Wheel color

What color should I paint the factory wheels on my 71 442? The car is bittersweet and I figured I'd paint them the color of the car.
Thanks,
Dave
I did a search and found an old thread that covered it nicely.
Thanks

Presume you're referring to steel wheels, not Super Stocks. If it came with dog dishes, the outer wheel and about 2-3 inches over the outside edge into the center get body color. Otherwise black.

The car came with 15" ssIII

I plan on using the SSIII wheels that came with my car because they are 15" It also came with a set of 14" SSI wheels with the trim rings. The 15's are a gray color but I might paint them the body color and use them. But I plan on keeping the SSI wheels also now and then. According to the link the SSIII's should stay gray in 71
Thanks for the help.
This is the link I found in the search from Jamesbo.

Uh, that was the difference in SSII and SSIII. SSII were Argent Silver and SSIII were painted lower body color.

I am really not sure why some people don't care of it.

Just a fine point here. Argent is what is considered the best match to the original color that was actually called "Cast-gray".

Well, not quite. Because '71 SSII and SSIII were both 14" (14 x 7). You said you have 15".

Thats right, A set of 15's came with the car, i figure they must be from a 1974 and I plan on using them. I'm not a huge fan of 14" tires. But I plan on using the SSi's as a back up set.

15" bolt on centers are rare. Guard them with your life.
