Wheel Color decision / Dog Dish

So I have a 1971 Cutlass S coming out of paint soon. Has SS1 's on it and I love those...... but I also have an extra set of steel wheels that I want to paint and use poverty caps on for a change of look every now and then.

The car Is Sterling silver with a black vinyl top. Should I paint the wheels Car color? Or Black?

What do you guys think will look better?

Either would look great, I actually prefer the dishes over the SS1. Are they 14’s or 15”?

Car color looks better. That's how they came from the factory with dog dish caps.

If you haven't had the wheels painted body color at the same time the car was painted then I'd paint them black. In fact, if you aren't doing a concours restoration then that's another reason to paint them black. POR15 has great paint that will be more durable than anything else available. You can spray it or even brush paint it.

Ummm....well....ummmm...I'd have to disagree w/ you on this one, Jesse. If they weren't painted when the car was painted, I'd still by a rattle can of a color which almost nearly matches the body color paint as I believe that would look better than black.

Wheels will be painted when the car is painted. I knew that they were body color from the factory. Looking at pictures of other cars the same color, and other colors. I seemed to like the dog dishes on the darker colors. Thanks for the replies I cant wait to see this car with new paint!

The really great thing about wheels is that they can completely change the mood and on a whim. That is why I had said that it would work either way, I’m sure that it will look terrific whatever you decide.😄

Black steel wheels with dog dish caps always remind me of undercover police cars. I definitely agree with body color.
