with it.

Yes, I can see how that would be annoying and make anyone wonder what else is not correct. I'm not an aficionado's but I do appreciate accuracy and to be honest, having owned 6-7 Oldsmobiles, I never paid much attention. They were mostly transportation back in the days when I first started to drive and no one cared about correctness as they do these days. Coming up through the years, I could buy a cutlass or 442 for under $1000 and many of my, probably over 50 cars I've owned, were just that. Cheap, dependable transportation. I sure miss those days. Thanks for your reply.

UPDATE: Finally got wheels painted, new tires, center caps & trim rings. All installed on car. Still have not driven as we're still reinstalling the engine. Should be finished next weekend. Fingers crossed.

Very nice. Painting wheels is lots of work. I did the wheels on my car last year. I was installing new tires so I had the old tires removed and then took all the trim off and had them sand blasted. I then sprayed them with a spray can of epoxy primer and two coats of single stage enamel with hardener. I used my turbine gun to spray the enamel. Then you have to put all the trim back on. I was pleased with the results and it made a huge difference in the car.
