1969 Cutlass wheel queston?

i've notived that many of the Cutlass factory wheels were painted body color, and some weren't. was this an option, or just a variance in years? my 1969 Cutlass S has the original wheels, not painted body color, and the original spare has never seen the ground. the wheels is painted a darker silver. is this correct, if so, does anyone know the correct paint code to restore the other wheels? thanks, Rick

That's correct for 1969. No 69 wheels were body color. You are talking about SSII wheels?

Yes, those are the SSII wheels. They should have bolt on center caps. SSI wheels are the 5 spoke type wheel like a Chevelle SS. Some 69's had them. Both wheels were options. The dark grey argent color like your spare would have been their color. You can get spray cans from Fusick, Supercars Unlimited and others. The paint varies a bit from place to place. It's a pretty color and unusual if it's original. The 'vette looks cool, too!

The body color wheels were an option starting in 1971. Prior to that, they were argent.
